I was a kind of accidental client, coming to Lyons Bowe through Will Aid. Everything was done very professionally and I was helped at every step. I had a few delays while consulting with the rest of the family, and Lyons Bowes firmly reminded me to get on, but in the politest possible way! Then there was another glitch with the dating, but LB were admirably patient.

I recently completed my house purchase with Lyons Bowe, and their services were fantastic. The process was handled by Katarina Donovan and her team, and it was a great experience overall. Although there were some delays due to various reasons, the overall service and communication were excellent.

I am very pleased with the process of selling my house. Lyons Bowe has been very prompt and helpful. I recommend them to anyone who is selling or buying a property.

The Lyons Bowe tagline is 'Innovative, Reliable, and Client Focused'. I'm afraid they checked none of these boxes in my matter (a property purchase as a first time home owner). I will give credit to the New Instructions and Legal Team who were efficient and responsive. However, the wheels fell off when my matter was transferred to the Exchange and Completions Team. Here is a summary of the comedy of errors that added unnecessary stress and inconvenience to my transaction:

1. In the lead up to exchange I wasn't told when to pay my deposit or how much should be paid.
2. I was given incorrect banking details - their accounts state in bold red letters to pay only to the account mentioned in the Welcome Pack. Those proved to be out of date.
3. Only after some chasing was I told on the day of exchange what I was meant to do. The result was that exchange was missed and occurred a day late.
4. I was given incorrect advice about buildings insurance when phoning in.
5. I first requested my completion statement on 8 Jan. This was provided on 24 Jan around midday. This was only one clear business day prior to completion which put my purchase at risk of not completing as prior arrangements needed to be made with my bank.
6. I was overcharged stamp duty by £8700!! Given the time pressure I was under (thanks to LB) I paid the amount stated as being required in my completion statement, trusting that my solicitors would not make as elementary a mistake on the amount of stamp duty due.

While my purchase did complete on the intended day, Lyons Bowe was inattentive and fostered in me no trust that they had things under control. They were recommended to me by the estate agent and I have told them about my experience in the hopes that others will be directed to more reliable solicitors. I am myself a solicitor, so was especially disappointed by the service I received. Poor show.

This is a super organised company with helpful staff. They dealt with me in a professional, friendly way and showed patience and understanding during my enquiries.
