He actually talked me out of the ultra-fine weaves because unless you're a collector putting it on a shelf, they're too delicate for daily wear. He steered me toward Fino Fino as the sweet spot: fine enough to be a serious hat, sturdy enough to travel with.
That tells you everything about how he does business. He'd rather you get the right hat than the most expensive hat.
The quality is excellent—beautiful tight weave, exactly what a Montecristi should be. Communication throughout was great, with status updates and photos as the hat progressed through finishing. I bought my first Panama hat from Panama Hats Direct about 10 years ago and I love the quality and durability. I found your company after reading the book, The Panama Hat Trail, and deciding to get a Panama hat. I told my friends at work and a good customer about your company and they both bought hats from you. We scrutinized them and saw that the quality was amazing! (Both hats are Fino.) My good friend from work saw the hat I was designing online and that I was going to buy in January, so she copied everything down and ordered it for me for Christmas. Yesterday, she gifted me my Optimo Fino and I could not be happier. The quality is top shelf. I am definitely going to order another hat for summer, probably a Sub Fino that I can beat up, but still far better than any hat I can get in a hat shop here in San Diego. Please tell the folks making the hats that they are true artisans and do excellent work.

I had a great experience with Panama Hat and with Casey. I made a mistake and order my husband’s Montecristi Havana hat with a brim of 2.64 inches. My husband is 6.2” and said the hat looked awkward because the brim was too small for his size. I contacted Casey and he offered to help right away and proceeded to order a new hat. The new hat is beautiful and hubby is very excited because he’ll be wearing it in our upcoming cruise. I definitely recommend Panama Hats for any of your hats needs. Customer Service is outstanding.

I have been a satisfied customer for quite a while, now. I currently have three of your hats, and they are superb. Two are Fino Fino in traditional styles, showing museum-quality workmanship. The latest is a Super Fino western/cowboy hat, and also shows excellent workmanship in a unique style. Actually I had a fourth, but I think one of my kids "borrowed" it. I'll be ordering more, for sure.

Ordered my hat for a trip to the South Carolina and Georgia in August. Casey made sure that it was delivered in time for my trip. When the hat arrived it fit perfectly and looked wonderful. The hat was as as promised, delivered when promised. Superb hat, perfect fit. I opted for an unstiffened hat which I love. Earlier I bought a standard hat (stiffened) which was excellent as well.

Today I became the proud owner of a genuine Panama hat. I can say that I am super satisfied with the quality of the hat: fine braid, uniform color, leather sweatband, careful finishing. Also the hat was carefully packaged and arrived at its destination in perfect condition.

just the coolest panama hats available globally! nothing in the UK comes even close, and even the most expensive don't allow you to design your own/set your rim width/etc... this is my third hat and i wouldn't dream of buying one from anyone else (and now my friends won't either!)

I or trustpilot made a mistake and a low star review was left. The previously incorrect review has been removed by me as was not meant for this company. I was contacted by Casey whom has so much pride in the products quality that they contacted me straight away to solve my issue, this was when we discovered that a error had occurred. Even though I have not yet purchased a product from this company I commend them for having excellent customer focus. I would happily buy from this company in future. Casey is incredible - helped patiently answered all of my many questions - this was my first order of a Montecristi hat hence my many questions. Received the hat with the balsa box and it is everything advertised and more. Wow - this is what a straw hat is meant to be and the shipping (paid for expedited service) got to me in 3 days - from Ecuador to Texas. What's not to like.

Casey and Freddy helped to expedite, even more, my shipment due to upcoming travels and my need for the sombrero. Now that I have been appropriately spoiled with the new Montecristi my cart already has another style of Montecristi placed in it and it will be purchased within the week. I’ve been wearing fine hats from United States and Europe for 56 years. I just received your Panama Direct fedora style straw hat for my wife. It’s as good as my Panama straw hat for more than half the price.

Every step of the process has been easy and transparent. I love that I get updates- with pictures!- of the process. The emails replies are also quick, and everyone is super helpful. I've bought two hats from PHD, and the second one is even better than the first!

I was looking for a nice Panama hat and found Panama hats direct , so I called them up and Casey answered, I told him what I was looking for and he told me all about the hats wich was very interesting , much I did not know , I placed my order with him after ower conversation.
