I have members who their family trusts me with. April 2nd I had Margaret who turned 97!!! Took her to get her hair done; shopping and visiting at her home. Bought her a birthday card and a small Bundt cake which she loved.
I have about 35 people (members) who request me all the time.

Most unreliable for clients. Everything about this alleged service is set in favor of the "pals" who may pick up calls despite having no particular knowledge or experience with the requested tasks. They usually cancel at the very moment the appointment is due to start. I've been contacted by "pals" who seem to need their own senior aid. I've cancelled such appointments and the "pal" showed up anyway and got paid out of my allotment despite my having cancelled. I think my insurance is wasting money on this. After several months, it's rarely helped me.

Papa's does not concern themselves with the needs of clients. We must concern ourselves with the rules and accept no service if everything does not work out for them. Week after week I have received calls one hour before my pal was due here, telling me they couldn't schedule my pal. I booked the appointments weeks in advance. They keep banging my phone to verify appointments, But I estimate 5 out of twenty weeks someone I asked for actually showed up. Three of those weeks the girl did not do what I asked her to do the first weeks. She did not throw food I asked he to throw and threw food I did not want thrown out. Finally I asked her to just clean my bathroom and the baseboards. She did one of three baseboards, period. Nothing else. I gave her a temporary number to reach me on as my phone broke and needed to be replaced. She did not call me when she came the next week, she knocked and had Papa call me on my broken phone. Then said she threw the temporary number away, since it is temporary. I got no service. The next week I was not even scheduled and have no service again. I asked her to give Papa my temporary number which she has because I texted her with it. I have not heard a word from either. Basically, they claim companionship because they do not do any personal care and they are not really concerned with helping us. The girl was defensive when I asked her why she didn't call me and she chastised me saying it is my responsibility to make sure they can call. What? I did that! This is only the last pal issues. The service is about as rinky dink as it gets. Unprofessional would be a step up. When I did have a pal I liked, they kept sending people I didn't know. There has been so much nonsense and so little actual help, so many times, I give up. It is not ever going to be worth so much as the phone call to re-schedule appointments for help. It never helps. They are just sitting there collecting money, getting good reviews from those of us who can settle for companionship or a ride here and there. This company is riddled with unethical business practices. I was a caregiver for many years. I know the difference between a care "giver" and a care "taker". The pal I had last was plain lazy. It is just another scam. Forget service. They expect us to serve them.

I enjoy the work and the members. Unfortunately in Ca. We do t get mileage to travel to the members. I would take members further away from me, but the price of gas doesn’t allow it.

When I first began papa pal , I felt like I was finally going to be able to assist those in need. I was ready to make a difference. While I’ve had more good experiences than bad , I notice the service is turning into a cleaning agency. Some appointments are in big homes . The members want detailed cleaning , while the whole family still lives with them . The service is no longer for only members . It’s for the whole family. TBH e houses are upside down with mess. The other family members are bossing papa pal members around … this is no longer the norm. Papa pal is pushing the boundaries . If the cleaning is to be done in big homes they should pay accordingly.

Being a pal to the full extent of the pal is definitely much easier with the help of papa pal. It's not only a rewarding job but also the pay its a great incentive. Being of service is very meaninfull to me, and papa pal is helping me evolve.

I enjoyed first client. Light housekeeping and talked a little. I disliked second client and would have learned more through the availability of note reading.

I am a senior using PAPA Pals, through my health insurance. Papa Pals does not protect clients at all, only employees. It is unsafe, psychotic people can be hired, lie to management about you whenever their feelings get triggered, (in my case political differences). Unbelievable. They cut off my services for transportation assistance without even doing an investigation. I realized how vulnerable we are as members, seniors, at the hands of this careless, and unjust company. I am furthering inquire and complaint against them with my insurance company.

I honestly feel like this is more than a job. I meet so many nice people and help them. Many of these are elderly people who have no one. They are so grateful and I'm getting paid just to be kind. I also feel like the pay is fair. If this company offered health benefits I would work here full-time.

I had my first "pal" yesterday at night. It was right in my neighborhood! It was awesome, convenient and I had just finished my normal shift at work in Livermore, this was great! Extra money is awesome, esp when I didn't need to travel so much and do much.

So far it’s a great company to work for. I get paid right away!

Better communication, need to readjust the mileage from the destinations. They are not accurate.

I like the flexibility and helping others. Plus, I get to meet a lot of nice people I wouldn’t have met otherwise.

As a papa pal on my first visit I found the process to be seamless. The client was satisfied which made me happy.

This was my first attempt to use this service. My Medicare Advantage Plan kept sending me ads. They cover 60 hours a year.
So today, on my 67th birthday. I was going to use this service for the first time.
I had requested a ride several days ago.
I got two links to confirm this request. I confirmed both times.
I also got an email with the driver's name.
So this morning I was waiting at 7:50 for the ride at 8 pm. When at 8:10 there was no car, I double checked that confirmation link.
To my shock, there was a message that I had nothing scheduled! Then I found a note that my ride had been cancelled.
I called the customer service. After multiple steps (dob, phone etc), a rep confirmed my account. She then said that the ride was cancelled because the client was already on their way to the hospital!
Of course, I had not cancelled the ride.
Nobody from Papa Pal had notified me of this cancellation (even though they had requested 2 or even 3 confirmations from me!
I got another ride but was late for a very important appointment.
Very angry.

My mother was to be picked up on Tuesday.She talked to driver and got confirmation but they called back and cancelled due to driver quitting.
They confirmed another driver on Tuesday.She was to be here at 11 am but she called to say she would be running late.They called later and asked if my mother could go at noon.
Then today Wednesday January 21,2026 driver was to be here at 11 am.She showed up at 10:30 am.But she had to wait until 10:45 am for confirmation.
I finally told my mother that I will drive instead.
