Heatconned
Pros
- Interesting industry to work in and working with a lot of big airlines
- Hours of work are okay *
- Pay is reasonable *
-
- Mostly friendly team
Cons
- improper training or lack of structured training, you’re expected to know what you’re doing very early on. The staff conducting the training also have their own job to do with no allowances and no incentive to train so not their fault, there’s also no induction to the business. so unless you do your research on everything you don’t know what the company does not what it’s aims or values are
Working hours
Whilst the hours in the office are okay on the face of it you are expected to give 15% over your contracted hours per week for free which equates to around 6hrs per week. You also do not get this time back in lieu.
Whilst the job could easily be done remotely staff cannot work from home (management can) - staff can only work at home if it’s you working for free giving the 15% extra
Pay
Whilst I said the pay is reasonable there is no commission or bonuses or overtime pay despite targets in excess of £1m each. The company does usually pay a discretionary bonus annually although this isn’t written down anywhere and is entirely dependent on how the company performs
Perks
Working hours are decent 8.00-4.30 Monday to Thursday & 8.00-1.30 on Fridays - if you don’t do the extra 15%
Closed on bank holidays
Tea and coffee provided
Don’t expect things like healthcare, paid sick leave, hybrid working,
Management
There management team is made up of two manager, a General manager and an office manager
There is a general manager who mostly works off site and isn’t really directly involved in day to day management or operations, just tends to either be abroad working in workshops or facilities or working from home - rarely interacted with him .
The office is run by one manager who as a knows the system and procedures to a good standard, however has no leadership or interpersonal skills and causes a lot of animosity and tension within the office - without realising
In a nutshell she speaks to you like you’re an idiot, rolls her eyes at you and publicly mugs you off in-front of the office, in one incident she called a warehouse worker stupid in-front of the whole office to which the staff looked at each other in disbelief and was appalled. She also has a reputation for saying things then denies saying things so if you end up here make sure you always follow it up with an email
I genuinely think she means well but just is out of her depth for what modern management and leadership requires
Conclusion
In a nutshell if you don’t mind being spoken to like an idiot in public, micromanaged, being constantly overworked and giving up hours of your time for free whilst not being recognised for a job well done then it’s not a bad place to be, however if you want a modern working arrangement where your seniors show you respect, lead by example and aren’t always trying to trip you up and provides everyone with a manageable workload and realistic targets then I’d avoid like the plague.
I also noticed a disparity between how the men within the office are treated vs the women
