No policy !

Don't use!
I had somebody hit back ofbrand new transporter van £22000 worth !
Rang octagon who I was insured with to be told I had no policy!
Was told that there under writers had stopped insuring all vans in U.K., and I should have had a letter!
No letter ever received, and anyway they should have tried harder, phone, email etc to advise.
My 6 yr old in van most days.
Bloody crap
Do not use.

If I could give them a zero rating I would.
Accident happened in June 2017, third party ran in back of me. Light damage to my car,and same to tp car.
Received renewal, price hike of over £700. Lapsed my policy, was told accident non fault on my behalf. Renewed insurance got a good deal, received ncd should of received 12 years this year and octagon states 9 years.
Accident showing still as pending and they have updated database as they paid out tp and assuming they put at fault on my claim. Ncd states accident and that tp drove into rear. Now insurance has shot up over 600 quid. Starting case against them to FSC and Ombudsman.
Totally incompetent individuals!
Steer well clear!!

Octagon insurance are shocking biggest mistake going with them, please pay the extra for a decent insurance company cause these are the worst ever ... Fuming isn't the word .
Don't care bout you or the effect it's gonna have Ok to take it money tho but wen it comes to them helping u out with a claim they dont give a crap .W**KERS ..STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY .....

Nightmare

Utter complete shambles of a company.Settles claim despite not accepting liability and then has the cheek and audacity to tell me they call the shots what do we pay insurance for then ? The customer services are terrible and you would get more sense from a zombie, Expect a long wait in excess of half an hour on the phone waiting to get an answer The saying is true you get what you pay for, cheap certainly cheerful not at all avoid at all costs

Utter crap

I was with them for three years then they tripled my car insurance wiped out my no claims even though I made no claims. when I did look around took less than 2 minutes to get 30 cheaper quotes use them for one year then get out

Just avoid them

Just avoid them, they will take money out your account even after emailing confirmation of your cancellation. Thieves and useless customer service.

Do not Trust this company at all

I've been with them for few years but this year price hike is massive and on one occasion where I had an no fault accident they report it as my fault and now time to cancel I could not get them on the phone. When I had a accident it took more than two weeks to get me a hire car and after the car got repaired they want to collect money from me and I refuse to pay single penny. Think before you insure with this company.

Massive hike in premium but made it difficult to cancel the policy

Policy went from £374 one year to £1001 the following year for no reason, so I tried cancelling and it took about 20 minutes on the phone to finally get to speak to someone.
A lot of insurance companies hike premiums at the end of the first year possibly in the hope people will just pay. I always phone to cancel and get a new quote, what is annoying with this company though is they made it difficult to cancel and I couldn't find anyway possible to do it online as they suggested in their answerphone message

They are fraud company and not an instance company. All they do is collect money from client and run away from responsibility when an issue arises. Someone hits my car and accepted responsibility. I reported to Octagon and also told them to secure the CCTV camera where it happened for evidence. Octagon did nothing. I rang them about 2 weeks later and they said still waiting for the 3rd party, that I should go get the evidence myself from d CCTV where it happened. After 3 months now, rang them again and they said case has been closed as split liability. No communication, no update, nothing. They just messed up my policy and never did anything. I will report them to the authority.

Absolutely abysmal company

Absolutely abysmal company. My claim dragged on for 3 months because they lost my v5 logbook and mot when i sent it to them and tried to blame me for their mistake. Do not use if you want anything like a decent service from an insurer.

Absolute joke not an insurance company

Absolute joke not an insurance company. Had an accident in march until june they could not sort my car out. Above that the company they trusted to repair was beyond joke itself sutton car repairs took them 3 months and 3 attempts to return the car just to fix the bumper and headlights. Moreover the garage trusted with repairs not only failed to repair it on numerous times but also broke other parts that were not involved in the accident and tried to say the car came to them in such condition. Took me months of pointless arguments between the garage and insurer to sort the car out. If that wasnt enough they tried to refuse my courtesy car and take it back before the repairs were conducted and they can not record the information of the accident straight away... i am still over 3 months post the accident receiving the calls about the details of accident. Would recommend to nobody.

Utter joke to be fair

Utter joke to be fair. Took them 6 weeks to accept my no claims despite numerous emails and calls. Took them best part of the policy to see me my actual policy and then when it came to renewal had no contact from until 3 days before insurance being due to find they wanted to increase my policy by nearly 500 pounds. Think I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

Pay more with other insurers than deal with Octagon.

Never do we complain much, nor have we ever dealt with the most utter unprofessional insurers ever. We have dealt with other insurers for the past 30years, with many vehicles and policies in our household and company.

Stay away, and I would say I would rather pay more to other insurance companies than Octagon.

These guys are not understanding at all and can cancel your policy during half way though your policy.

Plus, when it comes to telephone for help, you might as well give up, otherwise you will waste your time and money waiting for at least 45minutes.

They are not reliable and I deal with the public service from day to day, Octagon are a joke.

Me and my partner have been customers …

Me and my partner have been customers of octagon motor insurance for five years now and all of a sudden we have received a letter telling us as from the 1st of January they will not be renewing or taking on new policies. it is now the 22nd may not giving us much notice to come up with the funds for deposit on a new insurer. People may not be aware that octagon will be ceasing trading so if you are reading this and you are an existing customer please start shopping elsewhere. Hopefully the company will lose enough revenue that they will think twice about treating there customers this way. please also be aware they have a sister company one quote direct i wouldn't want anyone to jump from one sinking ship to another

Company is a complete shambles, a complete waste of time. AVOID!!!
I've been a customer for a few years. I contact them for help and get told screw u basically. Manager said i'm the one who decides even if I wanted to help I cant, seriously?
you have said u wont help me and now you said even if I wanted to I can't. so what is it?? you pick and choose who to help?
The letters they send, say one thing only to be told something else.

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!

My car was involver in an accident (I wasn't the driver). The driver covered all the cost for the accident with the other part.

As result of the accident my car was took by the police to their garage and by law I had to inform the insurance company.

They sent emails and letters as I was a criminal.

They never care about to protect me as a customer and they finally sent a letter saying they do not gonna renew the policy!!!

What kind of service I've paid for??

Had to renew my insurance more than what was I were expected to be paying.phoned them to see if they whould match a price I got. Told them the price and bluntly got told they couldn't get no where near that price? no thanks for my 3 years being a customer and the rude guy on the phone said so you don't want to renew then. To which I said who whould want to pay £400 pound a year extra for car insurance. He's reply OK it's a no then,correct sherlock. What a joke of a company which need lessons or more compantant staff to deal with customers............ Avoid this company at all cost or it will cost you more in your pocket.....

Bunch of incompetent imbeciles

This is the worst insurance company ever, steer away for your own good. I had an incident with another driver who tried to fraudely claim whiplash against me, I did not even touch the vehicle. They sent an inspector out to look at the so-called damaged and he suggested that this is a definitely a fraudulent claim since there wasn't even evident of paint transfer to say the least. Anyway, I continued with my policy as normal and come to renewal time, they refuse to give my 6 years no claims (which were PROTECTED), I ask why and they say there's been a claim against you for which we paid out £4200 whiplash and £200 vehicle damage!!!! They did not even inform me of this throughout the entire duration of the policy, I had to find out on my renewal date on the statement of fact document! Apparently the legal costs to take this to court outweighed just paying the fraudster the money they demanded! They ignored the fact that I had a witness in the car who could have sworn in court against this made up claim!!! Worst insurance company ever please stay away otherwise you will genuinely regret it
