The negative reviewers mostly are complaining about the initial "know your customer" setup delay. I too found this a surprise, but a pleasant one. I am happy to work with a processing company less likely to be a front for terrible scammers.
We set up invoicing. We like the checkbox to pass card fees to the purchaser (wishing only that there were a corresponding control to pass the 1% ACH option's fees to the customer).
We had trouble with CSV import of customers.
We like that we can generate an invoice, actually accept payment via paper check or Zelle or whatever, and still mark it as done in Helcim.
We wish we could upload a backing PDF with the invoice, but have a workaround for that.

The way they do business does not make any sense whatsoever. I’ll stay with Square it cost more but they never play any games with the money. Helcim seems very Scammy. And to request more information after being approved is insane. This should have all been apart of the approval process. They charged me a service fee but won’t release my money. Does that make sense?

Sales rep sold us something they can't do and led us down a rabbit hole. They told us we can process ACH payments from the US, but evidently we can't. What's the point of being able to set up two terminals (one for CAD and one for USD) if at the end of the day we can only take ACH/direct debit from Canadian clients. It's fine that they can't do it but you can't get the same answer twice from their team. Waste of time, use stripe, avoid this company.

By FAR they have the worst customer service I have ever experienced ... extra charges on my credit card, returning equipment has been a nightmare, and if you do not follow-up on your submitted tickets you will never hear back from them. I have yet to have a good interaction with their support team. Your much better off going with something like Square.
If customer service is important to you then I would avoid Helcim at all costs.

I started shopping around and signed up due to their website showing fewer rates. After I did my first transaction and them asking so many questions about my transaction, I finally received my payment after about 2 weeks. Then I get a fee slapped on me for over 3.5%. Not at all what the website said when I signed up. They would not reverse anything or help. As with other disgruntled customers - stick with what you know. This is horrible and they rob you blind!@

If I could give fewer than 45 stars, I would. Unfortunately, I came across this company whose business philosophy seems to be to suffocate small businesses by withholding their money and taking days to review transfers, claiming nonexistent risks. They want to see client contracts, budget approvals, bank statements—everything that is confidential for a company. We've even had to show them everything just so they would pay us for the hard work we've done. There is zero willingness to help; it's truly a platform that wasn't created to help but to economically strangle businesses. Please stay away and look for other options. I hope many entrepreneurs can read about this bad experience before it's too late.
About your answer: It’s very clear to me what kind of company you are. I have no interest in having any further contact with you. Your strict policies are a disaster for small businesses. Your mission is to destroy businesses, not to support them.

My company was with another credit card processor for 25 years. Costs were rising so we checked out Helcim.
We sent in all our credit info and we received a Helcim account. We are a mini storage facility and charge customers cards monthly. We did not require the customers CVV numbers when processing customers cards. When we started to process our first customers card the Helcim site asked for the customers CVV # . We did not have that as we were never required to provide that from our previous provider. We stopped and contacted Helcim Customer service. We were told they would respond in 3 business days. I waited a day then tried to enter another credit card from a customer that I happened to have a CVV number for. When I started entering the info I received a pop up message from Helcim. It stated 'We are sorry, you are not a good fit for Helcim" ?? I was shocked! They had approved my account. I immediately called the Helcim sales person that set us up.(by the way,he was great). He expedited things and I received a response from Helcim trust and safety. " Hello, hope you are doing well" you are not a good fit for Helcim.
No explanation why, just shut out. Meanwhile we are stuck here with no credit card processing. I quickly called 2 other credit card processors and was quickly approved when they found out about our situation.
We were set up with a processing company in 36 hours and were able to resume business. The new provider jumped in and saved the day.
There are other companies out there that have rates as good as Helcim with much better service. Shop around.

They take payment from your customers then hold it for a week at least before sending the payment on to your bank account. Although their processing fees are cheaper than most, there is a reason. Stay away from this processor. Absolutely ridiculous customer service.

Well, here we were, ready to do good business with Helcim. They led us to believe that everything would work out. We completed all required requests, established our account by being approved, set up our platform, activated it, sent out invoices, had three (3) transactions and it was all being processed, understanding that the first few "batches" of business would be reviewed to make sure everything was in order and it would take an extra few days, as is with [they claimed] every merchant and then all transactions would process in a couple of days.....
Have spent a lot of time with customer service people fixing things and getting it all dialed in and then out of nowhere this email comes to us:
"Unfortunately, after reviewing your account and recent batch(es), we have determined some details surrounding the business are not in line with our risk policies. We would love to help every business without exception, but we are not always able to clear all the requisite regulatory hurdles"
I am waiting to hear back from them what in the world this all means......very vague and unclear......what do they mean "some details surrounding the business"? "not in line with our risk policies"? "......clear all the requisite regulatory hurdles"?
I/we are extremely frustrated because we choose Helcim over others understanding that our type of business fit their parameters.....we are very low risk in any financial transactions - all our transactions going through Helcim either are generated from our clients or agents within our agency......we are very sensitive to the aspects of KYC and understand that all too well in out industry -
Someone should have flagged us before we spent all this time setting this up and sending out invoices - they have wasted our time and money.
Maybe the best advise we can offer someone looking for a merchant is stick to the known ones out there.....square, stripe, etc......

After checking all the main Card Processing companies, we decided to use Helcim because of the great professionalism and kind service received from the Sales Specialist Monish Parwani, who held our hand patiently every step of the way. Employees like him are what make companies like Helcim great.

Deception about real percentage charged. advertise low cost. In reality it is as high or in some cases higher than other major companies. Corporate cards use will be 5-7 percent. They say if your volume is high enough, we will discount this. If you're a small business and cannot obtain a high level of monthly charges, (undisclosed) what that is you will be paying substantially more for your credit card processing.

Helcim is the worst product and customer service I've ever dealt with. They don't care about your business and even less about their products working correctly. They sent 3 credit card machines and none of they work. Customer service is a joke and there's no manager to speak to. If you want to ruin your business right off the bat go with this worthless company.
