This was my first time ever looking for a company to help with first time home buyers. I submitted my information for a Loan officer to reach out to me. I then got a text from James Hair with his information and link to "get pre-approved" but unfortunately since I dont have good credit which is one of the requirements he stated the next step is to work with their credit specialist Natasha Stewart to help boost my score and remove any bad reports. He provided all her details and since I have a good chunk for a down payment I decided to reach out to her- without thinking to do any research on her since James and Lonestar Financing seemed to be really legit she let me know she can help, that my credit was a easy fix and could get me glowing results after 2-3weeks with a charge of $700. I am only 27 years old and as excited as I am to even look into buying a home and going the right route to get fixed what needs to be done I also decided to ask her whats her business so I can look her up and check out her reviews before sending her money, she automatically questioned me why and that I should had done my research before I messaged her. All I was provided was with screenshots and a slideshow of screenshots of reviews that are old still couldn't provide me a proffessional link or references. This all has been back and forth texting since 8am and it is now 10:30am- not only did her and James Hair made a group chat to harrass me they continue to call me broke and say they dont have time for a "brokey". I will not recommend to even look into this company for any assistance and I am glad I never sent any money to "successful", "high FICO scores" people who are so disrespectful.

My first time home buyer experience

I highly recommend Lonestar financing. Thanks to our loan officer Jimmy Smith for helping us through everything. He has been a true blessing to our family. Jimmy made us feel like we were part of his family and put our needs first. I am truly grateful. He went above and beyond for us. And today I can finally say we got our first new home. The Best Experience Ever...

My experience with Lone Star financing was very good and positive. Other companies had closed their doors to me until I took the task of searching for other companies and found Lone Star Financing. My loan officer Jimmy Smith is the BEST (#1), efficient, very attentive and helped me from start to finish, in approving my loan and was always there for me and my family. I am very grateful for all your attention and commitment to us. Thanks to Jimmy Smith and the team at Lone Star Financing I was able to buy my first home. Our experience with LoanStar Finance has been overall Awesome!! I had Jett and Adam working closely with me on our boat finance. Adam and Jett were both patient and consistent with their works and I would definitely recommend LoanStar for any future finance.

My experience with Adam@Lonestar could not have been any better. From start of the process right through to organising insurance just before settlement, Adam did an amazing job. He kept informed on every process and secured my finance in a fraction of the time of my current financial institution. Would highly recommend.

Definitely DO NOT recommend

Definitely DO NOT recommend. Does not return calls after promising approval. Been waiting roughly a month for a call back now. after he convinced me to go ahead and let him run a credit check because he said we should be APPROVED . Based on information id already receieved from Rocket Mortgage. Go there . Not here. The guy was horrible and hisassistant was worse. Promising call back after call back. And then lying to us about status of the application. I REPEAT! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THESE PEOPLE.

These are some of the greatest people to do business and work hard for you. Everything they said they would do they did it and Amy the loan Officer called me several times, text us and email us on her sick day off to get in touch with us due to our fault. Don’t believe nothing negative about this Mortgage Company that goes the extra miles some people don’t know when to count their blessings.. ...Blessed

First Time Buyers Come to Lone Star!!!

I wish I could give Dale and his team 10 stars. These guys really buckled down and did all the dirty work that was needed to get me approved. Being a first time buyer I was scared, but Lone Star was the best. They have great communication either by phone or email. I had several unexpected surprises pop up durning my loan process. It was hard at times and a little frustrating but if you are willing to go that extra mile and do what Lone Star asks, I promise you will be a home owner....JUST LIKE ME!!!! Thank you Dale, Roman, Sherina and the entire Lone Star team. You guys made a dream come true for a little family in Deep East Texas.....God bless you all.....

Step 1: Call Dale Step 2: Close

Dale was very knowledgeable. I knew that my loan could be closed, but several lenders told me it couldn’t be closed. I just needed an experienced lender. Dale will advise you to prepare for your loan and get you to closing.

Local folks were great

Local folks were great, however the back office team seemed overworked. Several things were requested late or multiple times. Deal got done but last few days were unnecessarily stressful.

They made the home buying process a… NIGHTMARE.

**Edit to respond to their response**
1. The change of job was disclosed from the get go. I was told it wasn't an issue by Dale Gremillion, we just needed a cosigner for a year. Which we had, and a very good one at that.
2. Once you start the process with this company, they are TERRIBLE at returning phone calls or emails. TERRIBLE.
3. The repairs were EXTREMELY minor and were made within the same week as getting the FHA inspection report back.
4. The realtors office we worked with doesn't work with mostly with cash buyers. Complete opposite, actually.
5. The response on my review is a perfect example of the unwillingness Dale or Lone Star Financing has to take responsibility for ANYTHING.
6. Do NOT buy into the "close in 30 days" thing they will try to sell you on from the beginning. We started our process on March 24th and closed on May 30th. While that isn't a horrible amount of time to close on a property, it could have been at least 15 or 20 days less, had communication and issues on the financing side been handled in a timely manner.

Point of this is, yes, we did close on our property.. that I am grateful for. But when your realtors office AND title company ask you to please never, ever work with this company again, it says something about their way of doing business.

They made the home buying process a nightmare. It was like pulling teeth to try and close our loan. My realtor has been in the business for 40 years and said this was the absolute worst company she's ever dealt with... and I believe her. It was miserable. Finally closed because I pushed and pushed to get it done.

We understand that the process was longer than anticipated, however we had income issues with the primary borrower leaving his existing W-2 job during the loan process and then having to add a non occupying co-borrower that was also remote. Combine this with the rural nature of the property, the repairs that had to be done to the property and the long lead time for the appraisal, this actually went fairly quick given the issues. Most lenders would have simply denied this loan once income issue was discovered, however we went over and above and made several exceptions to get you into the home. I realize your only point of reference was an agent that probably deals mostly with cash buyers, so I know you don't understand everything that was done to make this happen for you. We wish you many years of happiness in the new home.


We don't typically engage in continued back and forth, but the facts are different from what you have presented. We are more than happy to take responsibility for any delays that we caused and we did take longer to get this file completed as the loan was not as straight forward as presented and had moving parts that changed as we got more documentation. True the primary borrower leaving his job was disclosed, but it was after the loan application was a taken and signed, The co-borrower while in your opinion was great was self employed, had declining income and a job gap due that had to be explained and overcome. This was not disclosed upfront and only became an issue after reviewing the documentation provided. Guidelines typically don't allow for declining income, nor a gap in employment therefore extra documentation was required and obtained via 3rd party. Again this file could have been denied at that point for this one fact. In addition, the appraisal was also held up by you specifically as you didn't want it appraised until the seller replaced the roof, which took over a week.

We are not saying that this loan file went smoothly due to all of the moving parts, and since you don't do this everyday I know it was frustrating, but the loan closed 100% due to the extra work your loan officer put into this file to explain and lobby for you to get exceptions and make it happen.
