Revitalist only cares about money

I was a patient for over a year, and I did not feel cared for by the Knoxville clinic. The staff were lovely, but then the clinic was completely gutted. The owner continuously promised to hire new staff and therapists, but after a year, hadn't established new staff yet. They also continuously raised the price of the treatment, without letting me know. I only knew the price was raised because I received an email when the charge went through. After getting tired of the lack of care and deceptive price hikes, I began going to a different clinic and got excellent care with in-network therapist options. I would never go back to Revitalist because the owner only cares about profit and not the well-being of the patients who are receiving an intense treatment.

I was a patient for almost 2 years

I was a patient for almost 2 years. Ketamine worked for me for a while.
It then caused panic attacks and anxiety. I stopped the treatment and asked for a refund for the unused infusions that I had already payed for.
Revitalist kept 25% of my refund.
(455.00) So sad they don’t truly care about the health of the patient. It’s all about the cash.

Revitalist is a publicly-traded profit-driven company and it showed in my experience

Let me say straightaway that i don’t think any company offering Ketamine therapy necessarily needs to be a non-profit. But i think that Revitalist’s moves to quickly grow their profitability - because they’re a public company with a stock price - could be negatively impacting their care. Something that i think can be seen as a side effect of that dynamic is that they have had to close some offices recently - perhaps pulling back after initially expanding to quickly.

Here were the negatives of my experience - not all of which do i attribute to their drive for increasing profitability:

- The guy who met with me for my initial consultation directed me to apply for financing through a company that he mistook for a similarly-named company. So i ended up with a credit card that could not actually be used for their services. Later someone told me that was not the first time he’d made that mistake.
- On the day of my first (and only) appointment there was a skeleton crew at the Louisville location, and i felt like i was asked to take the lead on getting myself checked in. At the time i was very depressed and it was a drain. I thought they’d be better at making checkin frictionless, given their average client is depressed and might have a hard time with executive functioning.
- It was only after my session was over that the administering nurse pointed out that there had been an SOS/panic button beside me in case of emergency. This obviously should have been pointed out to me beforehand.
- I never received any kind of follow-up from them after the first session, no attempt to schedule a second session. Again, depressed people might have a hard time following through on continuing the treatment, so i figured they’d be more proactive. I had decided to pursue treatment elsewhere by then.

Your experience may be better, but i was not happy with mine. Still, i am glad i went there just because the improvement i got from the one session helped me to reassess how i wanted to go about pursuing ketamine therapy and i settled on doing at-home treatment with dissolving lozenges, with the help of Smith Ketamine Services. It’s more affordable on a per-session basis at around $300 per month for one consultation and 10 lozenges. You may say this is balanced somewhat by the fact that treatment extends over a period of 6+ months. But i’m doing much better than i have been in a long time, 2 months in, and i’m glad it’s a longer treatment period that will help to really solidify the changes.

Bait and switch

Bait and switch. Staff took a bunch of my money and encouraged me to take my vulnerable teen out of school for "treatment." Doors locked at "clinic." Staff not paid. Want us to do a virtual meds by mail things but will charge me another $150 to even talk about it. Stay away.

Update: I called the main office to speak to someone in charge. I called daily for three weeks and left dozens of voice mails. Not one return call. I finally saw on a web search that the owner was doing a Webinar to promote her business so I attended and asked why they won't call patients back. She did call me then and disputed what I told her happened. She a lot of talking but no refund and lots of snarky comments about me leaving bad reviews. Just a money grab.

Billing Department is Awful!

My son received treatment in January. The staff was friendly and seemed genuine. The treatment protocol was initially effective but the positive results quickly dissipated. If you are looking for "long term" positive effects this treatment may not work for you. It's an expensive treatment for short lived results. At the time the Novi clinic was new, they hadn't been set up to accept BCBSM. We were told that they participate and the billing office would prepare a detailed, itemized bill to submit to BCBSM for reimbursement. After paying the entire amount in full, I received a "itemized" receipt on 3/25/22. I immediately submitted it to BCBSM. Only to be told that the "itemized" receipt was't detailed, didn't include proper billing, procedure and other medical codes. The receipt also did not show paid in full. This began a months longs journey between Revitalist and BCBSM. I submitted to BCBSM for reimbursement 6 times and kept asking the Revitalist billing department for a more detailed paid receipt. Left over 10 messages, talked to several employees to be told that it would be sent asap. Then, in September I was finally contacted by a person in billing to be told that they are short staffed and that she would do her best to get this over to me. She told me that she was notified of this request in August and she was very behind. It is now Nov. This is not factual as I left the billing dept. detailed messages in March, April, May, etc. I still do have the proper receipt to submit to BCBSM for reimbursement. My initial request was submitted on 3/25/22, the same day I received my so called receipt from Revitalist. Over 8 months of continuously asking for a proper receipt from Revitalist billing and I still have nothing! I am beyond upset and frustrated. At this point I want to be credited by Revitalist for $2422 cost of billed therapy sessions that BCBSM covers under my plan. This is very poor business practice! My recommendation is to steer clear of Revitalist! What seemed to be a viable treatment ended up not being as effective as promised and the billing department is unorganized and unhelpful! Look into other viable less stressful options! No one needs to be put through this in order to receive reimbursement from their insurance co. on covered services.

