Avoid this company

I am a returning customer who recently bought a simple product, a door spring off this website.

Unfortunately it broke almost immediately. The following is an exact transcript of the emails that followed. Customer service is not this companies strong point.

Me :
Hi I received this door spring the other day off of ye. The spring bent on the 2nd day of use and is now completely useless. The metal bar came through plastic ball and damaged door.
Terrible product.
See photo attached.

Them:
We are selling this product for 10 years without any complaint from customers and we have sold quite a lot of them.

It sounds like the issue was with the installation rather than the product itself.

Me:

Seriously??? You pre drill a hole and then turn the attachment in with an allen key ... not exactly rocket science!! How do you imagine I installed this incorrectly???

If as you say you had no problem with any previous item sold, then maybe I received a faulty one?? But no you immediately jump on defensive.

My aim was to just inform you of issue but now after your rather crappy response I would like a refund.

I await to hear from you,
Ciara.

Them:
Not defensive at all. Simply pointing out facts to you.

Feel free to send images of where the door spring was installed and return the product to us which in turn will be sent back to the manufactuers to be assessed.

We will not be providing you with a refund unless you can prove that the item you used was defective.

Me:

Attached is photo of where door spring was in place.

I will not be going to any further cost of returning faulty item to you. It is quite clearly broken in previous pictures. If you would like it back please send a sae ar your own expense.

Them:
You received a product, you used the product, you broke the product.

If you are not going to return it then there is little else we can do for you Im afraid.

At this point I stopped communicating with purchase.ie and contacted my bank to dispute the transaction as a faulty product. My money was returned to me almost immediately.
Safe to say I will not be using this company again and I would warn others "buyer beware".

EDIT 1: response from them just now after reading my google review. Really only hammers home my point about terrible customer service 😂.

Them:
"Terrible product......" she says

All products are terrible when in the wrong hands.

Your bank cannot return your money by the way unless you told them lies in which case you will be hearing further on the matter as we can prove you received the item from us and you have no evidence that it was faulty when you received it and you refused to return it.

Keyboard warriors will be keyboard warriors.

Knock yourself out!"

And rest assured folks, I told the bank no lies only sent them the same transcript as above and I have received my money back.

Edit 2:
After I pre-empted a "this person has never bought anything from us" comment from them by stating that I had used my maiden name for purchase. They came back with following comment ;

Them;
nobody is disputing you ordered a product from us🤷‍♂️? Just disputing everything else you have to say on the matter. Lets summarise this for you. Customer buys a product from us, misuses it, refuses to return it but demands a refund and has a hissy fit on social media when told where to go after refusing to return it. We have absolutely nothing to hide.

Me:
😂😂 I misused it ... silly old me not knowing how to turn a screw. Must remember not to undertake those manly tasks again all by my lonesome!!! No hissy fit here, as I said I originally only contacted you to say product was terrible and that maybe you should stop stocking it. Obviously no interest in constructive feedback. Slán, enough time wasted on this paltry 12 euro👋

They then began privately messaging me on Facebook - this guy has issues - see last (now blocked) correspondence from him:

Them:
Must have missed the part in your emails that said it was a he or a she that installed the product wrong? We can all see what you are doing here all the same of course...! As very clearly explained to you in our inital reply we have been selling the product for a number of years, we have sold large quantities of it without issue so we have no reason to suspect it is a "terrible product" as you put it and as you are refusing to return it we can't even check if there was a fault with it. As for the "paltry 12 euro" comment... Perhaps you should ask yourself why you have spent a whole morning copying and pasting this review of our business all over the internet and why you contacted your bank to get your money back eventhough we sent an order to you in good faith and gave you the option to return it? Would you class yourself as a professional keyboard warrior?"

Maybe I seem like a keyboard warrior but I genuinely only started down this rabbit hole in order to inform them that the product wasn't great.

Great experience

Great experience. A great selection of stuff at excellent prices and arrived at my door within days, I was shocked at how quick the delivery was. I am so glad I ordered it now because I was hesitant after reading bad reviews, but they were local (Irish Owned), and I really wanted the stuff, so I risked it and thank God I did. I will definitely be ordering from them again. They have some cool gadgets.

