Tear down tool purchase
The tear down tool is a modified can opener so it makes sense the cost will be higher than a standard can opener. This modification is not mentioned in the manual though. I do recommend buying this tool from Oktober as it works well for tearing cans down.

Hello,
We manually machine off the bottom catch of every can opener to get it to work with aluminum cans, and you should see the markings underneath the cutting wheel of the opener.
The nippers are indeed standard cutting pliers, and are pictured and advertised as such.
We will be happy to take the items back if you would prefer to get elsewhere and modify the can opener yourself.

Had a question about our MK19.2 can seamer and customer service answered immediately. They confirmed my suspicion that the problem was a missing wave spring (pretty sure our people lost it while cleaning). Part came 2 days later and we were back in business.

We have had our canner in use for over 6 years now with little maintenance, except replacing mandril and bearing once in a while. Keep it clean, keep it lubed, it will last. Ease of support for parts is outstanding.

Out of the box the Oktober can seamer was simple to set up. The directions were clear and within five minutes of unboxing it, we started canning and wound up packaging four cases of 16oz cans.
