Damaged Japanese lamp and disappointing customer service
I ordered a black FUKU Cherry Blossoms Japanese table lamp from Nippon Boutique on September 26, 2026, for delivery to Finland.
When I collected the parcel on October 5, I was extremely disappointed to discover that the lamp had arrived damaged. Its black frame was cracked, and part of the frame had come away.
I immediately contacted the company and sent five photographs clearly documenting the damage and packaging.
A representative named Mathilde replied, expressing sympathy and asking whether I had photographs of the shipping box before opening it. I explained that I had not photographed the box before unpacking.
Unfortunately, after my reply on October 5, I received no further response, no proposed solution, and no offer of a replacement or refund as of October 14.
I find this particularly disappointing because I purchased the lamp from a specialist Japanese decoration retailer and expected both careful packaging and professional after-sales service.
Receiving a damaged product is unfortunate, but leaving a customer without a resolution is even more disappointing.
I would strongly advise potential customers to be cautious when purchasing from Nippon Boutique, especially when ordering fragile items for international delivery. Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend this retailer.
