Don’t hesitate to report any discrimination or unprofessional behaviour to management for the sake of future guests
I am writing to formally lodge a complaint the unacceptable treatment I received during my visit to your intercityHotel Berlin Hauptbahnhof, located at Katharina- Paulus-Straße 5, 10557 Berlin, in the early hours of 18th September 2024, following my arrival after a business trip.
Upon arrival at the hotel, I politely inquired if there was a room available for a short one-night stay. To my disappointment, the receptionist responded dismissively, stating that although there were three available rooms, he needed to reserve them for more "important" clients and couldn't be sure if more guests would arrive. When I questioned this reasoning, I was further instructed to find another hotel in the central Berlin, approximately 15 minutes away, and was even advised to take the metro to get there.
I am deeply troubled by this unprofessional conduct, particularly at a hotel of your supposed 4-star calibre. It is astonishing that a member of staff could make arbitrary decisions on who is permitted to stay without any attempt to fully assess the situation, all while insinuating that I may not be able to afford the room. This is ridiculous!!!
This experience reflects poorly on the quality of customer service I expected from your establishment, and I feel compelled to consider escalating this matter to ensure that future guests are not subjected to such treatment. The inconsistency, coupled with the discriminatory tone of the interaction, was wholly unacceptable and unprofessional.
As a Portuguese citizen, I firmly believe that respect and equal treatment are fundamental rights, and discrimination of any kind is a serious offence.
