Furnished room not provided as agreed full experience update

I initially left a positive review on the day I moved in at the agent’s request. Unfortunately, that review did not reflect the full experience…

Although my tenancy agreement states that a bed and essential furniture would be provided, I was left sleeping on the floor with a mattress for almost 2.5 months. During this time, I repeatedly contacted the agent and landlord, often receiving delayed or no responses.

The bed was only delivered very recently, after months of chasing. Even then, no arrangement was made for assembly, and I was effectively expected to deal with this myself despite the property being let as furnished.

This review reflects the overall experience, not just the first day. Future tenants should ensure that everything promised in the contract is actually provided and not taken on trust.

First and foremost I will like to apologise for your experience with us, as this is not a reflection of the standard practice we uphold to ensure tenants have the smoothest and easiest transition from when they first view the property to key collection.

In this particular instance, we made yourself aware that, although we would do our upmost best to facilitate the arrangement of furnishings agreed upon, ultimately the landlord managed this property and thus, all arrangements for furnishings not provided was to be dealt with through the appropriate channel.

We know how challenging it can be to rent, for that reason, we made multiple attempts to reach out to the landlord in order to progress this issue in a timely manner. They had personal issues at the time, which we also made you aware of, hence the delay.

This does not excuse nor make your experience acceptable and once again will like to extend our deepest apologies for the situation you found yourself in.

I’m glad although you didn’t have the best experience, in the end the matter was resolved.

Taking stuff from needy to furnish these apartments

Their agents are in "free stuff" groups in London asking for free furniture to furnish these homes. Taking from the poorest people in need, furnishing the apartments and then renting wildly expensive. Go check groups like "free stuff in London" on Facebook. Disgraceful.

Hi Iva,
Whilst I can understand your sentiments, could you please elaborate on whether you dealt directly with an agent who was done this with yourself?

As unethical as this may seem to yourself, if this is case, we aren’t exactly ‘taking’ from poor people, it’s an assumption on your part that these people are poor in the first place.

If individuals decide to part ways with their belongings for whatever reason this may be then I’m not sure as to the raise of this issue.

We have many landlord whom, may not be able to afford to furnish their property for a multitude of reason whether this may be something simple as a bed side table.

Helping landlords do so in an economical manner is not something to be frowned upon.

In addition to this, some of the properties being furnished are for those who are on housing benefits, who likewise are not in a position to furnish themselves unfortunately.

It’s disheartening to read this comment knowing we are helping both landlords and tenants in the journey of renting and finding a new home.

Especially when you potentially have had no direct dealings with ourselves based purely on a speculative Facebook post.

Professional and very approachable

Professional and very approachable! They are clearly a breath of a fresh air among the typical high street estate agent who are just trying to get a commission and nothing in return. Both Alex and Mewen are constantly working hard to provide a great service for both Landlord and the tenants.very pleased with my decision to go with them and highly recommend them.

Genuinely the best agents in town

My name is Shail, and I’m a 24 year old marketing professional in the UK. I’m writing this in-depth review as a public thank you to Alex from OneiroWade, who’s been the most helpful person, and agent in my recent successful house hunt. TLDR: I’ve had the best renting experience of all my time lived in the UK with these guys.

I’ve been in the UK for the past 2.5 years, and have rented 3 times by now - a student accommodation, a shared room from spare room, and a rented house with my friends. So far (and I’m sure you can relate to this), it’s been a dreadful process to find a place, then go through the referencing, and then deal with the agents and landlords. Meeting all the referencing criteria, then putting down a holding deposit, and even then, being so uncertain whether you will actually get the place or not. Recently, I needed to find a 2 bedroom house for 3 people (Me, and my 2 friends).

Everyday after work, I searched for countless hours, put down multiple holding deposits, and waited for days, with no updates from the agents or landlord.

This went on for weeks, and I began to feel like I’ll never find a place, and will have to go back to Spareroom to find a make-do room in a dingy area, and adjust (same as the 2nd time I rented a house in London). Agents would literally ghost me after viewings, responding, at max once in 3 days to my long string of Whatsapp messages. One week closer to my final move out date, I had a viewing at a house in Poplar, where I met Alex, and his colleague for the first time. They showed me the place, drove me around the neighbourhood, and answered all my questions thoroughly (honestly some of the sweetest humans I’ve met in my 2 years in London).

When I told them how desperate I was to land a place, they reassured me, and told me that they would do their best to get me the house.

They also said that they would speak to the Landlord about adding extra furniture to the place, and make sure that any requests I have for the property would be met in time. This in itself was a big relief. Now, the place wasn’t going to be ready for a while, and the Landlord only wanted to give it out a week after my preferred move-in date. I was really desperate to get the house and asked Alex to speak with the landlord to see if he could speed things up. Alex told me that he would figure it out, and that he would make sure that I would not go homeless. I put down my holding deposit, and took a leap of faith, with only 6 days to go before being homeless.

Alex kept pushing the landlord for my requests, and for the house to get ready ASAP. When the referencing began, Alex made sure that no other tenancy requests went to the landlord, and that he only had my application. I was in panic mode for 3 days as the referencing went on, and faced multiple challenges while getting all of that sorted. Alex was available, literally anytime I called him, to reassure me, and to speak with me about the progress of my application. Till date, I’ve never met agents that take such good care of their tenants. I can guarantee that I was being too annoying at certain points, asking for updates every 3 hours, but Alex was extremely patient with me. He even picked up my calls when he was out shopping, or it was 9 PM in the night on a Sunday.

Alex worked really hard to get my documents through, getting the landlord to sign the documents on time, and getting all my requests sorted on time. I have now moved into the house that was my #1 choice, 1 day BEFORE my desired move-in data, in what was already a very tight timeline, and only have Oneirowade to thank for this. Genuinely the smartest, and more importantly, empathetic agents out there! Now, even after I’ve moved in, Alex checked in twice to ask if we require anything else, and personally checked up with the landlord to make sure we were settled in. This is a whole other level of ‘taking care of your customers’, and I am extremely thankful to the two of you!

This is the second time we’ve worked with this company, and we’re confident we’ll return again. Their outstanding service and support have truly impressed us.
