Mightier is a child-centered, evidence-based, digital program that uses biometric feedback from a heart sensor so children learn, practice and apply lifelong coping skills through game-based play. With both online and offline activities, Mightier supports the development of the whole child so that kids can live healthier, happier lives. Developed at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Mightier is clinically proven to help kids ages 6 to 14 prepare for life's big emotions. To date, more than 2.5 million games have been played on the Mightier app by more than 100,000 kids. While kids play games the heart sensor allows them to visualize their emotions in real time. As they become overexcited, frustrated, or stressed, they learn strategies to calm down and regulate their emotions. By practicing strategies in the game, they build a toolbox of coping strategies to use in real life. Mightier’s Parent App provides insights into their child's progress and includes articles and resources to support their child's development. Offline activities such as conversation cards, puzzles, etc. further supplement skills to create a holistic emotional regulation program for families.

My children (7, 9, and 11) all enjoyed playing the mightier games. They were also able to learn about how their body and heart rate responds to their feelings as well as various cool down techniques. I have not seen this cognitive knowledge transfer to behavior in other circumstances. We still have many outbursts and intense reactions in our home. However, this knowledge about their heart rate and the visual meter that they use in the games have given us a vocabulary and mental model that allows us to discuss what is happening in their bodies and how it affects their behavior. I think this is a good first step. Hopefully eventually with time and practice they will actually be able to apply this cognitive understanding.

I would recommend this program to any one that has a child struggling to manage strong emotions! We have been using Mightier since September and this program has contributed to decreased outbursts, improved self-soothing behaviors and improving our son's ability to "get the day back on track."

I am amazed how this device actually helped my son (age 8) calm him self down. I have tried every sensory toy and gimmick out there. Spent thousands at OT. He knows all the techniques and and what he “should” do, but the impulse control was so out of control that he could never implement any technique. Knowing my son, I knew I wasn’t going to see any results on just 1 or 2 months so we signed up for a 6mos package. I made sure he played at least 15min a day every day. Sure enough around 5.5 months I caught him doing the deep breathing exercises just as he was about to go “off” on us in a meltdown. The Mightier helped him build body awareness of what his body feels like in the “red zone” and how to recover quite quickly. It has truly become muscle memory for him. After 6 mos it was quite hard to get him to use the tablet (he is demand avoidant and routines are hard for him) so I decided to cancel our subscription. I also know he sometimes needs a break to reset. I noticed a decline around month 8 since he started looking to other screen. He noticed the decline too and asked to start using the Mightier again as he liked how his body was feeling when he practiced more often as I think we quit before he completely solidified the technique.
I was able to easily resubscribe again with just a click. My son takes the initiative to practice his game time on the Mightier.
Overall very happy. Best value and results for the money compared to all the other therapies and tools I have spent on him.

I liked the concept but the price of the tablet is alot. For a tablet that only allows the mightier app to be played 300$ was too steep of a pricetag.

We spent October through December using Mightier to help cope with frustration and the biofeedback was just what we needed. I knew when my son had his fill when getting Lavalings became easy while still playing no matter how challenging the games got. "Lavalings" became a household word and eventually my boy did figure out the therapeutic element to the gaming. A fun intro for our family to gaming. Seeing the benefit of retreating into playing as well as setting limits and good communication. Win win all around.

Kids loved the program for about three months. They have lost all interest in it. And that’s a shame because the techniques taught are great. Graphics and game play need to be updated.
