The MC03 phone

The MC03 phone, It’s marketed as a premium, simple device, but in reality it barely works and just causes frustration. Seeing other people report the same issues makes it clear it’s not just bad luck.

Customer service is impossible to reach, and it honestly feels like they’re deliberately trying to block refunds or brush me off. I feel cheated, and reading other reviews shows I’m definitely not the only one.

Punkt have not refunded my returned order

Punkt have had my returned phones for over a month now and haven’t refunded me, nor are they responding to any of my emails. Have had to raise a dispute with my bank, which Punkt are also not responding to. So I do not have the phones or the money. Be aware! Very dodgy company.

Initially I bought the Punkt phone…

Initially I bought the Punkt phone because I was very enthusiastic about the idea, but it has all soured on me.

Being naturally concerned about IT security, I have devices that dont accept cookies or tracking cookies. The official web page of punkt.ch does not load unless your device accept cookies.

How is that, for a company that sells a product that is marketed as "not tracking you" ?.

Back to the phone, after initially trying to setup the wifi hotspot (which i am qualified to do) and after failing to do so, the phone ended up in he drawer for a few years.

Then lately it came out again and I had to "add a contact" to the address-book, it turns out you can add a contact, but not add a phone no. to that very same contact, because of a firmware bug. In other words, Punkt released a phone with a malfunctioning address-book.

How is that, for a company that sells a product that is marketed as a phone ?.

So, I tried updating the firmware, hoping that the bug had been fixed in a newer firmware version. The phone refused to update. Apparently the company has bricked phones older than 2023, so they can't firmware update over the air.

The only solution was to contact Punkt.ch directly, so I did just that. They quickly answered my email, i will give them that credit. But, despite me owning the phone from new, they wont help me update the bricked phone, the reason being that I cant find the original paper invoice.

Thats such great service from a company that took 400 USD for the phone when it was initially purchased. I wish them them the best of luck with their bricked phones and no service to their first-mover-customers.

Disappointed by Reliability and Battery

I had high expectations of Punkt because of its minimalist design and premium positioning. Unfortunately, my experience has been very disappointing.

From the start, I experienced software bugs and frequent freezes. The phone sometimes responds very slowly or completely locks up, forcing me to restart it. That is extremely frustrating for a device that promises simplicity and reliability.

On top of that, the battery life is very poor. With normal use, the battery drains much faster than you would expect in this price range. For a phone that is meant to be “simple” and free from unnecessary features, this is hard to understand.

Given the high price, I expected significantly better performance. The design may look nice, but functionality and reliability matter more — and in those areas, this product falls short.

Based on my experience, I unfortunately cannot recommend this brand.

Punkt MP02 - after a year and a half

I’ve had the Punkt MP02 for a year and a half but I haven’t used it much. I wanted to digital detoxify myself so I bought it after reading about the company’s claims of using high-quality materials and making long-lasting phones.

The disappointment began with the battery life. I expected a phone with such basic functionality and a small black-and-white display to last at least five days. It barely lasted a day and a half with two or three calls a day.

Another disappointment was the incredibly difficult setup of Pigeon. I eventually gave up on it and decided not to use the phone at all. The other apps it supports aren’t worth the hassle.

Finally, a few days ago, the white paint on one of the corners of my white/grey version peeled away, revealing black plastic underneath.

Overall, I think this phone is overpriced for what it offers and the quality is not good at all.

Going digitally off grid

I’ve had the phone for two years now and love it. Yes it has problems but it’s to be expected as it’s using an app developed for smart phones on a ‘dumb’ phone. I love the fact that sometimes it doesn’t work and therefore I can’t talk to people. I’m an international filmmaker and it’s all I have. People now just either try and call me or send me an email like they used to. None of this endless pinging from smart devices and endless streams of useless messaging and images of what people are having for supper.
The problem now is that the latest update only allows me to talk on signal for 5 seconds then cuts out. Perfect Christmas update. Have been sending emails and have 5 second conversations…

Punkt MP02

This phone (Punkt MP02) was always an issue to me.

Pigeon stopped working randomly without any notification whatsoever. During a month, I didn't even realize it wasn't working. Later Punkt released an update that allowed to work but without the link function which is absolutely necessary to share images or videos through the desktop app. And this update came 3 months later. After that link was never updated for almost 6 months and it is still not working.

Another thing is the fact that it would sometimes stop working completely and I had to reboot it by force.

The battery is also completely disappointing, it would not even last a day and if I used access point or called someone for a long time, it would last even less. You can not either use tethering over usb...

It has also a weird pigeon sound on boot that you can not silent or change at all.

A complete waste of money on a non serious entreprise.

