À propos de l'entreprise
Écrit par l'entreprise
Since its inception in 1993, Koryo Tours has operated hundreds of tours and taken thousands of people to North Korea. We have also organised school trips and sports events (football, volleyball and ice hockey). We even introduced cricket to North Korea! We have made 3 award-winning documentaries, and are finishing off our first feature film shot in Pyongyang. It's a comic love story about a coal miner who wants to be an acrobat. We are also the foreign co-ordinator of the Pyongyang Film Festival. We also organise trips to 'rather unusual destinations', including tours to Turkmenistan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, and more!

Most Established Company For All Things North Korea
I've been a loyal Koryo Tours customer for many years, having traveled with them to the DPRK on six separate occasions over the years in the past. No one knows North Korea better. They've been running tours to this fascinating country longer than anyone else, and it shows. They have access to places that no one else seems to be able to cover, and you can see the genuine friendship and respect that they have with their local partners on the ground there.
It's been interesting to see how Koryo has adapted to the years-long closure of North Korea since the start of the COVID pandemic. They still manage to keep their Korea connection though. For the past two years, they've run a "North Korea from a Near Distance" tour that travels along the border region for glimpses of the country from south of the border, which provides some additional fascinating insights. DPRK experts accompany the tour and fill the time on bus rides and site visits with insightful commentary. It's a great way to keep learning about the North while its borders remain shut. I went on the Near Distance tour last year and had a lot of fun beachcombing for North Korean odds & ends on remote South Korea beaches that are just a few miles away from the North. Even found a couple military hats! I see that the North Korea from a Near Distance tour will be running again in September this year and I would highly recommend it. North Korea attracts many interesting curious individuals and you'll likely make some fast friends who share your similar interest on a tour like this.

Pioneering, brilliant tour company
I am writing as the author of the Bradt Guide to North Korea, and Koryo were instrumental in getting it done with accurate, up-to-date information, but they are the true pioneers of tours into the country, are very professional, their guides have outstanding relations with the local guides, and they really know what works - and what doesn't.
You'd need a solid week at the very least, 10 days or more preferable to see Pyongyang, Kaesong, and the further flung regions (compare the port of Chongjin with the trading town of Pyongsong, for example). It's intense, you're in a group, bussed everywhere, there's an itinerary to follow - but, listen to the guides, let them do their job, and they'll open up and you'll learn so much, and you'll leave as friends, and if you ditch the cynicism and see what's actually being shown, you learn loads. It's quite a story.

Best holiday ever
Best holiday ever. Truly knowledgeable & professional guides. We took our young children. 3- all below 12 and they loved ever second of it. Still talk about it now. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Was a "normal" an experience as it could possibly have been. So glad to have been lucky enough to visit DPRK. Great company

I have done two trips with Koryo Tours…
I have done two trips with Koryo Tours to the DPRK. One with the family (children 8, 10 and 12) and one with a football tour.
They are two of my dearest travel experiences and are unlikely to ever be surpassed. I don’t suppose there is any English speaking travel service that knows as much and can engage as deeply as Koryo Tours. It is not just their longevity but also the relaxed and easy manner combined with their mission to engage and demystify.
North Korea is populated by humans like you and I, living in a parallel universe. These guys will personally introduce you to both.

Great Tour Company - Top Notch In Every Way
I signed up for a four day mini-break tour of the DPRK in mid-August for the mass dance in Pyongyang, to celebrate their independence from Japan. Even though the mass dance was cancelled due to rain, they did their best to fill in the gap.
I've always been afraid of group tours, but the people I met are lifelong friends and the tour was very well organized. The tour guides were very knowledgeable, too.
This is a great tour company!
