Terrible

Terrible. I signed up in December and never received an email despite being charged. I wrote support and they were confused…then just stopped writing me. But, they never stopped charging me. I logged into my account in December and removed my card. It’s March, and I discovered they are somehow still charging me for a service I could never use. Absolutely terrible.

despite numerous emails - no refund

I mistakenly purchased the app based subscription ( my fault I know) which I assumed I would be able to watch through Prime or Apple. I quickly discovered that this subscription did not work via either of these providers. I emailed and explained and was quickly told - not a problem, we'll refund you. It was then my intention to get a monthly subscription. However, after this first response on 3rd Jan I have not had any further communication from them - I'm at a loss to understand this dire customer service. After all, they wouldn't have been losing a customer as I was going to sign up for a monthly subscription. I will now have to move to asking my credit card company to claim back the money. Certainly doesn't make me inclined to buy the monthly now - really poor show.

Poor technical service and help

Despite subscribing via the App store, I cannot log in, cannot reset my password and customer services tell me to contact Apple as 'my subscription is with them and they use a different platform'. Previously I've had to contact multiple times to get ad-free podcast access, which was the point of subscribing as I think they are really interesting and worth the money. But it's not worth the hassle and now I cannot even access my account. Really poor technical support

Avoid ..I suspect this is a scam .. no access to promised and paid for subscription!

Avoid … it doesn’t load you get the same message every time ‘ There was a problem while loading content, please try again later’ There is zero customer service .. it feels like a scam .. they clearly are unable to provide the Service promised.. expensive for what’s on offer ..
I have been emailing the support team daily for a refund .. no response at all ..
£60 annually is exorbitant for no service and immoral ..

Comments that deterred me from subscribing.

I was about to subscribe to this channel until I read the common complaint that they make it impossible to cancel your subscription. This unscrupulous practice is not uncommon. Hopefully it will deter others from subscribing until they learn their lesson.

Difficult to cancel subscription

This is another site that makes it impossible to cancel your subscription. I can log in to watch a program using my password, but when I try to cancel my subscription it doesn’t accept my password. For the amount of programs that I watch on History Hit, it’s not worth the money.

Avoid

I have had a subscription for several months but when I log in (!) it tells me that there is no subscription associated to me. I have never been able to sort out ad-free podcasts despite contacting customer (no) services several times. I keep getting emails about my subscription and how to access ad-free podcasts which just adds insult to injury. AVOID !

Fascinating and informative

I am really enjoying this. Top class informative and entertaining videos and audio covering a wide range of historical topics and eras. Dan Snow and his team are excellent presenters. Well worth the cost.

They take your money and run. This is a scam. Did the free trail could never get in they said I had no account. Next thing I know they have taken payment for a year! Complained and have been ignored by their help desk and all social media. Disgusting do not sign up total scam

Absolutely dreadful experience after receiving a gift subscription. No email/code arrived as per their website to enable setup. Ten days after it was supposed to start, nothing at all and no response to emails. Incompetent fools who just want you to signup & give your payment details, wish I could give negative feedback.

Paid for a years subscription nov 2023. Can no longer connect and asks me to pay for a subscription. Sent copy of receipt to their so-called service, but get absolutely no satisfaction.

Loved it to begin with but customer service is non existent and doesn’t help at all!

I had paid for a yearly subscription. After 6 months I had a change in my finances, I thought I would not be able to continue with my subscription so I unsubscribed. When the next six months went by and my subscription ran out, I realised I could still afford my subscription and went to resubscribe. My account was difficult to enter and I had to change my password, ok that’s fine done that loads of times on different accounts. Went to sign in to resubscribe with my new password and the log in says wrong password. Hmmm I try again and after a few attempts I get a message on the log in screen to say too many log in attempts, you’ve been locked out of your account. OK I will send an email and it should be fixed quickly and I can get back on… oh how wrong I was!
What followed was a 30 email back and forth of not being listened to, ignored and given the same advice of click this link and sign up here, no matter how many times I told the customer service person that I already have an account I just cannot access it. None of my emails were properly read, as made clear by the replies I received and I have been pushed from one so called “customer service” team member to another. I sent the first email in 14 June 2024.
I love the content on History Hit, however I’m not sure, even if my account is ever recovered or fixed or whatever needs doing to it, that I will resubscribe now. I’m beyond frustrated and disappointed. I’ve never had an experience like this with a company.

If I could give negative stars

If I could give negative stars, I would.
Will not respond to support emails.
No access to account, says it doesn't exist.
Still having my PayPal debited.
No response to issue raised with PayPal, and it's been days.
Looks like my only option is to cancel my card.
Piece of s*#t company, who doesn't respond or give access, yet is happy to take your money. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Will not let you unsubscribe - avoid!!!

I can log into access.historyhit.com but not historyhit.com. When trying to cancel my subscription on access.historyhit.com I keep getting an error message saying it cannot cancel my subscription. I have emailed support and they are saying that they cannot see my email registered with an account, but they can quite easily take £7.99 a month out of my account no problem. I have explained my situation again and have had no response.

I have had to result to contacting my bank to put a block on the recurring payment. I would avoid subscribing at all costs. I have never known a subscription service that does not let you cancel.

Cancelled my subscription in December 2023 yet they are still taking money from my bank. Dont answer emails satisfactorily. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE.

Completely inaccessible!

The very first review I read here is my experience exactly. I can't access the site, therefore I can't cancel my subscription. I mean, who wants to pay for something they cannot use? I've sent 5 emails, no response. I'll be looking for a full refund... if I EVER get a response!

Same problem as many others. I paid for subscription, got no free trial period and no access, customer service is absolutely DREADFUL and am still awaiting reimbursement 5 weeks later. Unless you feel like just giving them.money for free, avoid at all costs.

The original reason you didn't get access to your account was due to a typo in your email when you signed up. Once we located the issue, we did issue a refund and also give you a further coupon to sign up with a further discount for a few months.
