Dear Carla,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are genuinely sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations.
However, we would like to clarify a few important points for transparency. Nowhere in our listing do we state that the property is soundproof. Cedar Villa is clearly advertised as a shared accommodation, and as such, guests should reasonably expect that others may have different schedules and routines. While we do request all guests to remain quiet during late hours, some level of noise can unfortunately occur in shared living environments. Guests who are particularly light sleepers or who require complete silence may find that a private, self-contained home better suits their personal needs.
It is also clearly stated prior to booking that this is a self check-in, non-staffed shared property. There is no on-site overnight staff, and this information is available before confirming a reservation. It would not be fair to describe this as a lack of service when the operational structure of the property is fully disclosed in advance.
Regarding the disturbance mentioned on Thursday 15th January, although the incident occurred overnight, we were only notified the following morning on the 16th. As soon as you informed us, we asked follow-up questions to identify the guest responsible and took immediate action. You were informed that we were attending the property, and the guest causing the disturbance was removed. This demonstrates that we do act when issues are reported to us.
We must also clarify that while we manage the property and can address issues when notified, it is impossible for us to control individual human behaviour 24 hours a day. Our responsibility is to intervene once we are made aware of a problem, which we did. Any situation where a guest feels personally unsafe should always be reported directly to the police, as they are the appropriate authority for such matters.
You mentioned that we did not provide the service paid for; however, all amenities and services advertised in the listing were provided. The behaviour of unrelated guests is not a service element but a factor inherent to shared accommodation, which is clearly described in the listing, including that some noise may be expected.
We always strive to provide a positive experience and appreciate guests’ cooperation in shared environments. However, it is equally important that guests carefully read the listing details and ensure the accommodation type aligns with their expectations and preferences before booking.
Kind regards,
The Team
