I honestly cannot express how grateful I am that we found Helen.

My 16 year old daughter started therapy with her in November, and she is genuinely a world away from where she was then. The way she is now able to articulate her feelings, sit with difficult emotions rather than deflect them, recognise when she needs help and actually ask for it has been incredible to see.

She had been very reluctant about therapy and had already been through three different therapists. She always had this underlying worry that a therapist was somehow there for the parent rather than for her, and that she couldn’t be completely open without being judged or worrying that things might be shared.

With Helen, that has completely changed. My daughter feels absolutely safe and free of judgement with her. She opens up, trusts her and genuinely looks forward to speaking to her, which for a teenager who was so sceptical about therapy is absolutely massive.

I’ve seen such a difference in her confidence, her body image and body dysmorphia, and particularly in the way she understands and handles her emotions. Helen has given her a space that truly feels like hers.

Helen is absolutely brilliant at what she does, and seeing the change in my daughter over these months has meant more to me than I can put into words. I’m incredibly grateful that we found her.

I have been with oakdale since 2020 and still use the service now. Originally we had sessions for our daughter as she was struggling with OCD and anxiety and she had weekly sessions with Themis. I genuinely believe this changed her life! She couldn’t even go into a shop to buy something when we started the sessions and now she is in her 3rd year of uni and living in a different city! She has all the tools in her belt to deal with her daily struggles and it’s amazing to see! She doesn’t feel the need to have sessions anymore however, I still have sessions with Themis for myself. Mainly to help me support her and the rest of my family and help keep my anxiety under control. I wouldn’t be able to keep my whole family in check and my sanity if it wasn’t for Themis and I look forward to our sessions! Sometimes it’s feels like I’m just venting to a friend and other times I feel like she’s piecing me back together again! Highly recommend Oakdale! It’s always daunting to start the process and take that first step but dont worry they will put you at ease immediately and you won’t regret it

We had such a positive experience with Oakdale throughout our son’s ADHD assessment. The whole process was really well organised and efficient, but at the same time never felt rushed or impersonal.

Everyone we dealt with was friendly, approachable and professional. All of the meetings with us were really well managed and we always felt listened to. There was plenty of opportunity to ask questions or add anything we felt was important, and we never once felt like anything was too much trouble.

We were especially impressed with the way they interacted with our son. They put him at ease very quickly and he genuinely seemed to enjoy the meeting, which made the whole experience so much easier for us.

The assessment itself felt very thorough and, once it was complete, we had a call followed by a detailed report. Again, there was plenty of time to ask questions and nothing felt hurried.

From beginning to end, we felt that we were in very capable and caring hands. It was a professional and thorough process, but also a very human one.
