We had Optama install a heat pump, radiators, solar panels and room in roof insulation as part of the ECO4 scheme. Optama were efficient and easy to deal with and everyone they sent up was professional and friendly. I can’t fault the work they did. We live in a large, old house about two hours northwest of Inverness so the installation wasn’t straightforward. But Optama dealt with everything that came up as well as I could have hoped. I’d highly recommend them.

The guys at Optama were friendly and helpful… easy to contact and very knowledgeable. They were highly efficient from the application through to completion. I’m delighted with Optama!
My partner approached me about this scheme Feb 2023, we didn’t have any gas, we live in a rural area and have a small child.
We live in an older house which was costing us around £250 - £300 per month to keep warm… well only parts of the house.
We also bought monthly gas for a heater we’d used for the kitchen. Overall, we loved our house but it was very hard come winter. And costing a lot of money!
When optama came and told us what they could do… I couldn’t believe it. I was very sceptical as well these things don’t normally work out for hard working
individuals like us - right?!
We’ve now had our heat pump for nearly 2 years, and I couldn’t be happier.
1) our whole house is warm and we put the heating on a lot!
2) our monthly bill is now around £140 (if we average it out)
3) we’ve got nice looking radiators that work and even dry our clothes!
(You can’t put clothes on electric radiators) so this was a massive benefit.
I’ve read a lot of reviews about heat pumps not doing what they say, but I couldn’t disagree anymore! It’s done exactly what it’s meant to do and saves us a lot of money.
It’s not only saved us a lot of money but it’s provided us a better quality of life as there nothing worse than being cold - especially in Scotland over winter.
We’ve had once issue with our pump which actually wasn’t an issue. Optama came out the same day and fixed it.

Heating, Insulation and Solar install
Optama intalled new heating, insulation and solar, the office team were helpful, friendly and kept me up to date throughout the whole process and responded quickly to any questions. The install teams were clean and quick, with the works completed in a couple of days. Very efficient, fast and easy from start to finish.
Great service
Great service , was fast and reliable, all workmen were professional and explained everything well to me . Heating works amazing and the solar panels look great . Got this granted by the government funding and I’m very grateful for it, thanks optama
5 Start Performance from all Aspects
I was most impressed with their professionalism and project management. All of the work agreed happened on time and up to the highest standards. I was apprehensive they could deliver but they did on all fronts. I can highly recommend from my experience.

Re: hybrid air-source heat pump. Steven Canning, Director of Optama, is highly knowledgeable and provided informed advice throughout. Staff at Optama did not try to hard-sell, or to mislead about potential energy bill savings. Steven made every effort to accommodate our wishes about location of the pump and explored with the manufacturers what was feasible. When EST introduced additional grant clarifications, Steven and his team worked to ensure our proposed system was compatible before proceeding. Jonathan Gallacher, Renewables Co-Ordinator, was efficient and helpful in supervising the works. He had post-installation snags dealt with efficiently and liaised with Worcester-Bosch to sort out issues with the unit programme. The Optama on-site engineer (John), was hard working and considerate and did an amazing job scrambling beneath our floor boards to install the pipework.
We found Optama an effective organisation, with knowledgeable, helpful staff that provide sound and honest advice.
Customer service failure

Sadly, this is not proving to be the case. I had a full heat pump and solar panel system installed in Jan/Feb this year. The installation was trouble free and I gave a 5 star review saying so. Alas, the Nest thermostat/controller has now failed and Optama's response is rather weak. They report they cannot get an engineer to me until 20 Dec - 2 weeks from today.
It appears this is another company long on customer care claims but short on delivery when tested.

A whole team working great together
A whole team working great together. We were impressed from the initial consultation to the final dismantling of the scaffolding a couple of days after our solar panels were fitted. Optama's efficiency and customer care, communication and after service heartily recommended. And at an excellent cost as well.

