$107 gift arrived spoiled — no resolution offered

I ordered the “Greatest Hits” gift box online from Murray’s Cheese as a $107 gift, and the experience was extremely disappointing.

The recipient was home at delivery, refrigerated everything immediately, and followed proper storage practices. Despite that, most of the cheeses were already spoiled when opened, with visible mold that made them inedible. The only usable item was the brie. The stracciatella also had a shelf life of just over a week from delivery, which is very short for a shipped product. There were also no storage instructions included in the box, which would be important for a gift like this.

We contacted customer service and were asked to provide photos, which we did for two items. Based on communication that replacements would be sent, the remaining spoiled cheeses were discarded.

After more than a week of emails and phone calls, we were told they would only replace the two photographed items and not the rest of the spoiled cheeses. At that point, I declined partial replacements or credit and instead requested either a full replacement of the gift box or a full gift certificate—both reasonable options given the circumstances. Neither was provided.

As the purchaser, I am now out $107 on a gift that could not be used, with no meaningful resolution offered. I have since initiated a credit card dispute.

Very disappointing experience with both product quality and customer service.

My grandchildren gave me a gift for their Globetrotters cheese club one cheese stored in refrigerator in the shipped wrap for 4 weeks and got molded! Sent an email to Murray’s and got template responses. Very unhappy never buy from them

Failed delivery. Blames FEDEX. Food expired.

Been ordering from Murray's Cheese for close to 10 years. I give their packages as gifts to clients. This year, like always, I ordered in early December for a 12/23 delivery so it can be as fresh as possible for my clients family Christmas Eve party. It did not arrive. As I write this on 12/26, it still has not arrived. MC blames FEDEX, although my gifts that I shipped all seemed to get to their destinations. MC says it can't anticipate shipping delays. They also say their ice packs are good for 72 hrs. Well, then maybe they should ship a day early to guarantee on time delivery.
Oh, and the client had to go out on 12/24 to supplement his appetizers because MC did not deliver. Guess what this client will remember when thinking about me? And dont try to call or use the website to respond. Neither are attended.

Extremely Unreliable, random "Out of Stock"

I ordered a wheel of Tete de moine from Murrays on December 11th. On December 16th I received an email saying that it was shipping soon. On December 22nd, I realized I had not received it yet, so I reached out. On December 23rd, they replied via a cold email saying it was out of stock. I have company coming over tomorrow and now I won't have this. Totally unprofessional. They should have been reaching out proactively, and offered some sort of remediating solution when they realized they were effectively screwing us.

Stay Away

Keep away from these people. $64 down drain. Ordered Nueskes bacon.order delayed they said. Sent me replacement bacon not what I ordered. Bacon was foul. Wanted pics, receipts, etc. I guess they didn’t believe me. No offer of replacement or compensation or an apology. Nothing. I’m out $64.00. STAY AWAY!

Although Murray is arguably one of the best purveyors of cheese in the country, their web site is horrible.
I have ordered from Murray 6 times , I have had problems every time . In the past 2 days I’ve spent an hour trying to place an order and have simply given up

We ordered $150 worth of cheese for a…

We ordered $150 worth of cheese for a Thanksgiving party. House full of people. We ordered —and paid—in advance for Tuesday delivery. Murray’s never got the order out. When I called them on Tuesday and said the Fed Ex tracking wasn’t updating, they said “you should have called us earlier” and it’s too late to get your order out. As if it were our fault. Never ordering from them again. Not reliable

Review? We don't need no stinking Review

Write a challenging review and they do the worse thing possible, THEY IGNORE and simply don't post it. Now that's a great way to keep the star value higher, but doesn't do what reviews are meant to do, INFORM. They responded via email to my review saying I should have picked a cheese that was more to my liking, but chose not to add the review to the page for that cheese. The funny thing is, I love strong cheese, but this stuff was bad, not stinky or funky in that strong cheese kinda way, but bad in that I'm gonna regret this in the morning kind of way. I'd have to say about 1/3 of the products I've received have been older and real close to expiration, but edible. But after this last experience. I'm done.
