9 months and counting…

Just an update from my precious review. I ordered the “throne of glass bookshelf alley” in August 2024 with the intention of it being a Christmas present for my sister. It’s now May 2025 and still nothing. I reached out and all they said was that it’s “still expected” and that I’m “not eligible for a refund” since you can only request a refund within 48 hours of placing your order. They can take a year to ship, but we only have 2 days to cancel. I will never, ever be ordering from here again.

Shadow and Bone ♥

I ordered the Shadow and Bone set and it did not at all dissapoint! The shipping time was delayed and delayed, but the books are worth it.

Only issue I had was that I pre-ordered the box, and I did not receive the pre-order bonuses. A print and the key. I contacted customer support and they were able to send me the key for free. No print, but I'm happy with the key.

Birthday present turned xmas present turned birthday present

Same issue as Megan M who left a review. I ordered the Throne of Glass Alley back in August 2024 as a birthday present for myself. Spent £70 on it. Fast forward to october, I receive an update saying it will be around Xmas time I get it. I’m annoyed but alas I say it’ll be an xmas present to myself. Fast forward to today (8 months later) still no product that I paid for when I placed the order (came out of my account) and no idea of when i’ll get it. Pretty sure this is illegal to take a payment for a product and still not have it 8 months later. Looks like it’ll be a birthday gift for this year for myself. Not happy.

Some Good/Some Bad

I have ordered a few books from them in the past, which were very nice quality and fun collectables to have. However, they do often run into "printing mishaps" or other delays which cause your order to ship MONTHS after it was supposed to arrive. (I had one that was supposed to come in early May, but ended up shipping late August)

I wanted to give their customizable box a try and that again was delayed from a late February/Early March delivery to a mid April. My box arrived with a hole in it, which I know is not their fault. But one of my items was damaged, the key ring was bent and the bag the key came in had a weird crusty thing on it. I contacted them thinking I could at least get a small discount or points towards another purchase, but all they said was "can't you reattach the key ring by bending the loop?"..... I paid over $50 for this box I shouldn't have to do that?? But oh well, all I did was unsubscribe.

The books are lovely printed and I would recommend those by themselves. However, the other content in the box is not worth the price (one of my secret items was 4 stickers...really??) Also, don't plan on getting these for a gift because you could be delayed on anything for up to 3-4 months, but they do contact you about it all with updates so that is nice.

Truly horrible service

Truly horrible service. I bought an item that was advertised as a holiday gift — little did i know, it wouldn’t even ship until March; 3 months after the holidays. Then it finally ships, but is never delivered. LitJoy has completely waived their responsibility for it, says it’s the courier’s issue. No, it’s the issue of the people WHO TOOK MY MONEY FOR THEIR PRODUCT AND NEVER DELIVERED IT. maybe get a more reliable courier in the future.

They take money and don’t deliver

My daughter ordered from them in the past and although the shipments were always late, they eventually came.
Not this last time. She ordered a box almost a year ago and she still doesn’t have the box. She reaches out and is told next month next month after the new year. Then it was spring time. Then it was “unforeseen delay”.
This company is disreputable. Do not order from them. You will be kissing your money goodbye.

Not worth it.

Signed up for a year of their subscription box. Half of the time the box came extremely late with little to no explanation. You also had to make sure you made your picks the day it opened otherwise they would run out of the things you wanted. The products are of low quality and equivalent to diy projects from Hobby Lobby.

Awful Customer Service

Ordered months ago for the Nov. TBR. After multiple delays with no complaint, I finally received a package in January. Opened it wrong book. Tried to contact was told I didn't select a choice. ( definitely knew i did select the book)I asked to exchange. I declined after being told I would have to pay for shipping 3 times. Not even worth it. So disappointed after waiting months.

I had signed up for the tobeeread…

I had signed up for the tobeeread subscription. I had paid for the first book subscription in September for the Novembers box. There was so much delay for the box. There’s little to no updates on the box. I finally received my November box at the in of January of 2025. The extras wasn’t worth the money you paid for the box itself.

Delayed for over 6 months

I originally pre-ordered my fíance some book series set in February as a Valentines Day gift with the assumption it would be completed by mid June. The release date of June comes around, and to our surprise its delayed. And then it was delayed in July. Same thing in August. And then no communication there after until December. And in December, while we are still waiting, they put it on sale. While putting it on sale they refused to refund us the difference (which was over $100). During these "updates" they gave us, they included absolutely no information and was truly a giant FU. Eventually the books arrived on Christmas eve. Do NOT order anything from them.

Better subscriptions out there…

Was a subscriber for other 3 years until I noticed how inconsistent the quality was, which just got so poor on their boxes. Some individual items they do well so I suggest just buying specific items as necessary. The boxes felt like a poorly done cash grab for the company. Very disappointing customer service also with items that came broken. Received the same item broken twice and just gave up. I still buy the odd items but stay away from their boxes at all costs. I have also never experienced such high shipping costs for any company ever.

Never using LitJoy again

After the disaster with continual delays with the SoC boxset, I thought to give them another chance with Shadow and Bone. But alas, exactly the same problem with the expected delivery date continually being stretched with each shipping update. Ended up straight on eBay as it arrived too late.