Empty promises…
Optama are full of promises they can't deliver. While they were speedy in the process of Installing the heat pump everything else has been shocking. The customer service I have recieved since has been a joke. The heat pump was installed in June and I am still waiting on them sorting issues. There is no communication and I have to chase them for answers. Times I have sat in the house for an appointment and no one turns up finally get someone on the phone to be told "oh they were off sick or went home'. I wish I had went with a different company from the beginning!

The whole experience was seamless from start to finish and I can wholeheartedly recommend this company. The workmen which dealt with each section were friendly yet professional and very experienced taking time to explain exactly what they were doing and did not leave until they were sure we were satisfied with what had been done. The one hiccup we had was dealt with timeously. Excellent service from knowledgeable professionals.

ECO4 Installation - Great Experience
We never knew that we'd qualify for the ECO4 funding - we're tenants and have used expensive LPG for years in our little cottage.
Everyone we've dealt with at Optama - initial visit, site survey, Insulations, ASHP installation, Solar team, and the folk in the office - have been friendly, helpful and efficient.
It's early days to see how much more efficient the new system is, but the house is lovely and warm with the new radiators.

Superb service all-round
Optama have been incredibly responsive and kept us informed at every step; the workmen - very friendly and efficient - worked incredibly hard to get through so much work done, to a very high standard, in a ridiculously short time. Admin/Office staff have kept us informed and dealt with any questions we've had quickly and effectively. We're completely happy with everything that's been done for us and highly recommend Optama.

Optama's ECO4 performance
I first contacted Optama to take advantage of the ECO4 scheme for non-gas users and from the outset, the firm was both proactive and responsive as well as understanding that I am over 70, have health issues (asthma and lung disease) and a limited income.
The workmen (different teams handled insulation, plastering, electric storage heater installation, the solar panel install and all associated wiring) all arrived as promised, were professional, friendly and polite and very importantly for me, cleaned up thoroughly after their work was completed.
The workmen answered my questions and advised me on issues concerning the new storage heaters and how to make best use of the solar panels (eg, using my dishwasher and washing machine during warm daylight periods).
My calls to Optama head office were answered promptly and/or returned quickly. At no time did I feel less than a valued customer.
The removal of heavy and bulky old equipment (20-year-old storage heaters) and the new insulation waste similarly was smooth and organised within a day or two after work was completed. The waste removal included brushing my driveway to ensure everything was left clean.
Overall, my experience was excellent and I would recommend the Optama team to anyone.

A very negative experience with Optama
It has been over a year since I signed the contract for a heat pump and solar from Optama. Their customer service is terrible. I have spoken to several different people over the last several months, every conversation begins with an apology about why there is an issue this time, normally someone has moved on. Here’s a summary of issues other than their poor customer service:
1 - I have not received an itemised invoice for the solar installation so can’t claim for HES for the money. I’ve called and emailed over 10 times requesting this and, although promised, only receive a payment schedule so can not claim my grant.
2- The sales team sold me a hybrid heat pump but after the tech Survey, the technician said he’d run numbers to see if hybrid or standard ASHP would be best. When I eventually got an installation date there was no info about whether it was to be hybrid even though I asked countless times.
3- I had to push for an installation date for the heat pump as once they had my deposit they didn’t seem interested in actually fitting it. I rearranged my holiday around the date they gave me and at 15:41 the day before installation, they cancelled claiming the fitters had a bereavement and they actually realised they needed to fit a bigger heat pump. They clearly had not planned this properly and are now talking about having to give me a form to send to the funders as there will need to be some cost ‘offsetting’.
Optama is the worst company I’ve ever had to deal with and if the money I’ve paid them wasn’t linked via grants and loans through HES I would have had my money back a while ago.
I would advise against using this company.

Overall Optama did a very good job…
Overall Optama did a very good job fitting Air Heat Source and Solar panels. We did have the odd set back however any problems we sorted quickly and efficiently. Many thanks I will be asking you to service the Air Heat Source when the time is right.

We had a great experience with Optama. They arrived when they said they would and worked the whole day and finished when stated. The house was left as they found it and they consulted with us at every stage if any adjustment were required. We were also given an in depth demonstration om how to operate new system although we will need to practice. We would recommend this Company.
