This is easily the best money I've ever spent on improving my guitar playing skills. Each learning pathway is well structured and helps improve your guitar playing ability day-by-day. I've been recommending it to everyone I know that plays guitar.

I started a trial and enjoyed a course I did over a few days but decided I wouldn’t continue with a subscription but I somehow hadn’t canceled my trial.

Anyway, a year later I noticed all these charges in my bank account I didn’t realise I was accumulating and received no emails about the subscription starting or the monthly charges(apparently I was meant to, which is expected)

I fully expecting to have to wear the fact that I lost a few hundred dollars and after checking that I hadn’t even signed into the program all year, they gave me a full refund. I want to pick up music for restoring my faith in humanity. 🙂

Pickup Music is by far the best platform to learn guitar and music theory more generally I came across. I took over 5 years of classes at a music school, and pickup is by far much more fun, engaging and well structured.

The culture of the team and members is very supportive, positive and refreshing. Sometimes, I just watch the video courses as if I was watching a Netflix series.

I made a significant progress playing guitar in less than a year, thanks to pickup, and I look forward to moving forward on all the other exciting pathways :)

No prices displayed. You have to signup, and then see crazy high yearly subscription price. Feels like scam website after this.

I've been playing guitar since I was a kid and the last few years found myself stuck in a rut, not really knowing how I could advance my playing. There are some really great YouTube videos out there on different learning paths, but I found it difficult to know where to start or how to connect what I'd learned to my playing. I saw ads for PickUp and said I'd give the free trial a go. No exaggeration, I've learned more in a two week free trial than I have in 5+ years of random YouTube rabbit holes. I'm amazed. I'm not sure if it's the same for everyone, but PickUp seemed to have started me on a pathway that exactly matched my level and the lessons presented info in a clear, easy way I wasn't able to find on my own. This review might sound a little overinflated, but honestly, as I said I'm just amazed at how easy it has been to finally start connecting the dots and all it took was a couple of really well-structured videos from these guys. I also like that the videos are broken up into bite-sized lessons that are simple to follow, but not too simple that a fast learner would get bored. I'm going to continue to pay the subscription because I think it's little money for the learnings I'm getting from it. Seriously impressed. Keep up the good work PickUp Team!

Markets itself as a serious music tutorial site but the quality is wildly variable and includes things that are absolutely wrong. I can live with mistakes but when I raised mistakes they tried to gaslight me. Gutted that I paid for a full year upfront as I have zero confidence in the content and won’t be using it again. I’ve been burned so you don’t have to be. Avoid

I’ve tried the free 14 days and I’m happily going to subscribe for a year, I have completed a solid year doing Justin Guitar and following you tube videos with some success but found pick up musics style of teaching suits me more, for me playing along with the band at the end of each section is brilliant and consolidates what you have learned, help with timing etc, I decided to start right at the beginning and straight away realised that I had picked up some bad habits which I have now corrected, really pleased. Some rude people on here seem to think that all that hard work they have put into this should be free, bonkers!

Always fee till you give all your personal info. Oops, now it's almost €140 a year. Marketing bullshit.

I played as a kid, a little, but I put the guitar down for over 30 years. When I was ready to pick it back up, I wasn't sure where to begin. I researched a lot of sites, but I am happy I chose Pickup Music. It has been great!

Course for beginners is very easy to follow and you learn really quick!

Pitched really well for an intermediate. Definitely not beginner and not patronising. Some great technique work blended with music theory and genre introductions.

I would recommend taking this course. I’ve been playing 4 yrs or so. This was fantastic for me.

Pickup music is a fab grounding in the world of guitar - Hands on techniques, musical theory and performance. The format is interesting - For 1 week you approach a theme e.g. a mode a day and then you get a choice of performance pieces - Record one, submit it and get feedback. For questions, you can comment on a lesson if you have something you want to pick on, or you can wait until your performance submission and add a summary of how you did or what you'd like to have specific feedback on.

One of the really great things Pickup music does is offer really great performance pieces - Especially in the intermediate course with some super musical, catchy melodic vibes that really stretch you in terms of playing and then leave a space for you to improvise or compose something so if you really get in to the piece, you can add some theory and performance on and make it your own.

I think the site really suits intermediate players who want to touch on subjects they have not really understood or missed in earlier training or as a supplement to an in-person teacher - Doing some prep work before a lesson on say chords or scales to get some of explanation out there and then they can dive deeper in their actual lesson.

If I had a request of the site - It is really around the above - the teachers are really great presenters and I'd love to try and get a 1-2-1 session as part of the subscription and i think it would be totally worth the premium and complement the week-to-week recorded lessons with an examination of the principle or technique in the 1-2-1.

I'd certainly recommend it for a the annual cost, totally worth it - The performance pieces with Ariana are spellbinding - Really enjoyable just to 'play play' regardless of how much of theory you absorbed!

This app really needs to have a platform for left handed players. With everything else so far so good.

Great resources. I've played guitar for 20 years so this is mostly a refresher but there's some stuff I'm finding that I feel weak in. I have young kids and work full time so I love that the lessons are broken down and are quick to work through. I struggle with what to practice other than just the songs I like so this has given me great structure.

I am in third grade, so I don't have much experience about CAGED. I'm just still studying it.

Such a great program for learning guitar. Especially being self taught for years and just memorizing tabs this has helped me really unlock the guitar and understand it. The lessons are clear with great visuals to accompany the lesson and you can go at whatever pace you like. You can send in videos to be “graded” by teachers and they have guest lessons all the time of new material. I will be a member for life.
