We couldn’t be happier with the pool Polmenna Pools built for our holiday home. From start to finish, Luke and Welly provided exceptional customer service, consistently going above and beyond to ensure everything ran seamlessly. Their hands-on approach to the practicalities of the design process and their sensitivity to our requirements made the entire experience an absolute pleasure. The process was expertly managed—transparent, honest, and delivered on budget, exactly as promised.
Despite some unpredictable weather challenges, the team’s professionalism and dedication ensured the pool was completed right on time.
The finished pool is brilliant and has exceeded all our expectations. The team remained charming, polite, and upbeat throughout—no matter what the day threw at them! Though we did quickly learn to keep plenty of custard creams on hand for their visits!

Polmenna Pools were hired to rectify problems caused by a previous local Company which resulted in a heavily leaking pool & damaged components & infrastructure. This was settled out of court. Both Directors stated that they would easily rectify the issues & were derisory about the previous workmanship. They knew I was desperate to have this work done quickly to minimise any furrther damage. However, they left the job unfinished without giving any notice. This was because Trading Standards & the Police were involved as they were informed , by Age UK (who were concerned ) and Cit Advice (I was advised to approach by the Bank) , due to escalating costs & in particular the treatment I was experiencing, especially as I was recently widowed. I was not given a proper written quote despite requests, no end date was given or schedule of works, was made to pay 100% up front for materials & weekly labour at cost 17% profit plus VAT. There were constant threats that they would pull out if I did not pay within a week & also because of the inappropriate way I was being treated by some Staff towards the end, I kept my distance due to some actions which went beyond the professional boundaries one would expect from a reputable Company. I paid £46,022.45 via bank transfer to the Company, but after they left, I was refunded for the liner. In all £30,521.44 was paid for a re enforced concrete floor, replacement skimmer, sump, some pipework, light niche, two inlets & unnecessary coping stones which are poorly laid with some chipped & scratched but they are functional & a scathing report has been written by an expert. This work took 3 months to do due the very slow pace of work and extended breaks taken. Communication with the Director, who never checked the work (the other Director did) , was by email – mostly from him, some making false accusations & statements, often taken out of context & shifting blame after I queried some items. I found these threatening, bullying, intimidating & belittling. I even hired an Accountant to avoid any financial misunderstandings. One member of staff brought his dog each day & left it in a cage whilst working & I had to dog sit twice for 2 hrs at a time when he left the premises, to calm it as it was in distress. When the other Director was advised of this, that member of staff was aggressive to me but only on that one occasion. A flood in the shower room of the pool was caused by the workmen but arrangements were made by the other Director to rectify. The pool room and outside were left in an atrocious state when they ceased work after interviews with T Standards. When sourcing a new local Company (where the owners had left the original Company who caused the problems in the first place) the Director found out because an hour or so after, he sent me a threatening email stating I had said negative things to them about his Company and himself. Good job I kept a record of this call as no names of Companies or individuals were mentioned – just simply that I needed a new liner. I have had some difficulties in getting other local Contractors to finish their work but fortunately have found one who has just completed the work and has been excellent - he is a SPATA member and therefore has high standards , is qualified and professional. No Pool Companies I have sourced have been told of the problems I have encountered or the name of this Company or the previous one. This scenario has had a negative impact on another non Pool business (which is very concerning) who has an excellent reputation and been very supportive and helpful towards me - this I am told, was instigated by the other Director. I would not wish anyone to go through the same traumatic experience - the worst ever. This is a classic example of a Trader having no respect for the interests of the consumer or property and takes advantage of a vulnerable person All these facts can be verified by photographic & audio records plus Bank statements and emails.

We are deeply sorry to hear you were dissatisfied with your experience. However, we feel it is necessary to address several inaccuracies in your review and provide important context regarding this project.
Polmenna Pools was hired to address issues caused by another contractor’s work, which had resulted in significant challenges and had been settled out of court with you.
Sympathising with your difficulties, we approached the project intent to resolve these issues effectively and economically. From the outset, it was clear that the pool required extensive and complex repairs.
During the course of our work:
We provided detailed timesheets and clear documentation of costs, including material and labour breakdowns. The staff costs, agreed upon at the start of the project, were transparent and even reduced from the original quoted amount as a goodwill gesture.
While we did not provide a fixed end date due to the complex nature of the repairs, we consistently updated you on progress and timelines.
Payment terms, including upfront costs for materials, were agreed upon prior to commencing work, standard for a project of this scope.
You frequently praised the professionalism, skill, and dedication of our team that we appreciated.
Unfortunately, challenges arose impacting the working environment.
Without prior consultation, you contacted both Trading Standards and the police to express concerns about staff costs. These agreed costs had remained unchanged throughout. Trading Standards and the police reviewed the matter and found no wrongdoing on our part.
Certain behaviours during the project created a working environment that some of our team found extremely uncomfortable. As a company, we prioritise professionalism and the well-being of our crew.
During the project, you sent over 100 emails in a two-month period, challenging numerous aspects of the work, including areas that had been previously agreed upon. While we value open communication with our clients, the volume and nature of these interactions created additional strain on the project.
You also requested that our team witness personal documents unrelated to the project, which we accommodated in good faith to maintain a positive working relationship.
Furthermore, you raised concerns about a leak in your bathroom, which you attributed to our work. Although we believed this was unrelated to the pool project, we promptly addressed and repaired the issue at no additional cost to you as a gesture of goodwill.
While we strive to work constructively with all our clients, we must acknowledge that your project presented exceptional challenges. In our many years of operation, we have never encountered such a difficult working environment.
Based on professional advice, including that from Trading Standards, we therefore made the difficult decision to withdraw from the project when it became clear that continuing was no longer feasible. This is the only instance in our company’s history where we have left a project unfinished, and it was an extremely disappointing outcome for us not to see the final stage of the lining completed.
Regarding Your Claims:
The suggestion that our team behaved unprofessionally is unfounded. Throughout the project, our staff maintained the utmost professionalism despite the challenges.
The claim that our company engaged in negative communications with other businesses is categorically false. At no point have we defamed or undermined you to other contractors.
Despite the difficulties, we refunded the full cost of the liner promptly upon receiving your bank details, as part of our commitment to fairness.
We take pride in our reputation for delivering high-quality workmanship and conducting ourselves with integrity. While we regret how this project unfolded, we remain confident that we handled it professionally and ethically.
