My mother had a stroke in October 2021 and spent 10 weeks in hospital. I contacted Neurophysio Scotland before her discharge to discuss home visits and they were very positive and informative. She has had a few weekly visits now from Martin Towey and genuinely looks forward to it, and although Martin always stresses that it is her doing the work, I know how much she has benefitted from the sessions. She has gained confidence with every visit and it encourages her to keep positive and continue her progression.

Gold standard neurophysiotherapy
My husband had a carotid artery dissection and MCA stroke aged 39 in May 2021. He had right-sided paralysis. He had excellent acute medical care and made some functional recovery in hospital although this was limited. He was discharged 3 weeks after the stroke barely able to lift his right arm and with little function in his right hand. He was able to manage stairs with a stick and assistance. He required an ankle splint and a stick to walk. He struggled with transfers. We were advised that there was a significant backlog to the community stroke physio team and it may be some time until he would be seen as an outpatient. A friend who is a physio recommended Kenny & Cassie describing them as “the best in the business”. I contacted them and we arranged close to daily sessions on discharge. Everyone who was involved with my husband’s care was exceptional. From Rosie ensuring appointments were scheduled appropriately to each of the specialist neurophysiotherapists with their incredible care, compassion and in-depth specialist knowledge. No two sessions were the same to ensure my husband was constantly making progress. They provided exercise programs for when they weren’t there as homework and even provided zoom sessions when we had to isolate due to a covid contact. Within a few weeks my husband no longer needed the splint or stick. Stairs and transfers were no problem. He was able to lift the children (our youngest was 3 months at the time of the stroke) and do the school and nursery run independently. It is now 3 months since the stroke and he is driving, has returned to work and is doing everything he could do pre-stroke. Kenny, Cassie and the team have been critical to his recovery. We cannot highlight this enough. 11 weeks after discharge he had an appointment with the nhs community stroke team physio. We will be eternally grateful that thanks to Kenny, Cassie and the team he spent those precious 11 weeks under their expert guidance, particularly when time is so critical to recovery, and not waiting on his rehab to begin. He continues to have regular sessions and sees improvement every time. They provide first class patient centred care and the results are incredible. They really are “the best in the business”.

Brain tumour rehab
After an operation to remove a brain tumour, I was left unable to walk and very weak and uncoordinated all down my right side. I spent 3 weeks in hospital, and was assured by the NHS that I would receive full physio rehab. Then I was told it would be 6 weeks before anyone could see me.
My wife found out about Neuro Physio and that is when we met Kenny. To be honest it was the best thing that could of happened. Over the course of the next few months Kenny got me back to a place I didn’t think I would ever be again. His knowledge and expertise not only helped me physically, but mentally too.
I would recommend Neuro Physio Scotland to anyone, and can’t thank them enough for the help they gave me.

Game Changers & Lifesavers
We throw about phrases like "game changers" and "lifesavers" a lot, but I have no hesitation in showering Neuro Physio Scotland with many hyperbolic descriptions and praise.
As a 25 year old man (boy?) with left sided hemi-paresis after a ruptured AVM, I turned to Cassie and the Team for support after very little help from my local Health Authority. Now, they are "game changers" and "lifesavers" in their own right but once the outstanding in-patient care is over, they struggled to offer a decent level of continuous recovery that could match most young people's aspirations in terms of mobility or function.
I've gone from a crutch, to a walking stick, to completing a 10k for charity, all with the guidance and support of Cassie and the expertise of the entire Team. I've burst through pain barriers I never thought I'd break, I've managed to do things no one could have believed I could achieve (push-ups should be banned, however!!) and I have the mobility and function that lets me enjoy being a Dad, something I never thought would be easy.
All these milestones were achieved by working with Neuro Physio Scotland. Cassie's knowledge and expertise is incredible, her patience is that of a Saint when you have a super low pain threshold and the confidence she breeds through tracking progress and celebrating the smallest of milestones is work of magic.
My wife and I will forever be indebted to Neuro Physio Scotland for the quality of life we lead. I could not recommend their services highly enough. If you are in the fortunate position to ever secure their services, I believe it's the best decision you will make.
Neil

Responded quickly to my email to get physio support to my mum in the care home. NHS delayed 2 months. Rosie very supportive and arranged first session quickly with Julie. Julie assessed mum and gave care home staff instructions on how to increase mums mobility. In just three sessions mums mobility has improved considerably. Julie proved excellent feedback to me verbally and in writing that I could follow up with home staff.

A Great Neuro Physio
I’ve been working with Kenny Thoms for around five years, initially for surgical rehabilitation and then for ongoing physio for mild cerebral palsy. He has been so encouraging and supportive throughout. He regularly changes my physio programme to keep me motivated and always pushes me to be my physical and functional best. I’ve seen huge changes since we started working together – hopefully there’s lots more to come!

Professional and knowledgeable
Physio respective of my home. Friendly and personable, whilst remaining professional. Explained everything I was asked to do and set 'homework'. Focused on my goals throughout and used positive, motivating language to help me. Seemed knowledgeable about my condition, and set exercises accordingly. Overall, a very good experience that helped me progress towards my goals

My physio is the best
I find my physio very encouraging and she listens to me. She gives me exercises to do each week. When she can't find them on the Tele Hab app she writes them down for me and offers to send me a video of her doing the exercise if I need it. With her encouragement and support I see a marked improvement every week.
