A little history...Mill Timber Direct was established as a sawmill outlet store in 2016 in Croespenmaen near Crumlin in South Wales. In 2023, the store was re-modelled as a Mon Timber branch, to introduce new products and services offered by timber specialists Mon Timber (already well-established in Newport and Cardiff), to the local Crumlin and Valleys area. Our Crumlin branch is still located right next door to a sawmill, so we can supply timber directly from the mill.
Mill Timber Direct is now the online store for Mon Timber and with branches in Cardiff, Crumlin and Newport we can deliver across South Wales, the South West of England and nationally across the U.K.

Great quality, poor communication!
The products were great quality and the prices were great! I've given only 4* though as they didn't contact me about delivery, as promised, it just turned up! As soon as I placed the Internet order, I rang to ask about a delivery date. They assured me they would contact me to arrange a suitable time. I was going to add some things to the order. But 9am on a Monday morning, there was a knock on the door! I'd not had time to prep an area for it, so I ended up double handling it all!

Disappointed with the quality of timber.
I ordered 100 pieces of 25mm x 50mm which were picked up in 10 pre-banded bundles of 10. As they were pre banded, my builder couldn’t inspect them, but I did as soon as they were delivered. Of the 100, 10 pieces were broken or spilt; another 7 were warped and there was a high number of timber that were from the centre of the bundles that were black from surface rot/fungus which took a lot of work to remove before treating. I would say that at least 25% of the order was not fit for purpose; safe to say, I was disappointed with the quality of the order

I choose mill timber as they are across…
I choose mill timber as they are across the road from my house. Seemed easy enough for them to deliver quickly.
I payed for delivery (£10) which I was willing to pay as I couldn't have carried my items from the Croespenmaen site to my house or fitted them in my car.
However it took almost a week for me to receive my items. I find this baffling as I literally live less than 2 mins away from the site.
Upon delivery I was greeted by a nice man who carried them into the back garden for me and placed them in my lawn where I needed them. He was polite and respected my property.

Once again, the help from Cardiff has been great. They were happy to arrange a collection for a return although in the end I kept and used the goods.

Non delivery
Ordered timber L trim to cover corners on shed.... Website says in stock, expected delivery 7 to 10 days.....called about my order on 2 occasions, told of new delivery dates, both of which have now passed, only to be told today, the only depot with these in stock is in Cornwall !!! Cancelled order, bought with much smaller company and being delivered tomorrow !