Feels like I've been scammed

I purchased a mobile in summer 2024 which stopped turning on soon afterwards. I then had many, many months of frustratingly slow contact with customer services until finally I was sent instructions on how to return the mobile for a replacement. This process was complicated and took a lot of time - when I received a new mobile this autumn it also stopped working for no apparent reason after a few weeks. I am now in the same long drawn-out process of trying to complain but I cannot work out whether the company is utterly inept or actually dishonest. Either way, I would recommend avoiding all Punkt products, and certainly don't buy from them direct as you may as well throw your money away.

Keypad broke, no refund

I bought the MP02 phone.
I wish I read more reviews before buying this product. Within 3 months of purchase, the keypad stopped working correctly - several buttons are now difficult or impossible to press, so I no longer use the phone at all.
I contacted support and they can't offer a refund, only replacement. I don't want a replacement; the product isn't good.
It's unfortunate because I really liked the idea and the design. I just wish it was higher quality.

I have a punkt mp02 since 1 month now

I have a punkt mp02 since 1 month now. I love it.

But in this 1 month it actually gave an error 3 times (today is the 3th time) and everytime I have the option to "wipe all user data" yes or no. But I can only select "yes". So I lose everything, all my important notes, i made on this phone, all my phone numbers I inputted manually.

I contacten punkt.ch after the second time, asking how to fix this, but they don't respond.

I would really recommend the phone if it dind't have this error and/or the customer service was helpfull.

MC02 - Bluetooth crashes after system update - No support!

I am a MC02 (Secured Android) owner. With the first update since I own the phone bluetooth stopped working. I used it daily and it was instant. Punkt support is not responsive and after a few trials (reboot it, ...) does not answer anymore.

Dear Punkt Support Team,

I’m writing regarding a critical issue with my MC02 device following the most recent system update. Since the update, Bluetooth functionality has completely failed. Specifically:

- The Bluetooth toggle will not stay on.
- The Bluetooth MAC address is missing from system settings.
- System log via ADB shows:
`E droid.bluetooth: Failed to register native method`

Through ADB diagnostics, I’ve confirmed that the system reports no Bluetooth address. Attempts to reset the Bluetooth stack, clear cache and data, boot into safe mode, and run service commands have all failed to restore functionality.

I’ve reached out previously but have not received any useful response from Punkt support. Given that the issue was introduced by a system update, I’m requesting clear guidance on how to restore Bluetooth functionality or access to a prior firmware version that would allow rollback or reinitialization.

I’d appreciate any response or solution you can provide, as the device is currently unable to perform basic wireless connectivity tasks.

purchased the Punkt MP02, advertised as a premium Swiss-made phone focused on simplicity and quality. The reality, however, is quite different — the device is actually manufactured in China, not Switzerland or even the Czech Republic as sometimes claimed. The back of the phone clearly states “Made in China.”

More importantly, the phone cannot reliably connect to Wi-Fi networks, despite detecting them and entering the correct password. This renders the device practically unusable for its intended purpose, especially since firmware updates and key apps like “Pigeon” depend on an internet connection.

I paid €300 for a phone without a camera and without stable internet connectivity, which is unacceptable for a product with such a high price and brand reputation.

My recommendation: avoid this product and company until they fix these fundamental issues and are transparent about the product’s true origin and capabilities.

Terrible service, poor product

Phone doesn't work properly with my carrier. Want to return it. Website requires that they have registered the sale on their end, which isn't registered on my account. Can't enter service request there. Sent a differnt request type to submit something. No reply. Called them voicemail box full. Are they in business or is this just how bad the customer service is.

MP02 phone useless on UK Three network !!!

I bought my MP02 phone in July 2023. It worked ok. It is advertised as a 4G phone, and I bought it to make sure I could use a simple (non-"smart") phone when the 3G signal was switched off. But when the switch-over to 4G happened in September 2024, my punkt phone stopped working for voice calls in the UK. It worked fine when I visited Switzerland and Turkey, but not in England! I have communicated with the Punkt support team now for 7 (seven!) months, but they have not made my MP02 work. I have told them that if they can't make it work I will want a full refund. They said that I've had the phone for too long for a refund to be possible. (and offered me a voucher towards one of their smartphones - NO THANKS !!! ) I'd rather have the one I bought originally work for me anyway, as it is quite a nice phone for someone who doesn't want to be bothered to carry around a mobile computer and tracking device (smart phone). They also blame their inability to sort it out on my provider in the UK, ThreeMobile, and they said on 30.Jan 2025 that "Specifically, we are actively working with the carrier to resolve the whitelisting process." But I don't think it can be this difficult. Anyway, they are not keeping me informed on what is going on, and maybe they just don't care?
