I chose Hayter because my family have always used them but I was sadly very disappointed. I appreciate the quality isn't what it used to be because companies have to stay competitive but I've had an oil leak since purchasing it. There was the promise of a gift at purchase but despite jumping hoops completing registration/application forms it never arrived despite chasing it for months. Hayter refer me to a "third party" promotion company who in turn refer me back to Hayter's "claims department". Very poor customer service for a top end machine for which I paid £1000 .

Mower is very good to use although only use once, prompted for review same day as delivery and followed by reminder. Reviewnig a mower after at least a month of use would be more beneficial to potential buyers. However I found it easy to use, not heavy to manoeuvre and does leave a nice stripe finish

I purchased a Hayter Hawk 36 in April 2024, and it has been a massive disappointment. The design of the wiring at the folding joint is fatally flawed. My first unit arrived with damaged wiring; the replacement developed the exact same issue quickly: worn exposed wires at the hinge.
The Failure: while mowing recently, the motor died suddenly after I simply emptied the grass basket. No stress was applied to the cable at that moment, yet the machine became a brick.
The Support (or Lack Thereof): Hayter’s customer service is non-existent. They directed me to local dealers, but every single dealer I contacted refused to service electric mowers, stating they only handle petrol models. I followed up with Hayter 12 days ago to report this dead end, and they have ignored me ever since.
The Attempted Repair: left with an overgrown lawn and no professional support, I was forced to attempt a repair myself. I identified the frayed wires at the hinge and soldered them back together. Despite this, the mower remains dead, suggesting a deeper electronic failure or a secondary fault triggered by their poor wiring design.
When you buy this machine, you are paying a premium price for a disposable product. Once it breaks, the service network evaporates and you are on your own.

The mower was easy to set up and is easy to use. It is fantastic for stripes and the clippings are really fine which is perfect for composing. The only downside is the garden centre who took delivery from Hayter did not deliver it locally, which meant I had to get into car and needed help. Had it been delivered to my door I would have givens 5 star rating.

Easy online ordering.
Delivery via local dealer was fast.
But Hayters closest dealer as listed on their website was no longer a dealer and this entailed a frustrating hour or so as they switched delivery to the next closest. Once done everything happened smoothly.

Assembled Lawnmower and charged battery but not used yet. However, I have an unresolved issue regarding the promotional gift. My claim was rejected online. I spent 15 minutes on the telephone explaining the problem and was assured that I was entitled to the free strimmer and the details would be passed to the team for correction. This morning I received an email stating that Customer Services couldn't deal with this matter and I needed to contact the third party claims team. This I did by email and received an acknowledgement and advised that I would get a response in 72 Hours. Having brought this matter to the attention of Customer Services I would have thought you could have resolved matters internally without the need for me to repeat the problem again.