A reliable online shop.

I've ordered several times from Purchase.ie and have been very satisfied. I'm in Florida now and I like things from home, especially DIY type things. I'm not about to have a wheelie bin storage shed mailed to the US, but the cleaning and water saving and gardening things are fine.
You'll not find a more reliable online shop.

AVOID!!!

AVOID!!!

Placed an order 16th May and received confirmation and receipt for the item (which was shown as "in stock"). Followed-up by email (politely) to enquire the status of the order a week later but received no reply. Occasionally people genuinely don't see emails. So I tried a call, no answer, left a voicemail - no response. Finally I sent a (polite) message by Facebook which was replied quickly but didn't offer any further information.

Last night, before I went to bed (late I'll admit), I simply replied on the message thread with "???"

This morning has been a mix of the humorous and the obscene. I have received abusive messages and emails (including threats) "Munster is a small place..." etc. and been referred to as an "ignorant a***hole" on a Facebook messenger message.

I will stress, at all times my communications with purchase.ie were polite and professional - however, the have demonstrated a level of unprofessionalism that beggars belief.

I am unsure if they will process the refund as they have stated clearly that they will not be sending me my order and when ask again (by email), they simply replied #suemephilip.

To sum-up, abusive, unprofessional and disorganised.

AVOID.

EDIT: as I do not have the option to upload screenshot and transcripts to Trustpilot I am happy to share same with anyone who is curious about this situation. Colms recollection of the call is also not rooted in reality. You can then make your own minds up about who may or may not be unreasonable, aggressive, threatening and unprofessional.

As an aside, choose to deal with Purchase.ie if you wish. I would urge you to read Google reviewsand any other review sites to satisfy yourselves about this business. Curious that they have disabled Facebook reviews on their own page though 😉

The item Philip ordered was temporarily out of stock. We normally contact customers within 24 hours if an item is out of stock but because we were expecting a new order of stock to come in from that particular supplier last week this did not happen. That is the only regret we have on this matter but lets get to Philip shall we.....
The first known contact we had from Philip at about 18.30 on Monday May 24th through a facebook message asking about his order. I replied immediately and although he had provided an order number I asked him to tell me what product(s) he had ordered as I was cooking dinner for my children at the time.
Other than opening the warehouse a couple of times in the morning to take in stock from suppliers our warehouse was closed on Tuesday May 25th as it was the 5th of my eldest son (Our Head of IT).
I did not see another notification that Philip had replied until Wednesday May 25th at 7.15am.
Whilst a bit miffed that someone would send us an impatient message at quarter past midnight (strike one) Philip received a polite and professional reply at 7.15am advising him that the item he had ordered had been temporarily out of stock but was now in and would be dispatched that day May 26th and would arrive to him the following day May 27th.
I wasn't expecting him to apologise for sending a message after midnight. If someone is going to be rude enough to do that then they are not likely to realise it was inappropriate but I certainly didn't expect the (not one but two) messages he deemed necessary to send in reply
The first said "he didnt expect sending a message after midnight would disturb me since I never get back to him" which of course was untrue. This was strike 2 for us but we chose to ignore it.
Then Philip sent another reply....
"Here is a small bit of business advise for you. You would want to adjust your attitude towards your customers"
That was strike 3
and 3 Strikes and you are out....
I will proudly admit I told Philip that he would not be getting his order and instead would be getting a refund and happily admit I used the adjectives "ignorant arsehole" to describe him and have no regrets that I did.
After this he sent a number of emails in which he tried to insinuate that we were not giving him a refund even though we made it clear several times that we were going to do this.
So Philip (who clearly has lots of time on his hands) decided to take to Trust Pilot to write this inaccurate summary of events.
At this point I tried to ring him and reason with him. I explained that I was out of the office on May 25th due to my sons birthday but Philip said "I don't care about your family situation". I asked him three times if he felt it was appropriate to send people messages at quarter past midnight. He would not answer and hung up the phone.
People like Philip write review on Trust Pilot.
Do you want to be like Philip?
EDIT: interestingly Philip didnt take my initial phone call but when he called back I asked him are you recording this now? He said "no why would I?" and I said "because that is the way that people that engage online in an abusive manner tend to behave" I have nothing to hide either way. I think I called him "a pumped up little prick" after he told me he doesnt care if it was my 5 year olds birthday incidently.
Also I asked Philip to at least include transcipt of messages in his review at the outset to try to back up what he said. It is possible to do that here but he chose not to.
As a point of interest we have never enabled or disabled Facebook reviews. We did ban Philip for the abusive messages he sent us through facebook though and for contacting us at quarter past midnight.
Philip clearly has a passion for company reviews. Isn't it interesting he choose to buy from us even though we have such a bad reputation.

