We have had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience with Olanka Travel. The company appears responsive and helpful only up until payment is made—after that point, the service becomes completely unprofessional and unreliable.
We initially opted to change our travel plans and were issued a voucher, which we were told could be used toward a new booking. However, when it came time to actually use the voucher, the quoted price inexplicably skyrocketed. In an attempt to make it work, we agreed to remove several activities and two nights of accommodation. Despite these substantial changes, the overall price dropped by only around $300—an amount that clearly does not reflect the value of what was removed. This strongly suggests that Olanka Travel is deliberately inflating prices to extract as much money as possible from customers.
Additionally, we were suddenly informed that only one voucher could be used toward the booking—information that had never been disclosed to us previously. We have now requested a copy of this alleged "policy" twice via email, and have yet to receive any evidence of its existence. This lack of transparency leads us to believe that the policy either does not exist or is being invented as a way to avoid honoring the full value of what we are owed.
After comparing prices externally, we discovered that Olanka Travel was inflating the total trip cost by the amount of the voucher, only to then "deduct" that same amount—essentially nullifying the voucher’s value while falsely appearing to apply it. This is deceptive and unethical.
We are in the process of filing a formal complaint with the Consumer Affairs Authority, as these practices are not only misleading but potentially illegal. We strongly urge anyone considering Olanka Travel to avoid them entirely, as their dishonest tactics will likely end up costing you far more than expected.

We just recently planned a trip with Olanka who were so accommodating & very patient with all my changes . The meals , accommodation, tours & driver were exceptional . I would highly recommend this company for a well planned trip . 10 out of 10 !!

Trip to Sri lanka
My husband, daughter and I visited Sri Lanka for the first time in August 2025 and we chose Olanka Travels to plan our holiday. It turned out to be a truly wonderful experience.
Our travel agent, Chamathsara, did an outstanding job. Thanks to her, we were able to visit many beautiful places, immerse in the rich culture, explore historic sites and enjoy the amazing food. She went the extra mile for us, always checking in and making sure everything was going smoothly during our stay. She has now become a dear friend to us.
Our driver, Samitha was also very easygoing, drove carefully and made sure we discovered some truly memorable places along the way.
We are very grateful for the warm hospitality and excellent service, and we would wholeheartedly recommend Olanka Travels to anyone planning a holiday in Sri Lanka.

We decided on spending our honeymoon travelling around Sri Lanka with Olanka Travel. This travel has exceeded our expectations to say the least. And all that thanks to Thushara - our driver and tour guide, who became a dear friend. To this day when someone asks us what was the best in our Sri Lanka trip, without a hesitation we repeatedly answer - THUSHARA! :) We were a bit afraid of booking the trip in advance from Europe, but we can assure everyone that there is nothing to be afraid of. We were taken care of greatly, we were always comfortable and Thushara was always one step ahead predicting our needs and facilitating them. We saw incredible views, we immersed ourselves into the culture and definitely fell in love with Sri Lanka. We need to be back one day and there is no one else other than Thushara who we would like to explore this beautiful country with. Thank you so much!

It was a 12 day trip in Sri Lanka for me and my husband with private guided tour. I found them online and it is a trustworthy agency. Anjali the girl from the agency replied to all our needs before and during our stay. The tour was well organized, the hotels were nice as well as the itinerary. Our Guide Thushara was amazing from the beginning till the end. He knows very well the country and the culture and he explained everything in detail. He is the best guide that we ever had and he made our trip so special. Definitely ask for him if you book a tour and you won’t regret it . Thank you so much Thushara for everything!

We’ve just returned from an unforgettable 18-day journey across the beautiful island of Sri Lanka, and it was nothing short of extraordinary—thanks entirely to the incredible team at Olanka Travels.

From the very beginning, Shanika was a dream to work with. She was responsive, professional, and wonderfully attentive to our needs. Organizing a trip for a group of six can be complicated, but Shanika made it feel effortless. Absolutely not 1) They scammed me by promising something & reality was completely 2) it takes you 100 call to get 1 answer during critical situation (3)I had to drag and carry my luggage in the middle of nowhere & lost 6 hours of my day when their driver hit a pedestrian with no acknowledgement or compensation from them. If you have already registered with them, make sure you don't complete payment until you return as they are not trustworthy. it was truly a very disappointing experience with them

Do the payment was risky but it’s not happen like that. Rashmi was there to made selection of places and hotels and through the journey following up for the facilities and options. Recommend from my side.

Our experience with Olanka travels was good but we did have a few hiccups.
We were given the wrong number of the driver, and couldn't contact anyone when we landed which caused oanic.Some of the rooms which were given to us were also not of the best quality.
But want to mention that Divyanjalee was very helpful and always available for taking questions and helping us.
Special mention of our driver Lakhmal who was very good and he drove us around and showed us srilanka.

It was a great vacation. Everything was organised brilliantly. Hotels were very clean and hygiene. Driver Douglas was extremely polite. English spoken. Excellent driver and very focused and smooth in driving. Very ethical in nature

2 week trip. Our guide Saliya was outstanding. He is a great driver, very much fun to be with, and very knowledgeable. The major drawback for us was the location of several of the hotels that were far outside the cities/towns, so we were unable to walk about after a touring day or to find alternative places to eat. The train ride was disappointing despite the views along the way. The train is dirty with windows you could barely look out of. This was 1st class and I can't imagine what 2nd or 3rd was like. Overall great vacation but now I know better what to ask for when setting up tour. Olanka itself is a first class organization

While deciding on our honeymoon destination, we knew we didn’t want to spend the whole time sunbathing at boring beaches, but we also didn’t want to tire ourselves out with overwhelming hikes. We wanted a little bit of everything, and that’s exactly what we got! We ventured through the jungle in multiple safaris, climbed tall and beautiful mountains, sunbathed at jaw-dropping beaches, got to experience a different culture and taste the delicious local food. However, we were also offered something we never expected: a new friend. What initially was falsely advertised as a “private driver” turned out to be one of the kindest, most knowledgeable and enthusiastic people we’ve ever met. Thushara, who we thought would be our chauffeur, ended up being so much more! For starters, he’s a living encyclopedia. He knows every single detail about everything in Sri Lanka. On top of that, he always attended to our every need, even if it required some creative improvisation. If all that weren’t enough, he was also constantly looking out for us. Between his connections, his kindness and his forward-thinking, no obstacle got in our way.
We definitely recommend this experience, especially our guide Thushara, who we hope to see again soon.
