I use Maestra as part of my PhD…

I use Maestra as part of my PhD research, and it has been one of the only transcription tools that worked reliably for Tamil when many other platforms simply failed or produced unusable results.

My research involves interviews and workshops conducted in Tamil, often with different dialects and conversational speech. Maestra handled this far better than other tools I tried, saving me a huge amount of time and emotional labour during transcription. The interface is straightforward, and the output is clear enough for academic analysis.

What really sets Maestra apart, though, is the human support. During an unexpected disruption to my research timeline, their team responded with genuine empathy and flexibility. They didn’t just treat it as a technical issue, but as a research reality.

For multilingual researchers, especially those working with Tamil or other under-supported languages, Maestra is a rare and valuable tool. Also, great customer support.

Highly recommended.

Terrible support, no trials

Terrible support experience. They will not offer a trial of their upper plan levels to be able to test out core functionalities. Instead, you have to pay $199 just to see if their solution will work. Try someone else.

Excellent Platform for Live Captions and Translation in Church Services

I am currently implementing Maestra for live captions and real-time translations (Spanish ↔ English, English ↔ Spanish, and other languages) in a church service setting, and the experience has been very positive.

The accuracy of both captions and translations is impressive. Even in a context with biblical and liturgical language—which can be challenging for AI tools—only a very small number of words are occasionally missed or require adjustment. Overall, the quality is far superior to the free captioning tools we previously used.

Another aspect I truly appreciate is that the platform is constantly being updated and improved. It is clear that the Maestra team listens to user feedback and works actively to refine the product. As a user, that gives a lot of confidence in the future of the platform.

Maestra has helped us overcome language barriers and make our services more inclusive and accessible, without disrupting the flow of the liturgy. I believe this is a platform with strong potential and a very promising future, especially for live events and multilingual communities.

Highly recommended.

A good option for deaf parents

We need software to transcribe lectures and group discussions for deaf parents of the children with speech and language disorders we support. The transcription works reliably even under challenging conditions – as does the translation. Mike from Maestra provided us with an extensive trial period and offered a contract tailored to our needs.

Not all that glitters is gold: Appalling customer support once they take your money

Steer clear of these shady dealers. Once they take your money, you won’t easily hear back from them if the product fails or doesn’t meet your requirements.

A couple of months ago, while searching for a transcription solution for my podcast, I came across their website. I signed up for a free trial and tested their products, which initially seemed to satisfy my needs. However, once I upgraded to a pay-as-you-go plan, things went downhill. The key feature that convinced me to purchase credits started giving me trouble due to server issues on their end.

I contacted customer support, and they replied asking me to try switching browsers — which I did — but the problem persisted. When I emailed them back, they never responded. I even contacted them again a week ago, and still no reply.

This is unacceptable.

Good experience

I like that they offer a pay-as-you-go option. I do not use it enough to buy a subscription. The file that I had transcribed had both English and Spanish. Maestra handled them both without a problem. I expect to use them again in the future.

Stay away

Stay away.

Just spent 199$ to get like 1800 credits just to login up 6 hours later and found I was left with 0 credits and no translation/transcription operated by me.

No one answer to my tickets and idk how and if I’ll get refunded for that.

We purchased their premium sub, thinking we could use their product to translate from live audio from english to danish. However their chrome extension, works so poorly, it takes 5-10 seconds to process a sentence, and what comes out translated make no sense. Thinking it was an algorithm issue, we upgraded to Business to get the DeepL algorithm instead. Same issue, however upgrading didnt just upgrade the plan, it took the full price for both premium AND business!!
When you are logged in and not using the service, it still counts your minutes down, so if you forget to logout out, your minutes for the month is gone and you need to purchase more. Extremely predatory.
DO NOT TRY THIS.

EDIT: We reached out via their own contact formula, but their never returned an answer or any money.

All of it and more!!!...

I was a little skeptical at first. I was searching for transcription software that could handle multiple languages, switching of languages and I was separately searching for a place to share video with co-creators, and on top of that a place for creating subtitles. Maestra does it all. The team were amazing. Yes, there was some technical hitches - this was to be expected, new computer, new task, my own rusty skills. The team were on calls with me, working on the back end and planning integrations with Premier Pro to make it all happen. Best money I've spent this year without a doubt, and they even gave me a student discount. Couldn't be happier with the service, the software, the AI offerings and my purchase. Thank you

Total waste of time

Total waste of time. They bait you in as if the service is free or at least your first transcription, the it spits on a pargragh that's about 5 sentences and say create a free account and take you right to a payment page. I would have gladly paid if they were upfront, but they wasted 30 minutes of my life. Ugh! I am going to spend as much time as it take to share how awful my experience was. I'm also going to make youtube explaining to people to stay away. They also FORCE you to accept the ALL of their cookies but the conveniently hide the generate transcript button beneath the cookie bar. Deceptive, very bad people. DON't waste your time.

Terribly sorry to hear about this experience. Yes we do offer a minute for free and then require you sign up. We used to offer more, but unfortunately, people were creating multiple accounts to get around this system. I hope you understand why this wasn't a viable business option.

As far the concern around the cookie bar blocking the transcript button I am sure that is a user interface issue we will either look into or has been solved. Either way, we appreciate your feedback. Please feel free to email our support as well for any further challenges.
