Avoid: Aggressive Management, "Ghost" Bookings, and Stolen Parts

​I had a deeply concerning experience with North London Appliance Repairs. I would strongly advise anyone to look elsewhere for appliance repairs.

​1. Unauthorised Booking: I used their online form for a quote, explicitly stating in the notes that I required a quote for landlord approval before any booking was confirmed. They ignored this, sent no confirmation email or text, and dispatched an engineer anyway.

​2. Lack of Identification: The engineer arrived without identifying the company. As I'd heard nothing at all since submitting the enquiry form, and hadn't confirmed any booking, I was expecting a contractor arranged by my landlord, this led to a significant misunderstanding and I declined their demands for the invoice to be paid, as I had not hired them.

​3. Missing Components: After an unauthorised "diagnostic," the engineer dismantled the dishwasher door and left the premises with the PCB control module, LED glass, and door knob. When I requested the return of these parts, the engineer denied taking them, despite leaving behind an empty casing and loose screws. These components (property of the landlord) have still not been returned.

​4. Aggressive Conduct: When I disputed their "Repair" invoice (no repair was ever done, in fact the machine was left in pieces and now completely inoperable without the missing parts), the manager was extremely aggressive on the phone—shouting and making threats of "legal action" within a matter of hours to pressure me into paying. He again ignored the clear specification in the form he'd then forwarded to me - requiring the repair quote to be sent before confirming booking.

​I have formally reported this company to Trading Standards and have filed a Police Report regarding the stolen property. If you value professional service and the safety of your home appliances, avoid this company at all costs.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE -TOTAL SCAM AND EXCEPTIONALLY RUDE

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. This company are total scammers. Quoted £75 for callout. When he arrived he looked at the dishwasher and said we needed a new part as it was not heating the water. Fiddled around with a few knobs making it look like it was not working and said I needed 'a new board' as well. I could see what he had done and I simply had to reset it making it clear there was nothing wrong with the programming. Tried to charge £80 instead of £75 quoted and added on VAT which had not been mentioned before so I ended up paying £90 for the callout instead of the promised £75. Told me it would take 14 days to get the part. I decided to order the part myself (as agreed with them) which took 48 hours. Before ordering made numerous attempts to speak to them to confirm the part I needed which ended up with him putting the phone down on me without answering my question. Once I had the part I tried to get them to come back to fix it but despite numerous promises they did not come back. Waited in for two days for him to come. When I rang at end of day 2 to ask what was going on and to know when engineer would be coming, I asked if they would refund the £90 if they were not going to send anyone. Said he would not refund the money and simultaneously refused to tell me when/if the engineer would come and then put the phone down on me. I rang five times yesterday but got no answer. This was followed by an email which they have ignored. DO NOT USE. Three weeks of handwashing the dishes and £90 down. Do yourself a favour and save yourself a lot of stress by finding a decent company to fix your appliances.

I would give them 0 star if I could! DO NOT USE THEM! They are crooks, liars and their behaviour is vile! The so called customer service is this useless man who shouts on the phone. Shame on them! I don’t know how they can still operate. I wish I read the reviews before booking them. Please read all the negative reviews, they are true.

North London Repair Centre - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I needed a washing machine repair. I googled what the 'error code' was on my Bosch machine (a new 'motor' was needed). I called to book a repair and I gave this code to the person. When the engineer came, he told me what i already knew, that a new 'motor' was needed. I then asked him why the person who took the call didn't find out what make and model machine I had? Then they could have simply ordered the motor/part and made an appointment to fix my machine when the part was delivered. But no, this company charged £84 for a totally useless visit, KNOWING, that they will then need to go away, order the part and then come back for a second visit. Thus getting two lots of call out fees. Unscrupulous and deceptive. I called to speak to the office and was shouted at by an extremely rude man who then called me a C*"T. To say I was shocked and upset is to put it mildly. There was no aggression on my part, but plenty on his. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Aggressive and didn't fix the machine

I booked through NAC, not realising my booking had been sub contracted. I finally found out the engineer was from North London Appliance Repairs but apparently too late as they refused to return to complete the fix. I've been fighting to get a refund or the repair completed but they were exceptionally difficult to deal with during the call. I found the man on the telephone quite aggressive and unhelpful.

