No cash!

Ordered a cup of tea, a small bottle of water, and a small piece of prepacked flapjack from the outside serving hatch. It came to £7.45, which I thought was plenty, but, when presented with the only payment option, a card machine, the first of 2 options was to add a gratuity to my payment! What for? Why would a tip be justified? I had to wait for my tea, served in a paper cup, they didn't even bring it to the table.
It was bad enough being forced to use a card, but being asked for more money for, literally, taking an order is taking the mick. This stuff annoys people.

Overly fatty lamb mince

I ordered organic lamb mince from Rhug Estate and was very disappointed with it. It looked incredibly pale with all the fat in it and when I cooked it the fat that came off weighed 20% of the total meat weight. I sent a complaint to them but never received a reply. I will definitely not be buying from them again.

This is certainly not the level of service or quality we aim to provide, and we apologise sincerely for that.
Our organic lamb is traditionally reared, and the fat content can vary naturally, but your experience does not sound as it should have been. We would very much appreciate the opportunity to look into this properly and put things right for you.

We really liked the surroundings shame about the service and attitude of staff!

We really liked the surroundings, the gardens, nice big car park, and the restaurant setup and the shop with so much to look at and choose from! The lunch we had was lovely and fresh!
On the other had we were disappointed with the level of service right from the moment we stepped in the restaurant!
We had to wait for someone to welcome us and get us seated despite there being 2 members if staff around doing everything non customer related and chatting to one another! Eventually after 5 mins or so, we were attended to and showed to a table. It took them another 10mins to bring us a menu and once we had the menu we had no attention from any staff as to what we wanted to order!
I finally decided to walk to the counter and asked this helpful tall lady member of staff if I can speak with the manager or person in charge and that’s when I really got some focused attention asking me if all was ok, which it obviously wasn’t! I explained all the waiting from the start and now still no service while her colleagues were busy chatting away! I asked if we weren’t welcome as we felt that way and that we were happy to leave if we weren’t going to be served! We then had some service within minutes and got our food a while after. The food as I say, was delicious and I’d have given 5 star overall, had it not been for the v poor service from the very young inexperienced staff at the front receiving counter. She really didn’t care for customers as such! No smile
No welcome and kept everyone waiting. A coupe next our table also waited long and finally went to the counter to ask for someone to take their order!! And NO, it wasn’t as busy!!! Hope management will take notice and get some decent trained staff who actually show care for the customer who in the end “pay” her/ their wages!! Please get some experienced , caring staff who’ll actually look after customers and invest in a supervisor to ensure great service!!

Staff training in customer service needed.

Driven past this place a lot over many years and decided to stop off for lunch today. Very disappointing experience. All I will say is that the young staff members in the bistro would benefit from some customer service training and remember that politeness and attentiveness are the minimum of professional behaviour that is expected in this sort of role. Don't ignore customers for 20 minutes til they feel the need to ask for someone to take their order, then please don't talk about them to your colleagues when they can see you giving dirty looks. Smiles and a positive attitude would go a very long way. And yes, we left without ordering, or spending any money in the shop, even though the produce looked lovely... and no, we won't be back.

right where is the manager my nain…

right where is the manager my nain works there and shes been there for a while now and this is the 2nd time i heard this week someone she working with is picking on her and told her to f off home today and whoever this worker is needs to go she cannot be there and if i hear anything again im gonna go mad no one should be picking on an old women for no reason

The 'best' Sunday lunch ....

Rhug Bistro Review

We are fortunate to have Rhug Estate right on our doorstep and decided to enjoy another Sunday lunch there today. As always, the quality of the food was exceptional. Each dish is thoughtfully prepared, showcasing fresh ingredients and skillful cooking.

The service was excellent, with a particular shout-out to Llona, who demonstrates professionalism and dedication on every visit. It’s evident that the staff at Rhug Bistro work hard to create a welcoming atmosphere for diners.

The food prices are quite reasonable considering the quality. We honestly feel that Rhug Bistro provides great value for money.

Overall, we highly recommend Rhug Bistro to anyone looking for a great dining experience. Whether you're a local or just passing through, it’s definitely worth a visit!

Not a good experience, poor quality

Not a good experience. Stopped here on the 21st June on our way on holiday. The little mobile takeaway van has gone. So we queued for the drive through to be told they had sold out of breakfasts this was at 9:30???? We git some rolls from the takeaway by the shop, it took a while but they were nice.
Then today we stopped on our way home ordering an egg bap, sausage patty bap and two teas. The eggs were dry and overcooked, there was no sausage patty and no explanation, the rolls were the horrible cheapo ones and tea cold by the time we had waited about 25mins for the rolls. Not the usual standard we are used to and not like the week before.
Always been a great place to stop in the past. Very disappointing, especially for the price we paid, £17.50!!! Really put off going there again.

we live local and not been before

we live local and not been before , sunday we are driving past and thought shall
we try it , so we went in got to the till
to find they don't take cash , back to the car for a card then back to the till ..
i come from a farming background so the test of a burger is just plain with nothing on so you can taste it ..
so we had one plain burger and one burger with salad and a portion of chips 22.50 ..
verdict was very disappointing, very over seasoned beef lots of pepper and that about it .. there really was not any taste .. maybe a bison burger would of been better , for most people they would think great but it really wasn't for me .. sorry guys

Waiting for nothing.

Went for tea and scones. We were shown a table and then abandoned. We waited for 30 minutes while other people were served and then decided to leave.
On our way out the waitress asked if we wanted anything to eat. TOO LATE.

No longer take cash

No longer take cash! Totally embarrassed and angry, after queuing to be served at the butchers counter, then having to queue at the till, only to be told no longer take cash. I had no cards on me, only cash. Not everyone uses cards.
Will never shop there again.

Dog heaven, food hygiene disaster

Stopped off on the way home. Wanted to buy food but was completely turned off as the beautiful farm shop was full of dogs. Can understand dogs outside but not where food is been sold. Just unhygienic. This trend for being dog friendly is frankly revolting and off putting

Jess the dogs trips to the cafe

I was treated to plenty of pets before placing my order , the staff knew how to make my perfect cup of tea , plenty of milk and teabag taken out , my sausage was cooked to perfection each time I visited. Five paw rating on woofpilot. Will visit again

Inedible goujons labelled as Fish and chips

Called in for a coffee stop and food en route to South Wales. We used the outside section
Fish and chips were on the menu and chosen.
Wrongly named imo as the “fish” were goujons and resembled inedible, rubbery parts in batter. Returned the meal to the counter, explained then left.

This organic farm estate promotes sustainability and has now become a charitable trust. I will never visit again after finding out they allow fox hunting on their land to torture and kill foxes for pleasure. How can a charity be breaking the law? They are only in it for the profits and certainly not for nature and wildlife.

Great place to stop along the A5

Great place to stop along the A5, nice set up and clean amenities. Cafe and farm shop, a walking path around the estate to stretch your legs, and some electric car charging points.

Not to be trusted. Product never arrive and no consumer service. Serious doubts on their responsibility and quality.

I have ordered some meat since September, but part of it never arrives and without giving any reason.
After trying to contact them by email and phone over the last few weeks without success, I decided that more people should know this.
It's very sad that they mistreat consumers and don't really bother with any consumer service. Given such ignorance and irresponsibility, how can I ever trust that they are doing real organic and truly free ranging agriculture? How can anyone trust them not overdose antibiotics or use high quality feed, or care for the environment if they have no consumer service, not care if the consumers receives products or not.
