To own a knife from KOTAI is an honor. To use it is to respect the ichi ban craft of forgers who know their profession well; bluntly put better than others.
I bought a bread knife. Comparing it would be silly—but suffice to say that cutting bread with it is like night and day compared to a “normal” bread knife!
If you want to treat yourself to something that will make you happy to “cut & slice” in the kitchen, then buy one – THE PRICE IS IRRELEVANT – the art of cutting is an incomparable reward.

Be aware of this company. They have a great marketing strategy wanting you to believe it is Japanese chef knives of highest quality with life time guarantee. In fact, the knives have no information on them whatsoever as regards the manufacturing country and the type of steel. The life time guarantee is not life time but only for manufacturing defects, that you realise upon delivery from them. After realising the scam we wanted to return the knives through the service Let´s Deal. We were promised that they would deal with the refund as long as we paid for the shipment. However, now they state we have to pay for the return to Kotai in France as well. Just talked to Swedish Consumer Authority and they advice me to start a procedure.
