We love our campervan, BUT...
We absolutely love our van and try to get away in it as much as possible—it’s been the source of many amazing adventures over the past year, and we’ve travelled to every corner of the UK.
The van had 80,000 miles on it when we purchased it, so we expected some maintenance along the way, and that’s part of owning a used vehicle.
However, our experience with NW Motor Trade and Nick has been mixed. While we’re thrilled with the van itself, the aftercare and communication have left something to be desired.
Here’s a breakdown of the issues we’ve faced over the past year:
1. Tracking – The tracking was out, costing £57 (this was reimbursed by Nick).
2. DPF Filter Blockage – A major warning appeared, and repairs cost £299 (Asked for reimbursement, Nick challenged the price we paid and no reimbursement provided)
3. Leisure Battery Replacement – Cost £240. The supplied battery only lasted about six months. To be fair, Nick had advised it was a basic battery, so we would have upgraded it at some point anyway.
4. Front Wheel Bearing Replacement – Cost £296.54. We attributed this to wear and tear and didn’t ask for reimbursement.
5. Injector Failure – Cost £333, which was agreed to be covered under warranty. However, despite multiple attempts to follow up, we’ve been waiting 8 months for reimbursement and still haven’t received it.
6. Timing Belt Change – Ford revised their timing belt change interval, so we decided to get this done for £1,400. We didn’t ask for reimbursement for this as it was a preventative measure.
In total, the van has cost us an additional £2,600 in maintenance, with just £57 reimbursed by Nick. While some of this was expected wear and tear, and we didn’t ask for reimbursement on all items, the 8-month wait (and counting) for the promised injector reimbursement has been frustrating. Unfortunately, all attempts to contact Nick have gone unanswered.
Summary:
• We absolutely love the van and have had countless memorable adventures with it.
• With 80,000 miles on the clock, we knew some maintenance would be needed, and we’re okay with that.
• However, the lack of follow-through on promised reimbursements and poor communication have left us disappointed.
Would I buy from NW Motor Trade again?
It’s difficult to say. If the promises for reimbursement had been met, it would be a resounding yes.
Would I recommend NW Motor Trade to friends or family?
Probably not, as I wouldn’t want them to experience similar issues with aftercare.
I hope this review comes across as fair and accurately reflects our experience with NW Motor Trade.
