Star was happy to explain every detail of the process and work with me. Her kindness and attention to detail were what made me trust this was a company that could get the job done.

THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM! My husband and I called Safeway Tax Relief because we were struggling making our payment and our tax debt continues to grow. We had called other tax relief companies before contacting Safeway Tax and the other companies were honest with us and said they would not be able to help us because we had already set up a payment plan with the IRS ourselves. Safeway Tax lied and said they could help us. DO NOT TRUST SAFEWAY TAX RELIEF. This company is a total SCAM. We talked to Dustin first who said they could help us, even after I told him I DID NOT think they could. He ASSURED us that the worst case scenario would be that we would pay $130 for up to 3 years and then we would be done paying. He even tried to talk us into taking a loan out for $4000 for a down payment. But instead I took that money out of my savings and paid them. When we first called we gave them a $500 retaining fee which they said was needed for them to have their team look into a resolution. Then they lied and informed us they could help us lower our tax debt but we needed to sign a contract and they charged us $8116.70. In total I have paid $5585.01, and they still expect me to pay the remaining balance. They did NOTHING to help us. WE filled out the paperwork and all they did was forward it to the IRS which is something I could have done myself. Then they said the resolution they could get from the IRS was $840 a month, which is what I already had set up with the IRS myself. Dustin also told us that as soon as we signed with them that this automatic payment to the IRS would stop and we would no longer be paying that amount. This is another lie because we continued to pay Safeway Tax and the IRS each month. Safeway Tax charged me over $8500 for nothing. They insist that on the second page of the document we signed in small print it says no refund. Do not waste your money! They are liars and cheaters. Their customer service is awful. Our first agent was Kenny M. He was rude, disrespectful, never called when he said he would call, and did nothing to help us in the months he was assigned to our case. Luis C. was the last person we talked to.  Luis informed us that the resolution they came up with was to pay the IRS exactly what we are currently paying them. No RESOLUTION was achieved.He said he would work to get us our refund since they could not do anything for us. He told us they could only give us back a minimal amount. I offered to let them keep $1500 of the amount that I had already given them, and they only offered to give us $761 back. We have already paid Safeway Tax $5585.01 to do absolutely nothing for us.  DO NOT TRUST SAFEWAY TAX AS THEY ARE LIARS WHO WILL TELL YOU ANYTHING TO SCAM YOU OUT OF YOUR MONEY!

RIP OFF. My husband contacted SafewayTax in re: to a 2 state tax debt est over 3,000.00 pass on to the Attorney General for collection years of 1989 - 1990. Safeway told my husband they could also assist relieve of a Federal debt we had. I guess they figured $3,000.00 was a little crooked to ask a customer for a state tax that was a little bit over 3,000. Believing what they said husband sent them 3,000.00. Later they told him they couldn't do anything without my signature. I explained to SafewayTax I had an agreement with IRS mnths ago & will not be getting my tax rerecordsAnd they need to send husband back his money. Last month or so husband goes to a casino hit a jackpot.
Attorney/General collected that cash amount. Make a long story short..Called Safeway 1st said he couldn't be reimbursed. Later they stated they maybe able to reimburse him $200.00. Mind you, they wouldn't be doing anything to rectify the debt ..But yet, they feel
they are entitled to over 3,000 to do nothing on this account. If they sent us the money back, the remainder of the Attorney General could be PAID OFF. Does this sounds like a company that you'd trust to HELP YOU RESOLVE A tax debt. We're not I finish with this company yet in re: to our reimbursement, no matter many hours you place us on hold. BTW don't underestimate the power of the ATTORNEY GENERAL OFFICE.

In summary, this has been my miserable and fruitless experience with Safeway Tax Relief:

• Calls not returned.
• Appointments not honored with no explanation or suggestion as to an alternative appointment.
• Texts ignored.
• Promises of return phone calls not met.
• Forced to be vigilant of my phone for days and weeks at a time because their case manager would not commit to a specific time to expect my return phone call.
• Three case managers over eight months, requiring that I start the paperwork process all over again each time.
• Safeway falsely claiming that Safeway submitted my 2023 tax return, when I had indeed submitted it myself on April 15th without the help of Safeway.
• Often confusing me with other cases.
• Endless broken promises and false hope that my tax debt would be behind me with Safeway’s help.
• And all of this with no resolution or follow-through.
• Currently, no communication about the status of my resolution, essentially left to fend for myself by Safeway.
• Leaving me no choice but to contact the IRS and do the hard work of resolving my own debt (something I thought I had been paying Safeway to do for me).
• Inflicting undue distress, anxiety, depression, and sleepless nights over the course of eight months, again with no resolution in sight.
• No services rendered; only eight months of broken promises and failure to follow through with me.
• Putting me further in debt to pay Safeway for a service that was not provided.
• In a financial deficit compared to where I was when I first contacted Safeway eight months ago; Safeway has made my financial situation worse. I wrote to the CEO, Ahmad Othman, two weeks ago.

This was his response: "Very sorry to hear that. Our client’s experience is very important to me.
I’ve arranged an emergency meeting regarding your case. I will be speaking to all the department heads so I can better understand what’s been going on ant every milestone regarding your situation. You’ve been so patient and I only request you bear with me so I can get all the facts straight and as CEO, I will ensure you’re experience with us results in a satisfactory manner.

Expect a phone call within the next few working days and I’ll do everything I can to remedy the situation."

That phone call never came.

After spending 6k and having to get financing to pay for it, Safeway tax began preparing the paperwork to get everything situated and hopefully get my taxes done and be able to start fresh. After working for a couple months they called me and told me that I didn't qualify for any of the program. They then stated that they would reach out to the IRS and get a payment plan in place that was a little more affordable at 400 dollars a month, after it was set up I was sent an email and told my case was closed but was contacted by a guy named Ryan after leaving a 1 star review. Ryan explain to me that my case was not closed and if I was unhappy with the results I could get a refund and be on my Merry way. Ryan eventually refunded me my thousand-dollar downpayment and told me that under no circumstances was my case closed and they were continuing to work hard with the IRS. Then today I call Safeway tax and they tell me that my case is closed and they will be taking no further action.
Take my advice and stay as far away from Safeway tax as you can. I spent $6,000 with them to do something I could have done myself by applying for a payment plan through the IRS which I already had one in place before I ever called Safeway tax. They're really vague about explaining any of this to you before the process starts even if you pay them the 20% of whatever your taxes are you still be liable for it even if they do nothing for you.
Now I'm being forced to file a predatory loan lawsuit

I paid $6000..was told tax would be taken care of.no doubt the people we nice and helpful.but in the end...they did my unfiled taxes for 3 years.and got 1200 taken off 2015 tax year.still paying taxes and penalties on all years owed.so now owe 17,000 to irs on a payment plan and 6000 loan from safeways bank partner.disapointed .would have done it myself if i knew that was the outcome

Do not go to this company they are a scam. They will give you false hope and promises and charge you thousands of dollars when all that money could have gone directly to the IRS. Deal with the IRS directly. I promise you, you will save yourself the headache of dealing with a bunch of liars and scripted nonsense. Just educate yourself and the IRS WILL WORK WITH YOU.
