Mary Ward Centre Avis 

As a model I worked here for a four day session and I would never work there again. The teacher was very nice,as were the students but dealing with the Mary Ward Centre was a nightmare. I spent more hours trying to get paid for my work then the total of the hours that I actually worked there.
Communication skills are non existent, they don't respond to voice or written messages and when you finally manage to speak with someone they never do what they undertake to.
I eventually got paid for my work there however an apology wouldn't have gone amiss for all the stress they put me under.
Would I recommend them to fellow models or artists ABSOLUTELY NOT

I did a course on Visible Mending which I would highly recommend. The tutor was excellent and taught us various different techniques for mending fabric and knitwear in creative ways. There was plenty of opportunity to practice with materials provided. It was also a fun course and well organised. The college is in a nice new building a short walk from Stratford station and with a cafe on site. I enjoyed the course and thought it was good value for money. I would definitely look to do another course there.

Last day of my silver jewellery making course and I’m so sad as it’s been AMAZING. Deba and Sally the tutors are really knowledgeable, friendly and supportive. I can now confidently make silver rings and set stones in bezel settings, much more than I expected to learn in such a short amount of time. My fellow students were fantastic as well. I would definitely recommended.

Have tried to enrol via the website and have been left in limbo partway through the registration process, with an unintelligible error message. One of the worst web experiences I've had in the past year. I'm sure the course would be good, but your website is more barrier than gateway.

Although tuition at Mary Ward is excellent, administration is utterly appalling. It is proving quite impossible to enrol for a course, no one cares in the least to respond to enquiries whether by email, phone or by online message form.

A great organisation undermined by its staff. I doubt if the Chief Executive has any idea just how appalling the admin is - and what do the trustees know about it?

I thought I’d have a look at MW courses as I’ve done excellent courses there in the past. I was very disappointed to see that you’ve moved to East London. There’s no way I’m travelling from South London to Stratford so I’m going to have to look elsewhere.
I did notice that you have a Blackfriars campus but couldn’t find a way to find out which courses are run there. Is there a quick way I can see what courses are run at Blackfriars?

Absolutely the friendliest place to learn that I've ever been to. Love the staff, love the courses and love Alaa who runs the cafe.

All my general enquiries was responded within 1-2 working days, but when i applied and PAID for my courses, i have been emailing asking for updates and haven't received a response for 2 weeks. I sent them a test email from different email address and got a response the same day…. I am so confused, have i been scammed?

I was keen to join the course on Ancient India commencing 23 Sept but no details of the course were given on the website. I emailed the course admin address on the MW website but received no reply. When I managed to speak to someone at the Centre all she could tell me was that it was strange and she would enquire. How could anyone sign up for a course without any information about it e.g. what areas, periods and themes would be covered. Disappointing.

Recently I was helped again when a debt company was pressuring me to pay for a service I did not use who has taken court action against me for non payment.

Typed up a letter with evidence of my financial circumstances to the solicitors working on behalf of the debt collector. The solicitors on reading the letter stated they were no longer pursuing the case against me, although the debt company has proceeded to ask me for further payments I am more than happy & very grateful for the exceptional work of this advocate & have no hesitation in recommending this legal centre as an exceptional force for advocating on cases in debt, housing, benefits etc.

Mary Ward is a gem - quirky, welcoming, and a great place to learn a huge range of skills and interests. I enjoy the excellent teaching (thank you Helen Maurer) and the great bunch of classmates who come in each week from all different parts of London and from different backgrounds and ethnicities and we all gel well in the friendly & positive mix. My Glass Fusion classes are the highlight of my week - great fun!

Course cancelled AGAIN due to lack of numbers. Can’t believe there aren’t enough people in London do run an Anthropology course.
Is it lack of advertising in suitable places?

Mary Ward is transformative. The teaching there is different from what we all experienced as children. ‘Learning’ is facilitated there - there is no indoctrination. And there, you meet others who want to learn and who are curious about life. There is never a dull moment although plenty of hard working silence. Go. Try it for yourself!

Really great location (but moving at end of academic year), excellent tutors teaching great courses. Welcoming. Good cafe. Affordable. What’s not to love.
