1 STAR – Shockingly Rude, Unhelpful & Item Not as Described – Avoid This Seller!
My experience with Retro Sect has been nothing short of awful. I purchased a game that was advertised as being in “very good condition,” yet the box arrived missing its tag and was clearly faulty—something that was never mentioned in the description. As a collector, accuracy matters, and this item was absolutely not as described.
When I politely raised the issue (while working a 15-hour NHS shift, mind you), I was met with rudeness, sarcasm, and an attitude completely lacking in professionalism. Instead of offering genuine help, the seller spoke down to me and repeatedly implied that my concerns were unreasonable, despite the fact that he failed to list the damage in the first place.
I suggested an extremely fair solution that would have cost him just one return label, yet he insisted on arguing, claiming it would cost him more—despite my clear explanation. His replies got increasingly short, dismissive, and downright rude. At one point he even said I was “stretching him too far” over a simple request for the correct box for the game I paid for!
He kept contradicting himself, refused to take responsibility, and made it sound like resolving the issue was some huge inconvenience. Instead of helpful customer service, I received condescending messages and an unwillingness to offer any reasonable resolution unless it suited him.
In summary:
Item NOT as described
Box arrived damaged and missing a tag
Seller was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional
Zero effort made to provide customer service
Spoke to me like I was being unreasonable even though the issue was his fault
Refused a simple, fair solution
This is hands-down one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had when buying retro games. I strongly recommend avoiding this seller unless you enjoy being talked down to and receiving items that don’t match the description.
Save yourself the headache and buy elsewhere.
