We rented this villa through Airbnb and paid the required cleaning fee as part of the booking. During our stay, we treated the property with care. We vacuumed and mopped the floors regularly, cleaned the kitchen after cooking, and kept the pool area tidy.
After checkout, the host first contacted us about a few empty beer bottles that had been left behind and wanted to charge an additional €50. A few days later, we were informed that another €100 would be deducted from our deposit because the villa had supposedly been left “in a mess.”
This was disappointing. If guests are expected to leave the property in essentially the same condition as check-in, it raises the question of what the cleaning fee is actually for. Normal signs of use after a stay by seven people should be expected, especially when a cleaning fee has already been paid.
The villa itself was decent, but there were a few downsides. One of the bedrooms was located in the “cinema area” with no windows, and that area relied on a single air conditioning unit that struggled to keep it cool. We also had ants coming from behind one of the beds. Additionally, there are indoor cameras in the villa, which made the stay feel less comfortable from a privacy perspective.
Overall, the villa has potential, but the additional charges after checkout and the expectations regarding cleaning left a negative impression.
