Unclear pricing and unexpected €39.95 fee during registration
I used Hups to explore domestic help options before moving to a new city. My intention was only to browse and understand what services are available.
During the registration process, there was no clear mention of a mandatory fee in the earlier steps. Only in the final step, a “matching fee” of €39.95 appeared within a block of text, which is easy to overlook. There was also no clear indication that completing the process would result in a payment obligation (e.g. no “pay” or “order with payment obligation” button).
After completing the process, I received an invoice for €39.95.
I raised this with the company and shared feedback, but they maintained that the fee was sufficiently communicated and refused to cancel the invoice. I ended up paying under protest to avoid further escalation.
The platform itself may be useful, but the way pricing and payment obligations are presented is not transparent enough and can easily mislead users who are just exploring options.
I would strongly recommend that Hups improves clarity around pricing and adds a clear payment confirmation step before binding users to any fees.