Please avoid

Please avoid - dreadful

Booked online on 03/12/25, chased as received no confirmation - told they can’t do it recommended another company. Other company can’t do it so went back to North London Appliance Centre, rebooked for following week. Told me they had ordered parts and appt confirmed.

No one turned up. Waited in all morning for them. No one called,no updates, chased office twice, office said engineer will rebook, engineer said he doesn’t have the parts and office will rebook. Heard nothing. Called back the following day to be told they would ring back. Didn’t hear anything, called back again to be told they can’t help.

Now have a broken oven right before christmas and have lost ten days waiting around for appliance centre only to be hung up on.

Really unhelpful customer service, wasted so much time, left me high and dry, not so much as an apology.

Don’t accept jobs you can’t do. Please just have some integrity and be honest with clients from the start.

Appalling

It is absolutely disgusting to have a company with such disrespectful and rude staff. Would highly discourage anyone from using North London Appliance Repairs.

Bob, was very friendly, extremely experienced and offered a great service and gave us the reason for our integrated washer/dryer issue and how to avoid it.

Avoid this company

Avoid this company – dishonest, rude, and untrustworthy
I paid £95 for an engineer to assess my 6-year-old Smeg dishwasher. He took a cursory look, found a bit of water in the base, and told me it wasn’t worth fixing — then immediately pushed me to buy a cheap Indesit replacement from Appliance Repairs for £350, which I agreed to under pressure.

They failed to deliver the machine on the agreed date, offered no explanation, and were rude and evasive on follow-up calls. I then cancelled the order and was promised a refund within 5 days — which still hasn’t arrived three weeks later.

This company operates unethically: poor diagnostics, hard selling, false promises, no communication, and outright rudeness. I’ve now had to pursue a refund and report them to Trading Standards.

Avoid them at all costs.

Excellent cost-effective service

My engineer (Bob) came twice - once to diagnoses the problem and once to fix it. Both visits were covered in the cost-effective initial charge. Bob was on time, pleasant and very courteous. He did a great job and I will always now try to get him back if anything else goes wrong (hopefully not).

WARNING!!!!

WARNING!!!!! DO NOT USE THEM!
I have just come off the telephone with this company and the 'person' (if he can be called that) who answered the phone told me to "F...... off" and put the phone down on me.
We had an engineer come out on Tuesday for our washing machine who (after much faffing around and having to call the office and send pictures to them) told us that we needed a part. He said he would return on Wednesday to do the work required.
He didn't turn up on Wednesday, so I called yesterday (Friday) to explain and ask why no one had called us. This resulted in me having the phone put down on me!!!
I called again this morning (Saturday 9 November)...and asked whether they were open for business. The reply I got was "of course, that's why I answered the phone". I explained that I had called yesterday and had the phone put down on me and asked whether this is how customers get treated. He dropped the F-bomb and put down the phone. DO NOT USE THEM! Uncouth, unprofessional and no idea of customer service.

FRAUDS

An engineer came out on Oct 7th and told me I needed new hinges and it would take 3-5 business days to arrive. He charged me £192 as I had to pay for the parts in advance.

I have called 3 times for an update and they kept saying 3-5 biz days. I called again today Oct 22nd for an update, and they said they would speak to the engineer and call me back with an update. I said no, I'd rather get my money back and he hung up. AVOID THESE SCAMMERS- I will be reporting to the small claims court today.

Useless company

Calling from the overseas, tried to book online but no response, called up and booked an appointment. Received an email after the booking time had passed with an invoice. Called them again only to be told "but we never confirmed" after being talked over and then knowing we are overseas, they said better you call someone else. Would never use this useless company. Being charged for not turning up, and being told it's my fault. Useless.

Update 23/09/24

I still have the email that shows I received an invoice for payment for a job that no one turned up to after the time that they were supposed to come to the property, no other email was sent before the invoice, no pre payment link, nothing.

Plus as you can see the name says MICHAEL RICHARDS, not Sujatha Selvaratnam, but I shouldn't be surprised that this company can't even get the name correct to the person they are speaking to.

The negative reviews are all warranted for this company, everything the other reviewers have said all happened to me.
