if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
this negative review started because i was disappointed that a possible hdcp issue while connecting an ipad air to the regular ray projector isn't covered in the faqs or by the customer service when i asked them explicitly if it would work before buying.
this means i can't watch netflix, and the customer service had the audacity to inform me that "90% of the customers buy the smart (version) to watch netflix directly". (i would if i wasn't constrained by my budget. 🤷🏻♀️) i get that the hdcp issue is beyond their control, but this isn't the response i was expecting (among others) from the ridiculously positive reviews online.
now i'm just pissed because they've avoided giving me a direct answer on when my negative review on their website is going to be approved ("that will be handled by the reviews department"), and i'm not sure how long the marketing team needs to "manage" this hdcp issue in their faqs. i do not care for the full refund they've offered because i'm expected to buy bubble wrap to wrap everything back up, only to have them dispose of everything because it's been used.
this is all just a nightmare- from allowing myself this small luxury during this pandemic, trying to do the due diligence by checking with the customer service directly that it would serve my purpose, only for it to not, to realising that they have no regards for plastic and electronic waste (duh), and possibly not having my negative review published at all.
for what it's worth, here's the review i tried submitting:
bought the regular one after combing through the faqs and checking with them if it works with an ipad (they said yes).
turns out, what the faqs and the customer service failed to mention "the possible hdcp privacy issue where apple adapter may block content features to protect IP if any device/wire is not deemed compatible". so now, i can't watch netflix. i definitely didn't get this to watch youtube, because that's all i can do. if this possible issue had been made clear, i could've decided if i wanted to take the risk or not.
support also asks me to connect to a laptop despite me telling them that i do not have a laptop.
