Have worked for the Guild for 3 years now and would highly recommend them as a Nursing agency.

Even when I had a serious car accident and was hospitalised they sent beautiful flowers which was a lovely gesture and several follow up emails to make sure I was ok and recovering well.

The pay is fantastic!! And I feel well supported in all I do

I have over 22 years experience in…

I have over 22 years experience in Palliative care. I have experience as a phlebotomist and a swapping for Covid. I was told it's not in an acute settings or in a medical ward therefore l would not have the required qualifications as a HCA. I mean really are you looking for HCA staff or not? No wonder the health care system is all over the place if they have a agent like SNG hiring staff. I think SNG needs to look up the meaning of Palliative

Scottish Nursing Guild can make up all the excuses in the world. A Healthcare assistant is a Healthcare assistant. Going on to any medical ward, palliative care ward or Care of the elderly ward, it is about having compassion with dealing with patients. We don't hand out medications as HCA's. I actually think SNG have not got a clue about what really happens on any ward. After all it' is an Agency and therefore run by Administration. Clueless

Réponse de Scottish Nursing Guild

Hi Valerie, we’re sorry that you feel this way. At the Scottish Nursing Guild, we recruit to extremely high standards. Part of our recruitment process is to ensure nurses and healthcare assistants have recent experience in acute settings before we place them as agency workers. As you know, agency work can be challenging and we need to ensure that our workers are confident and competent with current clinical policies and procedures, in order to hit the ground running as soon as they arrive on shift. The best way to do this, is to ask that all new applicants have at least 12 months clinical experience in an acute setting, in the last 18 months. This is also something our clients expect from us. I have spoken to our recruitment team and they confirmed that we unfortunately do not have any work available at the moment in line with your palliative care, nursing home experience. If this changes, please do get in touch as we’d love to have you on board. Best wishes, Sarah at SNG.

I had been with the SNG for over 17…

I had been with the SNG for over 17 months, and generally had had no issues. Recently however I have had to spend 1 month chasing up payment owed to myself and the experience has been dire to say the least. I have yet to be paid, I am assured on every call to payroll it will be ‘paid as soon as possible’, yet here we are 1 month later and still no payment. More annoyingly is the fact that it is down to me to keep chasing this, no one I have spoken to takes responsibility to ensure I am paid. This has drastically reduced my confidence in the Guild as a trustworthy employer.

Hi Kerry, I have spoken to our payroll team and flagged this issue. I understand it has now been resolved. I do apologise for the delays in this payment. If you have any further questions, please get in touch. Thanks, Sarah at SNG.

Great, supportive organisation

Great organisation to work for, always on hand to give support 24/7 if you run into a problem. Value their staff and that is reflected in the rate of pay and other incentives. Easy booking system using an app. Only criticism I’d have would be the length of time from application to sign off, it appeared there was a miscommunication regarding my PVG that resulted in a delay. When highlighted, it was dealt with that day and I was signed off within the week. I’ve now worked 6 shifts and I’m really enjoying working for SNG. Grateful to be part of their organisation. Would recommend 100% - various people I work with in the NHS have applied.

band 5 not accepted

Apparently due to the fact I work in a medical observation unit as well as doing nursing bank shifts in both medical and surgical wards I do not have enough experience to be clinically governed to be on the agency? Although I am able to take bloods, iv, meds, dressings etc. this is not enough?

Following this poor response from guild I'd also like to add my ward is open at night. And we're a medical assessment unit so we do look after extremely
Unwell patients.with a wide variety of patients so I don't understand where your excuses are coming from

Hi Lolly, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry that we have been unable to proceed with your application.

Whilst we are in no doubt questioning the experience that you have, we must comply with the expectations that our clients ask from us.

Due to the last minute nature of our shifts, our workers have minimum support when on shift and are expected to hit the ground running and, as a result, we have a robust recruitment process. This means that we can only place our workers in areas we can reference them for.

At the moment, as we do not have any work in for observation wards, we would be unable to reference for this. For medical and surgical wards, we require all applicants to have a 6 least months experience (within the last 24 months) of working within the same ward and doing at least 8 shifts a month. The wards need to have patients staying overnight and also look after acutely unwell patients. The referee is asked as part of the reference to confirm how long and how often they are working with you.

If you are working within the same medical or surgical ward when on bank shifts and feel that you can meet our reference criteria, please get back in touch with our recruitment team and we can discuss further.

Kind Regards, the Guild

DO NOT APPLY TO THIS COMPANY

Please update this. I got a phone call today and was interviewed. But due to lack of hospital experience, I was turned down and advised to reapply after 6 months. I may only be working in Hospital settings for a month. But, I received a number of training to prove my qualifications as band 3. I also worked as HCA for over 5 years prior working in Hospitals and has RQF Level5 qualification. Stop attracting people by putting up incomplete requirements on your website.

Northern Ireland
Band 3 or equivalent
Currently work on Medical, Surgical or A&E wards and are already NISCC registered or willing to be registered
Have clinical observations and NEWS2 training
Currently work in Mental Health wards/facilities and have Level 4 MAPA (ideally registered with NISCC)

Would not recommend.

Hi Gie, we appreciate you sharing this feedback and we’re sorry that you felt unhappy with the service provided. We require all HCAs to have a minimum of 6 months experience in the last 2 years, working on medical or surgical wards. Our clients request this experience for all placements so unfortunately we cannot make exceptions outside of this. These requirements are available for all to see on our HCA specialism webpage: https://bit.ly/3tqUtrg. As the team explained over the phone, without this experience we unfortunately cannot proceed with your application. The call you attended with our team was an initial a screening call. Official interviews would be at a later stage if all criteria has been met. Please get back in touch once you have gained the required experience and we would be happy to re-start your application. Kind regards, The Guild team

So far the rest of the team is very good except the payroll team which had put us under a tight corner of after working we should suffer also to get our pays by the strictness of PDFs. It’s not easy really. We will be happy if the rule can be loosened for our benefits as well. Thanks
