The 11-day private jeep-Safari trip with our driver&guide Francis through Buffalo Springs Nat. Reserve, Samburu, Sweetwaters/Ol Pejeta, Solio Ranch and Rhino Orphanage, Masai Mara, Lake Naivasha, Amboseli and Tsavo East is an outstanding experience in our lives with countless unforgettable memories.
The trip was quite exhausting, but thanks to our friendly, upbeat and always good-humored driver Francis it was an absolute highlight.
Francis showed us the big five (incl. Leopard 2x, but unfortunately the head was covered, too bad). And in Samburu the special five! Thanks to Francis' good eye, he often showed us animals that we could'nt have seen.
Francis is a great driver, we always felt safe and he told us a lot interesting facts about the wild animals and Kenya, he was always there for us, attentive and we often laughed together.
We would like to thank Francis from the bottom of our hearts for the time we spent together and we keep him in our memories. THANKS again - you're the best and we can only recommend him.

Our safari in Kenya with Charlie was a great experience. He was trustworthy and helpful, and we appreciated how many animals he was able to spot for us, especially lions. He always took time to answer our questions and made sure we felt comfortable during the trip.

Traumhafte Kenia-Reise!
Wir hatte einen unvergesslich schönen Urlaub. Unser super freundlicher Guide Mike hatte ein umfassendes Wissen über die Tiere, sprach perfekt deutsch und hat uns die Tierwelt und die wunderschöne Landschaft Kenias näher gebracht. Alles hat perfekt geklappt: Organisation, Unterkünfte, Anreisen usw.

Kurzer Bericht zu unserer individuellen 17-tägigen Kenia Safari Reise mit 2 Paaren vom 19.01.-04.02.2025, gebucht mit “KARIBU SAFARIS”

Alle Unterkünfte waren in Ausstattung, Komfort und Sauberkeit immer perfekt! Ein Hi-Light waren für uns die Rhino River Lodge und das Wilderness Camp Masai Mara. In der Rhino Watch Safari Lodge fehlte uns ein Tag! Das Personal war fast überall unbeholfen und völlig untrainiert, aber die unglaubliche Herzlichkeit mit der wir überall empfangen und bedient wurden, hat diesen Mangel locker wettgemacht.

Alle Naturschutzgebiete hatten ihren ganz eigenen Charakter und boten reichlich Gelegenheit die Wildtiere aus nächster Nähe zu beobachten. Eine Ausnahme bildete der Aberdare NP ohne besondere Wildsichtungen, aber mit einer absolut beeindruckenden Natur. Dichter Regenwald, Wasserfälle, tiefe Täler und auf über 3200m auch Elefanten. Wir haben diese Ganztagestour anstelle des geplanten Besuchs von Ol Pejeta gemacht und es nicht bereut! Ol Pejeta lag zu weit von unserer Rhino Watch Safari Lodge entfernt. Leider waren wir dort nur 2 Nächte, sodaß auch der Solio NP etwas zu kurz kam. Insgesamt gab es keine Safari-Tour auf die wir im Nachhinein hätten verzichten wollen.

Die Planung mit KARIBU SAFARIS hat zwar einige Telefonate gebraucht, aber unseren Wünschen dann voll entsprochen, d.h. möglichst romantische und komfortable Unterkünfte, kein Massentourismus. Wir wollten auch keine Konvois von Safari Fahrzeugen und natürlich alle Wildtierarten die Kenia zu bieten hat erleben. All das wurde auf dieser Reise voll erfüllt. Zu diesen Erlebnissen hat vor allen Dingen auch unser Fahrer und Guide “Charlie” beigetragen. Er war ein alter erfahrener “Safari Hase” und als “Charlie der Busch Pilot” überall bekannt und mit Kollegen gut vernetzt. 12 Tage hat er uns auf ca. 2200km begleitet, war immer ausgeglichen, humorvoll und hat uns kenntnisreich all die Hi-Lights die wir uns nur vorstellen konnten erleben lassen. Im Wilderness Camp hatten wir zwar zwangsläufig andere Fahrer, aber Charlie war unschlagbar und wir hätten uns keinen besseren Fahrer und Guide wünschen können.

Kleine Kritikpunkte:
1. Auf den Besuch des Samburu Krals hätten wir gut verzichten können. 100 US $ schon zur Begrüßung fanden wir reichlich überzogen!
2. Der Jeep, den Charlie für uns zur Verfügung hatte, war ziemlich überholungsbedürftig. Es regnete rein und auch unser Gepäck wurde einmal richtig nass. Wir sahen unterwegs einige neuere Wagen von KARIBU!

Was Interessenten wissen sollten:
Zu unserer Reisezeit war es durchweg kühler als erwartet. Schon Nairobi liegt ja auf knapp auf 1800m Höhe. Eine warme Jacke war also immer notwendig! Shorts und T-Shirt waren nur an wenigen Tagen über Mittag ausreichend. Oft hat man uns zum Abend eine Wärmflasche ins Bett gelegt.
Kartenzahlung war überall möglich, aber man sollte genügend KES für Trinkgeld mitnehmen. US Dollar hätten wir eigentlich nicht gebraucht.
Menschen mit Rückenproblemen sollten Abstand nehmen, denn die Off-Road Fahrten waren sehr anspruchsvoll und haben dem Fahrer und unserem Wagen alles abverlangt. Nicht umsonst wurde oft gewitzelt eine Safari ist auch immer eine “African Massage”.

Zusammenfassend waren wir von dieser Reise hellauf begeistert und werden noch lange von den Erinnerungen zehren.Wir können Sie nur jedem weiter empfehlen.

Every day we could feel his passion as a guide and he tried every day to fulfill our wishes, he drove extra miles for every animal observation just so that we as guests were completely satisfied. I would love to book a tour like this again immediately; if they weren't so expensive. But in the end the trip is worth every cent: highly trained guide, beautiful and special accommodation and super delicious food.

We, a family of four, booked an 8-day trip to Kenya as a private safari in Germany through Karibu. After a first night near Nairobi airport, we were picked up by Charly, the best guide you could wish for, and from December 24th to December 30th we traveled together to 4 national parks. The trip was fantastically beautiful and without any problems or incidents. Charly is such a friendly and committed person who inspired us and conveyed the life of the animals with a lot of expertise and took us to the best spots with incredible and unique impressions of the animal families. His own fascination for life in the reserves was noticeable at every moment, so that he enabled us to have a wide variety of experiences. At all times we knew we were safe and in good hands. The tent accommodations were consistently very clean, well maintained and safe. The food was varied, but always delicious and easy to digest. During the long car journeys, Charly answered our (many :-) ) questions about the lives of the people in Kenya in a very realistic way and gave us a little insight into how the culture and rituals of the people in the country shape life. We are absolutely thrilled with our trip, very grateful for such a competent, open, friendly and approachable guide and can only recommend the perfect organization of Karibu in Germany and Jeci in Kenya.
