Promising trading journal, but MT5 import needs improvement
I purchased the JournalPlus Lifetime plan for S$177.96 because I liked the idea of an AI-powered trading journal with a one-time payment. Gmail used for purchase: trendex.capital
Overall, the platform looks modern and the concept is genuinely interesting. I can see the potential, especially for traders who want automated insights instead of manually reviewing every trade.
Unfortunately, I had problems importing my MT5 trading history accurately.
MT5’s standard report did not work properly with the JournalPlus import format, so I had to convert my MT5 history into JournalPlus’s own CSV template. Even after doing that, there were issues with how MT5 lot sizes, CFD/FX quantities and P&L were interpreted.
After further adjusting the CSV, I managed to reconcile the overall P&L with my MT5 statement, but another problem remained. My history contained 421 positions, with 398 having recorded stop losses, yet JournalPlus’s AI Insights reported that I had placed 421 trades without a stop loss.
For a trading journal, accurate trade and risk data is extremely important because the AI analysis is only useful if the underlying data is being interpreted correctly.
Because of these issues, I requested a full refund of my S$177.96 Lifetime purchase under JournalPlus’s advertised 7-day money-back guarantee.
I am giving 3 stars rather than a negative rating because I still think the product has potential. The interface and AI-journaling concept are good, and I would consider trying it again in the future if the MT5 import and analytics become more reliable.
For now, I still prefer Edgewonk because I have more confidence in the accuracy and structure of the trading data.
Update
I will update this review once JournalPlus responds to my refund request and confirm how the 7-day money-back guarantee is handled.
I got my full refunds in 2 days. Update to 4 stars as the support given is excellent.