Buyer beware Purchase.ie

I ordered and paid for an infra red heating panel on December the sixth. This product was advertised as in stock even though it wasn’t. I subsequently found out after I enquired about delivery that it was stuck on a ship coming into Dover by a phone call from Colin the owner. I understood and asked for him to keep me informed. Next contact was over five weeks ago as I had heard nothing at all. He told me that he hoped the panel would arrive on the Thursday and have it delivered on Friday five weeks ago. I sent him an email yesterday asking him to contact me and explain what was going on as I had not heard a word. All I got today was a reply to the email which was just a copy of the invoice I had paid. I sent him another email this evening 8th Feb asking what that was meant to mean and contact me urgently. Then I received a phone where I was accused of sending him two abusive emails completely untrue. I was then called a host of abusive names and threatened with physical violence. Unfortunately for Colin I have the call recorded as proof. Apparently there are another 34 who are also waiting on their panels too and he still has them up for sale the 720 watt infrared panel which is out of stock since before I ordered it on the sixth of December. All I wanted was to find out when the product I paid was going to be delivered I did not deserve to be abused , threatened and screamed at.

John Lally did indeed order a Far Infrared heater from us on Dec 6th and at the time whilst it was not in our warehouse we were of the impression that an order was on its way to Ireland from the UK from our suppliers.
We are trading online for 11 and a half years. Over 1000 products are listed on our website. We hold stock of the majority of the items that are marked as in stock but occasionally items that are not in our warehouse that can be sourced within a couple of days from suppliers are listed as in stock. This is not a regular thing and the vast majority of our customers in Ireland will testify that they generally receive their orders within 24 hours.
In the end for Brexit related reasons and despite being of the impression every week that the order would reach us in the coming days we had to give up on this product we had to give up on it completely and subsequently decided to terminate working with that particular supplier as it was a very frustrating situation,
It was March at this point and all customers who had ordered were either given a different far infrared heater or given a full refund.
At all times we kept customers up to date about the ongoing saga and the vast majority were very understanding as they knew that Brexit was causing lots of problems for all retailers not just us but Mr Lally was not understanding at all and sent us a series of abusive emails even accusing us of sending him an invoice when we had politely replied to him with an update on the stock and an offer to issue him an immediate refund.
Our policy when when customers are unnecessarily abusive is simple.
We will not deal with them and issue them a refund rather than sending their order.
There is a number of inaccuracies in this review not least the fact they whilst the item remained for sale on the understanding that stock was to arrive imminent it was made clear on the product page we were awaiting for this order to arrive and all customers that ordered we called and advised on delays and given the option of a refund.
A phone call was made to John Lally to tell him that we were issuing a refund because we were not going to tolerate his abuse. Nobody here screamed at John Lally, nobody here abused John Lally and nobody here threatened him. Mr Lally did however state that he was "going to write negative reviews all over the the internet about our business if he didn't get his order" and that he was "going to call down to us to sort us out" in a threatening tone. Three months later we are still awaiting for John to provide us with a copy of his "call recording" or indeed for him to call down to sort us out.
Here is another prime example of why review websites like Trust Pilot are nothing but a sham. They are used by bullies to try to tarnish the reputation of small businesses who will not tolerate the abuse they dish out.