BEAUTIFUL PRODUCTS - 100% worth the wait!

Last year I ordered the LitJoy edition of Alice in Wonderland and it is truly a treasure!! Everything about this book is exquisite and magical. The pages are almost board book like in their quality and the cuts outs and pop ups are simply perfect. I RAN when I saw they were releasing a reprint of this book. I can't wait to gift my loved ones with this treasure. If you are considering buying a LitJoy product (especially one of their special editions) it is 100% worth the wait!

Magnificent special edition books, top notch customer service

Back in January, I ordered a Nevermore Raven Teacup & Saucer from LitJoy (among other gothic things) and the handle broke in-transit. The customer service team was so nice and promptly shipped me a replacement. The other items I got were in perfect condition (Gothic Horror book set and the gothic accessory items)

I love LitJoy!

I love all the books and products from LitJoy. I got the Folk of the Air special edition and it's the favorite thing on my shelf. I get the To Bee Read box set now and love getting the choice on my books and products. One of my favorite things is that they listen to customers. I swear they did the 2nd restock of the Folk of the Air set just for me :). Being a Lunacorn is my favorite thing because I feel like I'm in cool club. I'm a fan.

Avoid at all costs.

When I first signed up for Litjoy’s To Bee Read subscription box, I was so excited. However, not even 6 months later, I can honestly say I will never do business with this company again. They are unprofessional and, like someone else stated, their actions make it seem like they feel they are entitled to your money.

In January, I purchased a pre-order item set to ship in May. I wanted to cancel the purchase and reached out to customer service to do so before the pre-order window closed. Again, this is a pre-order item which hasn’t been shipped yet. When Litjoy customer service responded, after the preorder window had closed, they refused to give me a refund stating I should have cancelled before the window closed.

When I told them I did, they backtracked and said orders have to be cancelled within 48 hours of them being placed to receive a refund. They then referred me to their refund policy which explicitly states they will not give refunds for items once they have shipped. It doesn’t matter if the items are opened, untouched, or even received by the recipient. This gives the buyer absolutely no recourse whatsoever while ensuring the company’s profits remain unaffected. I'm honestly not sure how it's legal.

Naturally, I filed a chargeback with my credit card company because they gave me absolutely no other way to get my money back for an item they have not sent me. After investigating, my credit card company determined that LitJoy was at fault, as they cannot refuse to refund an item that hasn’t been shipped.

Since the dispute was closed by my credit card company, I have received three emails in the past 7 days asking me to cancel the chargeback and saying they will “make an exception" if I do. First, according to my CC provider, this is literally impossible since they contacted me after the dispute had already been closed. Second, their "exception" involves promising me a refund once the chargeback is closed minus the $25 in rewards points I used for the purchase. Meaning, I am still paying an amount for the item and just not getting it since I had to spend money to earn the rewards points. Until the chargeback is closed, they refuse to allow me to access any other rewards points I have accumulated from purchases on their site. They have actually gone into my account and issued me -10,000 rewards points with the label, “chargeback" to penalize me by erasing all my points earned and preventing me from earning anymore.

I even debated submitting this review because I am frightened by their behavior; however, I truly want to save others the distress that I’ve endured. Now, I get anxious whenever I have to check my email because I’m nervous about what they may do next to get me to cancel a chargeback that’s already been closed. I have never seen this level of unprofessionalism from a company.

Do not trust them with your money. I wish I had read these reviews before I signed up for their service. Do not make my same mistake. Avoid at all costs.

Item shipped months late with no help from customer support

I ordered a book in June 2023 and tried to cancel it when they announced that it wouldn't be shipping until the fall but couldn't get a response from their customer support. It had been so long since the order that I thought the cancellation had actually gone through and had forgotten about it. Then today I get a notification in mid-February 2024 that they're shipping the book. Got in contact with their customer support finally and was told they don't accept cancellations or offer refunds. So it's okay for this company to regularly ship things months and months late with no explanation or apology, but you're not allowed to cancel your order when they fall through on their end of the deal?

I've spent hundreds of dollars on their site over the last few years, but there's no way I'm ever ordering from them again after dealing with their so-called customer support on this. Don't buy from them if you want to actually know roughly when you're getting something you paid them money for or if you want a helpful response back from their customer support. Their responses read as though they feel entitled to your money without having to deliver on their promises and the other reviews here validate that. Really gross behavior after all the forgiveness and patience we all gave to them when they were having shipping delays during Covid, which they've apparently not tried to fix.

Edit: I tried to leave a review of the book on their website and confirmed my account through email, but the review never showed up since it had negative things mentioned. The new positive reviews are showing though. Really shady practices from this company.

Waiting for 4 months, now being ignored..

Getting real damn tired of waiting for a book box I ordered in APRIL!! Keeps getting delayed and now they won't answer any questions I have. They are just leaving me on read. I made the mistake of ordering a second set in the series they are doing and my bank won't let me dispute charges more than 4 months old.
Their constant emails of "On track to ship" turn into "Delayed" then back to the "on track to ship" to delayed into the NEXT YEAR!!! Why not be transparent and just say this is an extreme pre-order. Then we get emails saying not everything we paid for will be included, so we are getting an e-signed plate. Disgusting.
