Had to pay return shipping for substandard merchandise

We ordered 4 bowls (Villeroy and Bosch's Petite Fleur pattern). They arrived with distasteful rust stains. We had to pay $32 to ship the merchandise back in order to receive a refund. (I assume/hope we'll receive our refund!) When a company insists you pay return shipping for substandard merchandise, how can you trust them? What motivation do they have to NOT send substandard merchandise? I would never again purchase from Replacements.com and I have unsubscribed from their marketing emails.

Beautiful porcelain mugs

I ordered a set of porcelain mugs that had been discontinued by the original company and they arrived in a timely manner and had been packed really well.
My experience with the company was very good.

I made the mistake of ordering wrong…

I made the mistake of ordering wrong size coffee cups. Spent over $120.00. Very disappointed I had to shipped back to fedex and had to pay $63.00 to return. I was going to place another order for different size cups but was so upset that replacement would not help me with the return cost of shipping them back. I called customer support and they were very rude. Never again will I order from them.

Price Gougers!

I was so excited to find an exact replacement on this website for a mug of mine that broke. When I realized I would have to pay over $30 to ship 1 simple mug, I became disgusted. This is price gouging, and these people should be ashamed! I'm in their neighboring state and it does not cost this much to ship 1 mug!

I had to pay $20.10 to return items that never should have been shipped. Dented, scratched, covered in a funny film that I can only guess was polish, labeled “made in China.” Baldwin has never been made in China and never needs polishing.

Excellent customer service

This company is legit and has an excellent customer service team. Unfortunately, I was sent the wrong item twice and so am unable to leave a 5 star review. However, both times the team was completely understanding and offered first to send the item again correctly, and then unfortunately when the wrong item was sent again they refunded me with no questions asked. I offered to ship back the wrong items but they were happy for me to keep them given the shipping costs (I'm in Australia). So my experience has been very different to a lot of the negative reviews, even though they didn't nail it my experience overall was still very positive. Also the items shipped very quickly, well below their international shipping estimated time

These people are crooks.

At one time I had looked up what we should be able to get for our family's heavy sterling silverware (service for 12), and suitable impressed, I contacted Replacements out of curiosity to see what their bid might be. They offered only an extremely tiny fraction of the true worth, not just a usual markup worth, but an insulting amount. This is not a good company.

These people are absolute crooks

These people are absolute crooks. They got me to mail $2500 worth of china that they told me they would pay this amount for the goods. When they arrived, they gave me some bull about it being the wrong category, despite the fact they had chosen the category, and told me the whole thing was worth eight cents, and that they would be happy to donate them for me. These were solid gold Fabergé plates, clearly worth more than eight cents. I think their plan was to get the merchandise and hope that I would not demand that they return it so they could sell it at a higher price.

Packaged VERY well!

Even though FedEx mangled the box, my glassware was packaged so well that it arrived completely unharmed.

Shipped and arrived within the estimated time as well. If I ever need their service again I will not hesitate.

Steer Clear

Their delivery is obnoxiously expensive and obscenely slow.
I am so mad at myself for paying the shipping and then the package is now stuck in CT for 9 days and the customer service is nonexistent.
Still don’t have my items and no idea when they will arrive.
Do not deal with these scammers. They are terrible.

Shockingly Filthy and Incomplete — Never Again

I am utterly appalled by my recent gift I had ordered from Replacements.com. I ordered what I expected to be a simple set of salt and pepper shakers. What arrived was not just disappointing — it was downright disgusting.

When I opened the package, I was hit with a mess that no reputable business should ever allow to leave their warehouse. The pepper shaker was still full of old pepper, clinging to the interior like it had been sitting untouched on someone’s dining table for years. The outside surfaces of both shakers were grimy and sticky, as if they’d been pulled straight from a flea market box without a second of cleaning.

To make matters worse, one of the shakers was missing its stopper entirely, rendering it completely unusable. That means someone not only failed to clean or inspect the item, they also didn’t bother to check whether it was even complete.

This is not a matter of “vintage charm” or “light wear.” This is unhygienic, lazy, and shows an alarming lack of quality control. The fact that Replacements.com is charging retail prices for items they ship in this condition is insulting.

I expected professional service and quality consistent with a reputable resale business. What I received felt more like rummage sale leftovers hastily tossed into a box. Now I have the added hassle of contacting customer service, arranging returns, and wasting my time on something that should have been right from the start. I am still waiting for the credit to actually be returned to my credit card and I'm sure there will be more of a fight to get the shipping costs to/from reimbursed.

If this is how they handle orders, I can’t in good conscience recommend Replacements.com to anyone. Save yourself the frustration and buy from a seller who actually inspects, cleans, and ensures the completeness of their merchandise before shipping.

Absolutely unacceptable — one star only because zero isn’t an option.

Price Gouging and Poor Customer Service

I ordered some dishes and some cloth placemats and napkins from Replacements. After placing my initial order, I asked if I could add 8 small side plates to the order. Customer service advised me that this would incur additional shipping costs of $100 (I live in Australia). I asked customer service to double check the rate as this seemed high and they informed me that, due to the additional dishes, shipping my order would now require two boxes rather than one. Reluctantly I agreed to the additional costs.

When I received my two large boxes, one box contained all of the dishes, nicely packed but with plenty of room as it was also full of popcorn filling. When I went to unpack my second box, it was empty except for 8 cloth placemats and napkins and 95% popcorn filling. These cloth items would (easily) have fit on top of the first box and provided additional protection for the dishes.

I was basically charged to ship a large box of popcorn across the world.

I then contacted Replacements and asked for a refund of the shipping fees for the second box. I assumed it would be a no brainer as any business (should) agree that charging a customer $100 to send out a large box containing only small cloth items was ridiculous. Instead I received a silly response stating that the second box was necessary to ensure all of my items arrived safely. When I questioned exactly how removing cloth placemats from a box of dishes increased the safety I didn't get a response. Not only were their shipping rates outrageous to start with, at the very least they could have shipped the placemats in a box 1/10th of the size of the box they sent. Nothing but price gouging of an international customer.

Beware of excessive shipping charges!
This company can be useful, but be sure you order exactly what you want as returns are prohibitively expensive and are all on you. I ordered two pots. When they arrived, I realized the construction was not as described. I decided to return them. The pots cost $250 total. Shipping through USPS, the cheapest option, cost over $100! But, I don't want the pots. They were advertised as all glass, but have teflon in the bottom, which defeats the purpose. So now I have to pay $100 to receive my $250 refund.
