I waited a month for an item to be…
I waited a month for an item to be delivered so I cancelled the order and asked for a refund. Still waiting for refund after 2 weeks. Total scam.

You try and support local business and its disappointing when they give crap service, especially in 2026 when buying on line should be easy, quick and hastle free. Listen to my review and all the other bad experiences posted on line.
Delivery time was 7 weeks
Love the price and products ….but the order took 7 weeks to arrive. During this time I was beginning to think I had been scammed because you cannot phone them and email responses (both of which assured me the product coming soon) took 7 days. Sorry but I could have got something through Amazon in days not months.

Like most Outdoor industry retailers and sellers, Outback Equipment acts as agents and sellers of branded products from industry leading Australian and International outdoor industry companies. There are many brands and products that are core to this industry.
Around Easter 2026, I ordered from OE a branded product, marketed by an industry leading company, for my caravan.
Upon receipt I discovered an issue with the product. I contacted OE with the expectation that I would be either (A) redirected to the industry leading company as is commonplace under the guise of “manufacturer’s warranty”, or (B) being made to wait for weeks while OE assessed the issue -also a commonplace industry approach - which would have potentially left me holding a unusable item while being out of pocket for hundreds of dollars for a protracted period or (C) having to justify my issue as this product has been on the market for years with hundreds sold without an issue.
To my pleasurable surprise, within a few days a senior OE manager - not some nameless admin minion- contacted me. Straight-up my issue was acknowledged and a full refund offered. The email also included a link for the product to be returned at OE’s expense. Based on this I offered-up that I would accept an exchange with suitable product from another brand. This was agreed and, as the other brand product was more expensive having additional features that, in fairness, I would pay the difference.
I was once again surprised when the replacement product arrived at no additional cost. A few days later Aidan, a Customer Service Officer made contact to check that all was okay and I was happy.
This was a perfect case of how to turn around a pissed-off customer. I will have no hesitation in ordering from OE again and again. 10/10 for Customer Service 10/10 for Professionalism. There are a lot of shady big box retailers and on-line sellers out there who happily take your money and leave you stranded when anything goes askew. I can tell you first-hand that Outback Equipment are 100% honest and reputable.

Ordered Australian “in stock” items from their site. Advised dispatch + 1-6 business day.
Currently at 15 business days with absolutely zero updates. No confirmation of picking, dispatch or delivery. Not even an email to say that something is delayed. My order has gone to a black hole.
I have written to them 3 times over a week with no responses. The auto email reply indicated a 3 day response. Nothing yet.
This company has does not have their business in order.
I am lodging a complaint with Office of Fair Trading as I cannot work out how to get my money back if they are uncontactable.

Poor customer service
I ordered a water tank and 12V pump, but unfortunately hit financial trouble at exactly the wrong time.
Before I had even received the items, I contacted Outback Equipment to explain the situation. I made it clear that I would return everything untouched and unopened as soon as it arrived, and politely asked whether a refund could be arranged.
The response was simply to repeat the change-of-mind policy and advise that I could only receive store credit. While I understand businesses need policies, this was not a case of someone casually changing their mind after using a product. I had not received or opened the items, and I was upfront about my situation before delivery.
What disappointed me most was the complete lack of discretion or empathy. Store credit did nothing to help in the circumstances, and the outcome felt unnecessarily rigid for a customer who was trying to do the right thing.
A little compassion would have gone a long way.
Excellent warranty process
My warranty claim was processed well which is rare these days.
Dakota went out of her way to ensure the process was moving forward. Thank you very much Dakota.
I will be back to buy more things from Outback Equipment!

Great support from Steph, Amy and Dakota! I’ve made a few purchases, they arrived safely, in good order and in good time. On the one occasion the product was late and not in good order, I reached out to the team. They managed the warranty claim with the supplier and they resolved it quickly, without fuss and with excellent communication. It’s good to know they value my purchase and experience as much as I do! And I love to support Aussie-owned businesses and to see them doing well - Bravo!

Always a pleasure to deal with my most recent interaction was what I thought was a warranty claim on a Topargee Water Tank Gauge Flush Mount there response was fast and informative.
Turns out I had not crimped the lug properly after a bit of back and forth the issue was sorted.
I have bought a lot of gear from Outback Equipment over the years and it has always been great quality at fair prices I would highly recommend them to anybody looking for gear and most importantly there aftersales service is second to none.
And a special shout out to Dakota your a legend and they should be paying you more

No stock as advertised
Advertising equipment that they do not have in stock.
They have to find the stock and then they will send out.
As of 13 April the contact phone number has been disabled so you cannot talk to any one direct.
Buyer be aware!

If I could give zero star I would, no customer service, unable to contact via phone and they don’t reply to emails.
Placed an order and never received, currently trying to get a refund after multiple unsuccessful attempts to contact outback equipment

No phone contact available, no email inquiry responses, no indication that items out of stock. Tried calling and emailing, then drove 2.5 hours to pickup item only to be told nil stock. Avoid this shop!

Working with this company has been one of the biggest mistakes I’ve made. They shipped the product—listed as “in stock” on their website—only after 1 month. When I tried to cancel my order, they kept my money and told me they would not refund it.
I hope you stay away from these dodgy people when shopping.

Had a faulty issue with my shower contacted them and within a week of me sending pictures of thr issue they replied and are sending me out another unit. 10/10 service !
