Orion Holidays Avis 

Fantastic service from a wonderful company. We booked a break in a privately owned property which was managed by Orion Holidays.

I was a bit dubious as this is a company I had not heard of before, but they were an extremely professional company with great communication.

I would not hesitate to use them again or recommend them to friends and family.

We first came across Orion Holidays when we purchased our Cotswolds holiday home, and they were the selling agent. We found them very professional to deal with, and they kept us fully updated during the buying process.
We were that impressed by their personal service that we asked them to manage our property for us. As well as marketing our property they also arrange any repairs that are needed and offer a complete management service.
We have never had a single problem with anything they have arranged, and the tradesman they use if anything needs to be done are equally as helpful and efficient.
The positive reviews we get from guests confirm they are equally looked after by the team of staff at Orion holidays- the fact their office is literally across the road from the lake our holiday home is based on just adds to personal service they offer.

I booked a UK break via Airbnb. The booking was accepted and payment taken from my credit card.

Soon after making the booking, I received a message from the host – Orion Holidays, asking me for the full names and ages of the people who will be staying in the house, which I provided.

I then received another message asking me for my personal email address. I asked why they need this (as we should communicate via Airbnb) and they said it was necessary to confirm the booking. So I provided it to them.

I then received another message asking me for my home address. I rang the host (Orion Holidays is a travel agency) who told me they needed my home address 'for security'. I said I was not happy providing this because it is a security risk, given that my home will be unoccupied when I am at the host's property. When I explained I was uncomfortable providing this information, the person I was speaking to became quite aggressive saying that they were an honest company and I shouldn't be asking why they need the information. And if I don't provide them with my home address, they will cancel the booking - even though I had already paid the deposit.

I then contacted Airbnb who told me the host cannot request such information. They then called the hoist (Orion Holidays) who cancelled the booking saying they are unwilling to accept it without my full personal details.

Given the company was unwilling to explain why they are harvesting all of this personal information; I remain concerned about why they were so insistent on refusing to follow the Airbnb rules and were insistent on having so much personal information.

This is being escalated within Airbnb who have assured me this is being taken seriously.
