AVOID THIS COMPANY – Refund Only Issued After Threat of Chargeback

Very poor experience with House of Isabella.

The chairs delivered did not match the advertised images (which the company later admitted and issued a 20% partial refund for). Once assembled, multiple chairs were faulty — including defective or missing fixings, poor upholstery, and uneven legs making them unstable and unusable.

A replacement set was sent, but both replacement chairs were also faulty. In total, 5 out of 8 chairs supplied were defective, which is completely unacceptable and demonstrates a serious lack of quality control.

What followed was weeks of delays, poor communication, and a failure to take ownership. Responses were slow and repeatedly referred to their supplier rather than resolving the issue.

The collection process was particularly unacceptable. Despite agreeing a mutually convenient date and time, this was not honoured. Instead, I was contacted by the delivery team with just 20 minutes’ notice on a different day, forcing me to drop everything and rush home.

Even after the chairs were collected, delays continued. Nearly a week later, I was told the refund would only be processed once the items reached their warehouse, with no clear timeframe provided, and my follow-ups were dismissed rather than addressed.

Contrary to the company’s response below, I was not advised of a 5-day refund timeframe. I was explicitly told that “once the supplier has received your items back, you will receive confirmation from us that your refund has been processed” — with no defined timeline given.

A full refund was only issued after I made it clear I would proceed with a chargeback through my bank. 2 minutes before this on their online chat, I was still being told the items had not reached their warehouse (not the supplier’s as I was originally told) and that I needed to continue waiting, making their explanation in their comment below false.

This was an unnecessarily long, inconvenient, and frustrating experience from start to finish. Poor product quality compounded by even worse customer service.

The response to this review does not reflect the full experience and only reinforces my concerns about how this case was handled. I have a full email chain documenting this and would be happy to share it should they wish to properly investigate.

I would strongly advise others to avoid.

We acknowledge your comments regarding the product quality and the issues you experienced with multiple chairs. This is certainly not the standard we aim to provide, and we understand how frustrating this must have been, particularly after requiring replacements.

We also recognise your concerns around communication and delays. While we always aim to respond as quickly as possible, responses are handled in chronological order, and there can occasionally be a delay during busy periods. That said, we appreciate that this added to your frustration.

In relation to the collection, we understand the inconvenience caused by the change in timing. Your request was raised promptly with our external courier, however as this is a third-party service, collections can be arranged either to a third-party warehouse or directly to our own. Scheduling and timing are dependent on their routing and availability, which can sometimes result in changes outside of our control.

To clarify further, we operate using both our own warehouse and third-party warehouses. Returned items may be received at either location depending on logistics, and this is a standard part of our process. As such, it is not unusual for items to be returned to a third-party warehouse before being processed.

Regarding the refund, we are unable to process refunds until the returned goods have been received and checked. You were advised via live chat that refunds can take up to 5 working days from the point the items are received. Your refund was processed on the 4th working day, in line with this timeframe, as soon as we received confirmation from our returns team.

We would also like to clarify that the refund was not issued as a result of the mention of a chargeback, but rather once the appropriate confirmation had been received as part of our standard process. We do generally advise against initiating chargebacks, as these can place funds on hold and may delay the process further.

We are sorry that your experience did not reflect the level of service we strive to provide and appreciate your feedback, which will be taken on board.

I previously purchased a sun lounge and it has been fantastic.

I previously purchased a sun lounge with a side table and the quality was excellent. On using these , l decided to purchase the chair covers and was not disappointed.

Fantastic find

I was searching for a birthday present…

I was searching for a birthday present for my daughter who is so hard to buy for. I found a large picture of Snoopy which I knew she would like. Problem was I only found it on late Sunday and her birthday was Wednesday. For a long shot I emailed the seller and made a big ask. My email was answered by Amelia and told me she would see what she could do. Would you believe it, the picture was sent by overnight courier and I received it on Tuesday. How good is that? My Hare ornament arrived with a broken ear, and Amelia Cliff responded immediately, handled everything efficiently, and kept me updated with thoughtful and friendly communication throughout. She arranged a replacement straight away, making the whole process completely stress-free.
