Not comfortable at ALL!
After two pairs totaling about $300 — I threw them in the trash because as much as I did not want to admit (for a long time) they are not comfortable and give me blisters. Total rip off.
AND ROTHY'S JUST COUNTERACTED MY REVIEW ON HERE. HERE YOU GO ROTHYS:
1. I HAD THE LILAC POINT ONES
2. I HAD THE NAVY ONES ROUNDED TOE
THE NERVE OF ROTHY'S.
Don’t buy from this website
Don’t buy from this website! It is a scam. They send a wrong product - ugly fake sunglasses - and tell you the shoes are out of stock - all of them?! They won’t do a full refund because of the supposed cost of the wrong item. I hope to get my money back through my creditcard company.
Charged my credit card, but never sent shoes
I ordered A pair of Rothy’s on Aug 16. Today is Aug 25 and they never shipped. I was charged and they just never shipped them. No phone number for customer service. You have to do an email or live chat online. I struggled with that last night. It took forever and all they would agree to do is send another pair… If they do it this time. Never again for me.
Not breathable, no give due to synthetic yarn used
I bought two pairs of Rothy’s pointy ballet shoes during my last trip to New York. They look deceitfully pretty but, unfortunately, they are very uncomfortable to wear. I’ve had mine for 3 months hoping they would mould more around my feet but it hasn’t happened and I am going to have to give them away.
They are made from synthetic yarn which has no give, so I develop blisters every time I wear them for longer than about 45 mins.
Also, this yarn has no breathability so when it gets warmer (and they seemed to be designed to be worn in warm seasons) Rothy’s get very unpleasantly sweaty.
Overall, feel very disappointed. It’s a lovely idea - to have a range of knitted casual shoes for everyday wear - but there is a long way to go in terms of technology of production of this idea. Perhaps investing in a great knitwear tech consultant would be a good idea as I’d really love to see this product improve
Discrimination against the disabled
Yesterday I began the process of returning a pair of shoes I ordered that didn't work for me. The quality shoes is not my complaint. When I began the return process I was sent a QR code that directed me to a drop off location. I do not drive. I am disabled. I then I went to the chat feature and asked for a return label. I was told that the only way to return them was at a drop off. I asked why this was not made clear, if it was at all, at check out. I explained that I was disabled and didn't drive. The chat deteriorated from there. I was polite, but did say that Rothy's return policy was discriminatory. I was told that she was not being discriminatory she just didn't know I was disabled. I asked how and why she should know that unless I was asked to check a box on my order, which would obviously be discriminatory! She then asked if I had a friend or family member who could drop them off for me! I pointed out that this was no one's problem except ROTHY'S. I then asked for an address or mailing label. I was sent ANOTHER QR code telling me where I could drop them off. I asked for a manager. I was FINALLY, after at least a half hour of this back and forth sent a link so I could download a mailing label. This was the absolute worst customer service experience I have ever had. If this nutty drop off policy is for sustainability reasons, the logic is flawed. If everyone who needs to return shoes has to drive to a location and back again, it uses far more gas than a pick up that moves on to another delivery.
They advertise free shipping and…
They advertise free shipping and returns but if you buy anything on sale, they would not allow you to return or exchange it and that’s a big problem when buying shoes online. Any manufacturer selling shoes online should allow their customers to exchange for a proper size at least. I’ve never heard of such policy as stores usually will allow at the minimum store credit.
After purchasing 15 (!) pairs of shoes…
After purchasing 15 (!) pairs of shoes from Rothy’s over the years and wearing them happily, I recently ordered a pair of sneakers in my usual women’s size that turned out to be much too wide and slightly too long. I had failed to notice that the shoes are sized for both men and women.
When I called the company to request an exception to the final sale return policy due to my misunderstanding, the customer service rep “Crystal” very rudely schooled me, pointing out that had I been paying attention, the information was on the website and I should have noticed the unisex sizing. Crystal’s only suggestion was to purchase inserts (from Rothy’s) to fill the gaps.
I get the feeling that no one in the C suite pays attention to any of these issues, or if they do, they don’t care. If instead of being rude and inflexible, an expression of understanding and offer of a coupon or small discount on a future purchase actually would have sent me away satisfied. But as I wrote in a futile follow up email, the cost of keeping me as a customer is now $89 plus tax.
Poor shipping experience
I ordered a pair of sneakers for my granddaughter and paid $35 for rush (1-2 days) shipping. I ordered on a Monday morning and figured they would be here by Wednesday afternoon. No, they used two day shipping from FedEx and didn’t ship until Tuesday so they won’t be here until late Thursday - not in time for a birthday box which I’m mailing. When I reached out to customer service for a refund of my $35 I was told they don’t start counting the days until it’s shipped. What? Why is that not in the description of shipping services offered. 1 to 2 days means from my order day to me and I wouldn’t have paid the $35 if I’d known it started the day Rothy’s chose to ship.
Great shoes, poor customer service policies
Bought my first pair a year ago, and I love the shoes. Ordered 2 more pairs last night (after customer service hours) using the site's search function for Women with a filter for my size. I didn't realize the site had brought me to the Men's version of the shoe until I read it on the order confirmation. "Men's" (or Women's) is not in the title of the shoe on the site page, only on the order confirmation. Going back to the site and using the same Women/size filters, I was again brought to the Men's version of the shoe and then noticed "Also available for Women" is in small gray print 2 lines below the title...something I could only read on a laptop, not on my phone. I contacted customer service the next day, and they said they wouldn't change the order. I'll be unable to process a return because they're a final sale.
In reading other reviews, I've learned there are comparable shoes on Amazon for a fraction of the cost. My last pair of Rothy's will be a goodwill donation as Bezos wins yet another merchant skirmish.