STAY AWAY FROM REVITALIST- Abusive+ Unethical = Only Care About Profits

STAY AWAY FROM REVITALIST - I believe in ketamine, but highly warn about coming here. I was emotionally, verbally and psychologically assaulted by their therapist. I found another victim who was assaulted by this therapist too (while under the influence of ketamine like I was). This person reported to the staff + lead psych. BEFORE (there's written proof) I was abused my him. They failed to protect her, and they failed to protect me after they clearly knew about his abusive behavior. They didn't do anything AND they tried to cover it up (the Louisville office and their corporate team, of which includes their CEO and VP of HR). Who only knows how many other people are victims of this place. They are getting funding and rapidly growing - just focusing on opening more clinics and hiring the cheapest therapist they can get to increase their profit margins. They literally hired an ex cop convicted of child abuse to be my ketamine therapist (and admitted they knew that).

Patient Beware

FYI: This review is on the Revitalist in Raleigh, NC & their upper management in Knoxville, TN.
-I was there to receive ketamine infusions for pain- each day was $500 (& I literally make $900/month from disability, so this is a huge loss). I have a medical condition that makes me unable to sit for more than 15 mins w/out intense pain & presyncope. I need to lay on a flat surface like a bed or a couch with one continuous cushion. Example: I have a daybed in my living room so I can see my family.
-The nurse knew this because when I went to my consultation, 15 mins in I was about to pass out from the pain. My mom told her that we couldn’t continue if there was nowhere for me to lay down. I laid on their flat couch in the waiting room to finish the interview. At the end of the consultation, I explained that I couldn’t do the treatment if I didn’t have a place to lay flat during the entire treatment. They do their treatments in recliners. She really wanted me to sign up, so she said that they were going to figure something out for me. We’ve spoken about it many times & she knew what I needed & why; I’ve been like this for 7 yrs so this is not new or temporary.
On my very first day going there, she said that they’d brought a couch in from somewhere else in the building for me & it would be my treatment room each time I came. And honestly my 1st 5 treatments were amazing. However, after my initial treatments, I made the mistake of talking to someone in upper management about some concerns I had (which have been resolved). I was assured that my questions wouldn’t cause any problems @ my subsequent visits & I should call the nurse to set up my 3 boosters w/no worries.
When I talked on the phone to the nurse she made several comments about how I shouldn’t have gone above her head & I should’ve asked her my questions instead. But I apologized & thought that was enough. Before I got off the phone I asked if my couch room would be available all 3 days & she promised me it would.
After all 3 visits were paid for & my ride had left she took me back & very fake cheerily said that my room wouldn’t be available because “it’s a consultation room now,” & I had “graduated to a room w/a recliner.” These treatments last over 5 hrs. She knew it was vital to my health & would cause severe pain & possible damage if I didn’t have the use of the couch.
-I started panicking. I started crying & begging her for some kind of solution, but she completely ignored me, acting like I wasn’t crying & showing no empathy @ all. She just proceeded to put my IV in like nothing was happening. I was hysterical by the time she got me under the effects of ketamine. She still hadn’t apologized or shown any ounce of compassion for what she was doing to me. I was absolutely terrified to be going under when I knew what she was doing & I couldn’t protect myself.
This continued the 2nd & 3rd day. I begged again to get my room back to no avail. I was bawling in pain by day 3. Remember: I already paid & I really needed this treatment. She had me between a rock & a hard place. Plus I was hoping the ketamine would overpower the damage from the chair. I felt like I had no choice.
-The pain from laying up against these lumpy chairs (very comfy for normal people mind you) for almost 6 hrs 3 days in a row killed anything the ketamine might’ve done for me & caused me extreme muscle spasms every time I sat or stood at all for over 4 wks afterwards. Not to mention the anxiety of knowing that someone had done something like that to me & nobody had stopped her. Ever since it happened, I’ve been emotionally messed up & in knots over the incident itself & the way I’ve been treated by everyone involved when trying only to get justice for myself.
-I sent this entire story to upper management & they completely ignored it. Did not even respond. They had to be prodded multiple times by myself and an advocate over nearly 3 wks before they would answer me. When I asked for a refund for those 3 days he said “no” citing that it would “set a precedent“ & they could give me 25% off of a few treatments. As though I would ever feel safe going there again.
