Now had 6 emails telling me my business will expire in x days and I need to renew. To renew suggests I added it in the first place!!!! If you follow the link in the email it just shows lists of businesses about to expire. Total scam.

Highly misleading website. Bordering on fraud by false representation. Have advised the relevant authorities.
A number of issues:-
Website designed with the gov.uk style
Asking to renew a listing that was never requested in the first place
Misleading to businesses that they might consider the website to be your local parish council
Filled out with random irrelevant information

Réponse de PARISH
Looks like a scam, never signed up but sent a “urgent” email my listing was expiring that I never signed up for.
Responses on here are a generic copy and paste. If it’s legit it’s a terrible business model.

Complete scam, and if you want to know who is behind it, it is one of the scammers behind the disgraced ex-company "lendy" who ripped a lot of people off.

Scam business listing designed to look like a .gov website. No telephone number or business address. It's another "scrape" website that relists businesses found on the internet then tries to charge them for a listing they gave no consent for in the first place. We don't need your phoney listing service because you scraped our details from our websites where the public can already find us! What a pointless waste of everybody's time.

Réponse de PARISH
I just wish to echo the words below: Opening the email it looks like a formal Government Authorized Website .. it is not .. so its misleading. Then the claim is that we are "renewing a subscription" which is not a true statement, we have never sent funds or subscribed in the past to this entity in the past. They offer no phone number. and at the bottom of the invoice a disclaimer. All responses on trust pilot have the same boiler plate rebuttal. The website seems to gather information from a verity of sources that are in the public domain.

Réponse de PARISH
I never signed up for this, so, how come it's up for renewal?
Looks official Gov website, but it's not.
Looks like it's part of the Parish Council, but it's not.

Réponse de PARISH
This is a scam. I have never signed up in the past but they are asking us to renew.
I went on the website to see what it offered. Under Find You Parish I entered a postcode know to be in my area and was told the Postcode was incorrect.
DO NOT PAY THEM ANYTHING

TOTAL SCAM!
How can a listing expire if one was never created in the first place?!?!
Claiming to be a 'Community Action Initiative'.... Certainly an innovative way to con people out of money!
May the fleas of a thousand hedgehogs infest your useless orifices

Scam. Scam. Scam.
UPDATE Listen to You and Yours expose of this scam on BBC Sounds. Originally broadcast 3rd May 2023. Expect the site to be closed down soon.
They're onto you Tim Alastair Gordon (formerly of Lendy Ltd)

Just had a text from this company saying that my listing was about to expire on my local village's parish web site.
It's designed to look like Gov.uk and that's clearly what they're trying to do to deceive people. It's not affiliated with my local parish or council at all. Don't be fooled.

Not good. Have tried using the contact email address quoted in response to other reviews below. No reply....

Looks like a scam.
No clear information about advertising charges, claims an existing registration when no prior contact or agreement was made.
This site *may* be legit but they are going the completely wrong way about it.
If you want businesses to add to your revenue stream then treat them with basic courtesy and ensure you don't come across as a scam, whether that was your intention or not
You have managed to fail spectacularly and whomever is responsible for this poor decision making a) should be sacked, and b) needs to account for this utter lack in common sense.

Réponse de PARISH
Clearly trying to look like a gov.uk website. That may not be disallowed by I believe it is done with the intention to deceive you into believing it is official. No "directory" site has any intrinsic value.
Their website does not include a company number which they are legally compelled to if it is a limited company - this makes it hard to track them down.
I suggest you steer WELL CLEAR.

Thank goodness other owners have put a post on here. Thank you.
I am actually only also putting a post as the responses below from the Parish UK are ridiculous.
So is this a scam? The facts.
You have deliberately chosen to withhold information in your communications.
You have deliberately chosen a website (freely available or not) that replicates. gov
You send multiple messages accross a range of mediums, daily.
No one has ever signed up/ provided information/ requested your services.
You ask for money with a degree of urgency and implied pressure.
People will decide for themselves if this constitutes scam style behaviour.

Réponse de PARISH
Despite claims made on here by parish.uk in their response, it IS a scam. Sending out spam invitations to renew an entry that was never initially authorised is designed to con, especially given the blatent attempt to deceive through the template choice giving a government appearance.
Avoid.

Réponse de PARISH
Not sure who has created this site but it's very muddled and has not asked permission to use parish details. Avoid using it and do not pay to advertise your business here!
You have the wrong contact detail for Albury Herts for a start.
You don't know the difference between the different Alburys.
You've listed local businesses who did not ask to be listed and have then emailed them to ask them to pay to renew listings
You have no obvious contact details for yourselves on the site.

Réponse de PARISH
This is an obvious scam playing on business owners understandable wish to get local publicity
Particularly annoying and possibly illegal is the way they try and present their webpage as part of the Government Gateway. Fooled and worried me for about 5 minutes but I nearly clicked the renew button ... don't its a scam