Rothy's Netherlands website is a scam!
Rothy's Netherland website is a scam! Don't order there! They send a crap product from AliExpress instead of your actual order, charge different amounts and hide their traces in shady emails. Scam, scam, scam! I am filing a credit card dispute to recover my money, hopefully it works out...
Shoes Frozen in Warehouse
I ordered from Rothy's on May 1st and it is now May 13, I asked for shipment of 1-3 days, my order never came, fed ex has my order pending, I reached out to customer service and they told me one of the shoes has been out of stock for a while. Why exactly wasn't this out of stock item not updated on the website? any ways. they refunded that, and now I have 1 other pair of shoes, I reached out to Rothy's customer service again and they told me I am not able to receive a refund for the 2nd pair of shoes. they still haven't given me a proper update on this, I seem to be getting the run around. the customer agent I spoke to was a bit condescending. The company has no time frame whatsoever.
Worst sneakers I ever bought
Worst sneakers I ever bought. Insole wore down in 3-4 months even with moderate use and customer service sent me a link to go buy a new one. Whats the point in buying an expensive pair of shoes if they won’t last even for few months
Scuffs are a disappointment
I love rothys flats, however their scuffs have been a big disappointment. After only 4 months of wear my toe has worn a hole in the top of my scuff. The company will not replace. I would think the durability of the upper would be better especially since the shoe is so expensive.

Have purchased some shoes & I was pleased with the comfort & size but when I went on the website to find another pair in different colors they were no longer available & couldn't even locate the animal print pointed flats that were listed less than 2 months ago.thankfully Amazon carried a similar style by sketcher & was so much less costly....Hopefully Rothy will realize that
people want their shoe but they make it so hard to find & purchase
Customer service is awful, and policies make no sense!
Customer service is awful. While I have been a loyal Rothy's customer for many years, there have been too many negative experiences with customer service that have me thinking that maybe it's time to stop supporting this brand which clearly doesn't value loyalty. For context, I own about 15 pairs of shoes, as well as 3 of their bags.
One time I bought a pair of shoes that was an extremely popular style/color and was selling out quickly. I was excited to have snagged a pair, but I noticed a week later that I was no longer receiving updates on my order. I had to reach out to them, when they basically said, "Oh yeah, this shoe was actually sold out when we sold it to you, so I guess we'll just cancel your order." If I hadn't said anything, my money would have still been tied up with no shoes to show for it. And I lost out on opportunities to buy this style on ebay/poshmark because I had mistakenly assumed I had a pair coming from Rothy's. By the time this was figured out, they were long gone from the other sites.
Another time, I was trying to exchange for a different style that was the exact same price. I was not allowed to simply have the new pair sent out at the time of the exchange. Apparently you can only do that if you are exchanging the same pair for a different size. I had to send the first pair back as a return, then wait for them to finish processing the return, then order the new pair as a brand-new order. This delay was extremely unnecessary, and I missed out on having the shoes for the event I was purchasing them for.
Most recently, I was trying to use a store credit I had earned by referring customers to Rothy's. This is something that takes work - you need to promote the brand to people and convince them to place a full-price first order. I went to purchase a pair of shoes that was Final Sale, and it said that no discounts or coupons could be used. By this I assumed that they were referring to the discounts/coupons they send out every few months to VIPs, or to new-customer discounts, etc. Not credits I earned through my work promoting the brand. But when I went to use these credits I earned, I was told that they don't apply to Final Sale shoes either. What? I earned these credits...they were not a free coupon or discount handed to me!
All of this has added up to a really disappointing journey with Rothy's and shows how little regard they have for loyal customers.
Terrible customer service! They don't care about customer satisfaction.
I bought a pair of shoes that were final sale. When I receive the shoes they were marked the correct size but were at least a size too big. I have four other pairs of Rothys all the same size and they all the fit fine. I chatted with customer service, sent an email with pictures, and called. I was told that they were final sale and they could not send me an exchange even though I wanted to keep the same shoes. With the price of these shoes at final sale of $99 I'm thoroughly disgusted and will never order from this company again.
WHY are all the shoes (in fine print no…
WHY are all the shoes (in fine print no less) listed as "order a 1/2 size up". WHY the hell don't they do that on their end?? If that 9 is really a 8.5, then for heaven's sake that's what you should list it as on your web site. WTH??!! This is incredibly deceptive and frankly kind of sleazy tactic. I didn't find that out after wearing them for a day and wondering why I was so miserable after a few hours. I saw that listed on the pointy toe shoes and assumed (my fault I realize) that the rounded toe shoes would be true to size. Now I have an expensive uncomfortable pair of shoes I cannot return. No arch support so I took out the inserts and put my own in. Wish they weren't so deceptive about their sizing.
I tried but I can't do it…
I've really been trying to give these shoes a chance but it is like wearing pure death on your feet! I've never had a shoe hurt the way these do. They feel great when you try them on in the store and walk around a little but it's when you try to wear them for an extended period does the torture begin. These shoes are just for show, maybe a quick date night where you are not going to be on your feet but I definitely not for vacation, work or anytime you are going to be on your feet for more than 2 hours. With no support, you are just walking on the ground and my toes feel like pins are sticking into them by mid day. Yesterday was the last time they will ever come to the office and I wouldn't even donate these to the homeless. Customer service is terrible. I had one person tell me to put an extra pair of insoles in the shoe. The shoe fits so what is an extra sole going to do but make it tighter! Save your money and shop for a reputable shoe with an arch support. These are not the ones! Wasted $250 for 2 pairs of bricks!!
Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service. Got the wrong pair of shoes sent to me. I couldn’t even find the shoe on their website and they gave me a hard time about wanting to know why I couldn’t find the pair online. I wanted to keep them but I wanted to know the price difference. They were rude.
