I ordered 2 of the Leonardo fountain…
I ordered 2 of the Leonardo fountain pens (Momento Magic Folia & MZG Mosaico Sand)as they were a brand that I didn't have in my collection...Following the delivery of the pens, is where everything started going wrong. When I ordered the pens I decided to upgrade the nibs to their custom CSI Elastic nibs (which are more expensive, but I knew that I wanted a smooth and elegant writing experience, so the additional cost was okay).
When I inked the pens, I quickly realized a BIG PROBLEM. The nibs were scratchy and just horrible... I immediately shared the information with the Leonardo customer service team, as after they told me "that can't be true"... they agreed to send me replacement steel nibs, not the upgraded more expensive CSI Elastic nibs. So I agreed in effort to find a good and admirable solution as I really like the pens themselves. I received the replacement steel nibs and then realized the ones they sent me (a non-custom CSI nib) was exactly the nibs that I received with the initial order (installed in the pens). I again shared this with the CS team at Leonardo, even sending them video of the pens, the new nibs to show them they are the same horrible nibs that they sent with the pens... and I sent them a video of the pens writing to show how scratchy they are... the nibs actually ripped the paper as I wrote... Just crazy.
The email response I got from Alfonso Madonna with Leonardo Officina is "I'm sorry, but I can't help you anymore. I've done everything I could for you."
Leonardo must be in the practice of bait-and-switch with their more expensive nibs. I am not going to allow them to continue with this type of deceptive business practices. BUYER BEWARE!
