Overall I had a good experience with MNP so far on filing a consumer proposal. Alana Orrell helped me. It was a complex journey with credit cards debt from festival organising, educational, some consumer and medical debts, and so I was glad to find a manageable solution. After comparing 4 agencies I started to work with one, then the agent took a long time to reply, it was not clear it she would get back to me so I returned to the 1st lady but they were not an accredited agency (fee was way too much for me even though they were nice), I ended up doing the proposal with MNP.
Initially the form to complete with details seemed overwhelming and complex as well as the agreement (the official legal document which I assume was standard for such things). Alana helped me to understand it better and also as an astrologer I appreciate that she was willing to file the proposal within a specific time frame (I am doing an informal research on astrology timing).
Anyways, the proposal was accepted by banks recently and I hope things will go smoothly with payments.
I would recommend checking articles on their website. The whole process from research to the news on proposal took me 4 months, about 3 months from the initial online consultation.
The only thing I’d prefer to be different is to be offered some visual summary of options however the email was helpful after the 1st consultation as well as the rest of the correspondence and help on filling out and understanding the documents. My case might have been easier than some other probably because I did not have mortgage debt and was single and had no dependants.
I think it is important that you trust the consultant and agency and things get done. There is perfect one solution for everyone. Communication style differs of debt insolvency companies and agents, if they are not responsive enough it might be difficult to collaborate. All was fine in my case.

Rude
Rude. Rude rude. This woman Linda either did not like her job or just hated life. Either way she splashed it all over me. As someone who is a nurse and trying to assist her husband with the bipolar debt he racked up, the last thing i needed is a hostile attitude. She threw some crazy numbers out and made out like my house would be part of the proposal. I could tell this was not the company for us. If you have ANY assetts, run.
At some point they give peace of mind.
I fall behind on all my debt payments all of the sudden our company went slow and cut off o.t’s. I have nothing to run when i heard advertising on the radio 310-DEBT i call right away. Keerthana and Nancy was helping me through out the process patiently , Now i have peace of mind and confident that at some point i have a chance again to build my credit back to normal in the future.I don’t mind their attitude coz i know how busy they are helping others.Helping a person to get a debt relief is all that matters. Life’s sometimes you go up sometimes you go down. They change people lives they give hope. Bless up and more powers MNP.
insulting, condescending and abusive
Similar to others on the reviews for MNP here, I have NEVER been spoken to with such little respect and more judgement than from the women who work at MNP. They are insulting, condescending and abusive, you never hear from them, if I have a question, I don't want to call because I don't want to be yelled at again. I have no idea where I stand with my consumer proposal because of this. Don't use this company and I don't recommend them to anyone!
Was not overly pleased
Did a consumer proposal with them. Saved a few thousand dollars, but nothing crazy. My main complaint was that I never heard from them, no statement or anything. I would have appreciated seeing my progress to keep my enthusiasm up. Once I was done they took 4 months to give me my certificate, and gave me barely any advice or help about repairing my credit. I just feel like I had to keep chasing them for information. I would have appreciated being guided and helped throughout the process and especially after!

MNP did an amazing job advising us on what was best for our high debt issue. Joey Zanni prepared our proposal and walked us through it all so smoothly and stress free. Very impressed with their knowledge and the process they take to get things done efficiently. They never once judged us or made us feel uncomfortable. They were very respectful in treating us as good people with unfortunate bad debt. James Rosney guided us through budget planning and debt counselling sessions and we learned a lot of new and interesting information from him as well. Thank you MNP you really honestly did exactly what you said you would do for us and we are so grateful!!l
We had Wesley Cowan as our advisor…
We had Wesley at the Listowel ON office as our advisor, helping us negotiate our finances with our creditors. The consumer proposal is definitely a stressful endeavor but Wesley made us feel that there is light at the end of the tunnel. We experienced loss of income due to a sudden disability which made our situation go from promising to dismal. This seemed like a perfect option for us. We are very thankful to MNP for letting us keep our dignity and get out from under this dark cloud of debt.

Find another company to help you
Everyone one I dealt with was rude and condescending. Make no mistake, when it comes to filing a consumer proposal they are not impartial and will do whatever they can to get the most out of you, trying to force you into bankruptcy instead. If they should happen to be required to return money to you they drag it out as long as possible. If they send you documents stating funds will be sent no later than a certain date, don't believe them. Money was to be sent to me no later than Dec 31, I had to send a couple of emails before it was finally sent Jan 12. Go to any company other than MNP if you should find yourself in financial difficulty, you're more likely to be treated with dignity and respect. My PTSD and Anxiety were exacerbated because of my dealings with them .
The Worst
I have never encountered a company with a worse work ethic and worse customer service than MNP. If you are an individual paying for services and not a corporation flush with money, you will be ignored, even when you remind them again and again to complete the tasks you have paid them for. As a survivor of trauma, I didn’t expect to be traumatized again by my accounting firm, but I was. MNP treated me as if I did not matter, they treated me as if they did not care. So sadly I am looking for an accountant who will treat me as something other than a worthless nuisance.
